Just an FYI, what he posted at my RfA wasn't a vote; 嫌いな人、あなたをファック is an attempt to say "Asshole, you're a fuck" in Japanese (I could post the correct way, but suffice to say he needs some Japanese lessons). I've warned him myself. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 21:34, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No problems :) By the way, I loved your answer to my question. But wanted to know something else, do you know what's the connection between William Borg and NPP? Wifione Message 21:43, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Looking into it now... The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 21:47, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
From what I can see, he seems to have been one of the earliest people to work translating articles and developing a procedure for dealing with non-English content, which is a not-insignificant part of NPP today. He also was/is a part of WP:WikiProject proposed deletion patrolling. Did I miss something? The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 21:58, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You missed it completely. His was the first edit to NPP :) WifioneMessage 22:04, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Ah. Sometimes I forget to check the obvious places... IRL I study the Ainu people, and there's no straightforward way to research them, so I've gotten too used to having to piece tons of fragments together to (sort of) get the right picture. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 22:07, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Well, it was anyway a trick question. Just so you might get the absolutely correct idea, here's the history link to the two true NPPs, which will show you two names as being the creators of NPP and Npp. William Borg and Vacuum :)[1][2] Wifione Message 22:14, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks; every so often, I take a little time to look into the history of this website to see how it got to where it is. Now I've got someplace new to look! (Incidentally, I didn't read WP:NPP until several months after I started patrolling; I just stuck with it for so long that eventually I came across it). The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 22:18, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Have fun in your RfA. Take care. Wifione Message 22:45, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

ANI notification

[edit]

I've brought up some of the issues being discussed on User Talk:Ostreicher in the already open ANI thread on the issue,WP:ANI#Threat of legal action. I mentioned your name in that process, so your comments are welcome. Qwyrxian(talk) 23:48, 1 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sure. Thanks for the notification. Kind regards. Wifione Message 19:35, 2 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

RFA thanks

[edit]

Thank you for your support and comment at my recent successful RFA. Being now the new fellow in the fraternity of administrators, I will do my best to live up to the confidence shown in me by others, will move slowly and carefully when using the mop, will seek input from others before any action of which I might be unsure, and will try not to break anything beyond repair. I do not feel adminship is authority, but is rather a responsibility and trust accompanied by a few extra buttons. Best,Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 17:22, 4 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

So unbecoming of me to not respond to you timely. Best wishes and do write to me for any assistance. Wifione Message 14:14, 22 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Will do. Thank you. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 22:35, 22 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Another RfA

[edit]

Hello, Wifione,
I am the beginner in Wikipedia, but would like to become an admin sometime, so your kind assistance would be very useful to me. I hope to count on your nomination as I reach the level of edits required by Wiki rules (soon, hopefully) - have only 1500+ edits so far in English Wiki. I will really appreciate your support when I reach the edit number necessary for adminship--Orekhova (talk) 14:05, 12 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Reason of deletion my Article

[edit]

Hey Dear Wifione, Hope you are in your good health, well i think you having some mistake about this Article name Qamar Shaheen Babur/Babur Malik just because of some Spell mistakes, but we write this name in both spells with Babur Malik and Babar Malik, we tried to add some references like some sports stories published by Babar Malik as well as the Image of Babar Malik.jpg..... I dont know wot kinda criteria you need to make an article on here but this is kinda confusing for me as well as for my followers... This is my humble request to you and to wikipedia team that see the references we added in Article Qamar Shaheen Babur/Babur Malik and try to reinstate this article... you can go to the link http://www.sportsencounter.com/author/babar-malik and can see the sports stories published by this author... you can also search the images of Babar Malik on google, and on web with this name you will see alot of sports stories... you can also search through babar.journalist on google for this personality... wot else you need i dunt know or mightbe i cant understand how to create an article or how to add references but you people have to search properly about this personality... if you are having some problems with SPELLINGS or Babur and Babar so you can simply change the spellings of Babur in Babar but the personality is same... the difference is simple that Personality's Original name is Qamar Shaheen Babur but he is using Babar Malik as Alias/journalistic name.... you better change the spellings of Babur in Babar but kindly reinstate this article. Best Regards, Decoderz (talk

  • Hi Decoderz, the criteria to include any individual's article on Wikipedia is listed on the page called Wikipedia:Notability (people). Please read that to understand which kind of biographies can be included and which cannot be included. Of relevant use could also be a page that deals with biographies of living people, and that is Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons. Please ensure that when you create a page about any living person, it adheres to both these instructions. If you need assistance in creating the page, you could provide me reliable sources that prove the notability of the person. By sources, I mean preferably news items that are reliable and that I can verify to be existing. For example, the source you have provided above (http://www.sportsencounter.com/author/babar-malik) doesn't mention that Babar Malik has printed those stories. Also, the problem is that when a news site like Sports Encounter claims that it "is world’s fastest growing sports news website", I would immediately take this with a pinch of salt. But of course, I'm not closed to other sources you may provide. But please first read up the two links I've given above to prove that the individual is notable. I am not going to restore the biography otherwise. Please do write back to me for any further assistance. Thanks and regards. Wifione Message 14:09, 22 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Wifione, I am still confused about the deletion of my article because some of people like Ehsan Sehgal are just trying to make my article controversial otherwise i recreated the page Babar Malik and provided some sources like a story in a newspaper about the person Babar Malik when he kidnapped by the agencies. i can provide u more detail and u can also search on google by Babar Malik Kidnapped. you will read alot of stories in different news papers about his kidnapping and condemnation about different journalists unions just likehttp://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?page...25-8-2007_pg7_25 and http://www.yasni.com/babar+malik/check+people/ary - United States . my heartily request to you please consider my article stay able. i provided u the URL of my archive where u can read alot of stories that were written by Babar Malik, on the top of every story you can see the name by Babar Malik with the dateline of Islamabad... you can see http://issuu.com/thefinancialdaily/docs/thefinancialdaily-epaper-23-12-2011?mode=window&pageNumber=10 and read the article's credit line as well as the last para where its included that Babar Malik is well known journalist from rawalpindi and Islamabad. you can also see the page http://www.sportsencounter.com/list-of-authors please try to check the link and help me because only the person Ehsan Sehgal is trying to mess with my article and trying to make it controversial, even he sometime write he is dutch and sometimes he write he is Pakistani but in Pakistan no one knows about Ehsan Sehgal in journalism i have already checked from everywhere. he just enter a line and administrators put the tag on my article for speedy deletion.. why is this so... please help me and give my article back — Preceding unsigned comment added byDecoderz (talkcontribs) 15:53, 27 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Admin

[edit]

Ooh, thank you very much for considering me, I'm honoured + shocked. It's something I've definitely considered - I've grown so much as a person and an editor in the past year, and although I am not nearly as frequent as I used to be due to a new job, I still think I could have a role to play. Let me think it over and get back to you in January, once the hoo-haa of the holidays is over. Thanks and regards, GiantSnowman 17:15, 22 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • I will do, thanks. If you don't hear from me within the first few days of January, please give me a gentle nudge of a reminder, either on my talk page or via e-mail. Hope you have an enjoyable Christmas + New Year. GiantSnowman 17:33, 22 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Admin2

[edit]

Thanks for the thoughts, but I don't have any desire for or use for "the tools" -- except, maybe, for one if that can be separated from the pack without running the Lord of the Flies gauntlet at RFA... Being able to read deleted material would be a boon — once in a while I run into deleted pages in the course of my writing and have no way to see whether there was anything "good" there that was blown away. It'd also be helpful at AFD, once something is deleted there DRV becomes pretty much impossible unless one is an administrator. So: no interest in running for Adminship, but thanks — but if there is a permissions status that allows reading deleted material, that would be useful. best, —Tim /// Carrite (talk) 18:29, 22 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • I appreciate your reply Tim. Thanks. True, if in the future, trusted editors like you are allowed to view deleted material through a separate function, it'll be a pleasure to assign the right to you. Of course, in the meanwhile, if you ever change your mind, do let me know. Merry Christmas. Wifione Message 18:32, 22 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

IIM Calcutta

[edit]

Hi, I have modified your edit to IIM Calcuta. The name of the course "Post Graduate Diploma" clearly indicates that it is a diploma and not a degree course. I feel that this is not so important fact to emphasize with a seperate sentence, because the industry does not care whether an MBA is degree or diploma. The most important factor in an MBA from an industry perspective is the brand name of the college. Even foreign companies and universities recognizes the equivalence of the diploma in Management and degreeAnbu121 (talk) 19:51, 22 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Anbul. Thanks for the note. Unfortunately, the view you provide may perhaps not be the right view and could well be synthesis -as your explanation does not include their doctoral programmes (which I'm told are certificates considered equivalent to Ph.D but not Ph.D). It is an important piece of information that is encyclopedic in the context of India, where the question of degrees versus diplomas, I am told, does perhaps matter a lot. I'll suggest that you may consider adding a line to explain that even the doctoral programmes do not lead to Ph.Ds being awarded but are equivalent. Would that be acceptable to you? Thanks. Wifione Message 20:00, 22 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I didn't notice the PhD part in the article. Actually, here in IIMs, there are no doctorate programmes, we offer only fellowship programmes in management. I will try to edit the article such that it clearly says that it is fellowship and not PhdAnbu121 (talk) 20:21, 22 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Fantastic. If you need assistance in the wordings, don't hesitate to ask this way. Kind regards. Wifione Message 20:24, 22 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I have edited the paragraph about Fellowship Programme. Please have a look if any more changes are required.Anbu121 (talk) 11:49, 23 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Shall do Anbu121. Shall continue the discussion on the talk page of the relevant article. Best. Wifione Message 17:38, 23 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I can't imagine any good coming from your essay even if it had content. Can you? — Arthur Rubin (talk) 20:02, 22 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oh hi. That's a good question for an essay that's just about to start. Was attempting to put up a skeletal editing support guideline for editors and administrators. Suggestions will be just about great. How did you even come across this page I created today? Kind regards. Wifione Message 20:14, 22 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
    • I'm not familiar with your Wikipedia history, but a number of troublesome editors have created essays with similar titles which were eventually deleted as being contrary to policy. I don't think you intended that, but that's how most of these end up.
    • As to how I came across it, it was in regard your comment on WP:TEA. You may not be aware that all those IPs (99., 141., and the specific 97. and 50.) are all the same person, and they thank everyone who agrees with them. Considering how infrequently that occurs, .... — Arthur Rubin (talk) 04:37, 23 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
      • Troublesome, well, my mother would be loathe to disagree with you. But don't worry; will take care on the essay. And about the ips, no harm in them thanking everybody around I guess. I wonder why nobody's sock-blocked them yet? That apart, merry Christmas Arthur. Have a brilliant new year too. Wifione Message 17:21, 23 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

otrs

[edit]

Hi , as I am an otrs volunteer and had just posted a similar request above yours on the users page - your adding another one seems a tad unnecessary. Is one request not enough? We don't want to frighten her off with multiple requests do we.Youreallycan (talk) 21:13, 23 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Submitter of recent AN3 report appears to be a sock

[edit]

Please see my comment. I agree with your closure, but I think the socking is clear. I have logged several socks of User:VanishedUser314159 inWP:ARBPS#Log of blocks and bans. There could be yet more as he keeps searching for static IPs at his place of work that are not yet blocked. Let me know if you disagree. Thanks, EdJohnston (talk) 14:29, 24 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

What was the Username violation? The article that I saw that they were editing American University of Antigua College of Medicine, doesn't seem to match with it.Naraht (talk) 15:44, 24 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

fluoride dab pages to real

Page creator agrees with change to regular articles: [4] Will you please teach me how to change them? Or if it is an admin task: monofluoride, trifluoride, tetrafluoride, andpentafluoride are the ones needing the change. TCO (talk) 02:39, 26 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
