I hope you took the text out of wikipedia into another programme and made those changes all at once using search and replace (Ctrl H or Ctrl F) rather than doing them one by one, SqueakBox 20:21, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
Its not wikipedia as much as replacing large numbers of repeating items. Evne in Microsft Word there is a search and replace button and it would have saved considerable time highlighting isnt, pressing either Ctrl F or Ctrl H and replacing all with isn't in the lower box and pressing replace all. You would only have had to find the first mistake. Well, this si the sort of thing I do in my job, 20:36, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

I agree with your comments on the talk page of the above-referenced article. The piece is appallingly POV and inaccurate. I've merely skimmed portions and deleted some of the most egregious crap that caught my attention, but it needs serious attention.

Ah. Me, too. You're far away from home -- and I'm up late, supposedly working on a deadline for a client, but my equipment is on the fritz. :( So, I'm on Wikipedia, dealing with ignorance. I'm often fed up with this place, because the website seemingly belongs not to those most knowledgeable about a topic, or even the most objective and rational, but to those most determined to push an often -- in my experience, anyway -- wrongheaded and racist agenda. I have been looking around at some problems that influence articles I've been working on and came upon your name because you have had related problems. Please keep a calm head, even when dealing with individuals whose voltaic piles are running low. ;-)
I see you are interested in martial arts. I teach a course on "the dao of martial arts," and have structured it mostly around Chinese and Japanese teaching stories (the things that my students will probably never learn from their MA teachers because, being Americans, they don't know them either. I would like to involve materials from other traditions. Steve Barnes wrote a good alternate history science fiction novel that hints at some things in the Sufi tradition, and I was hopeful that I might find some teaching stories from that tradition that would be fairly directly relevant to MA. But I struck out on that one. I am now looking for things in S.E. Asia, particularly Indonesia. Your interests reminded me that there may be teaching stories in other traditions that could be relevant too. The only one I know of is a story that I may have heard from one of my yoga teachers. You probably know it, so forgive me if I get the details wrong. It is the one about a village that is severely troubled by a large cobra. The cobra bites many people. The villagers appeal to a visiting holy man. He speaks to the cobra, telling him to behave himself. He goes off and the villagers are relieved that the cobra no longer bites people. A few years later the holy man comes back by the village and notices the cobra, but the poor beast is in terrible shape. The holy man asks him why he has so many injuries. The cobra explains that since he stopped biting people the people feel free to abuse him. The holy man tells the cobra that he was instructed not to bite people, but he was not told not to hiss.
Do you know of a source of other good teaching stories to prepare young people to be able to defend themselves with a clear mind, without ego, etc.? Thanks. P0M 01:31, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

Correcting spelling in talk pages (not articles)
I feel I should point this out: while your intention is good and the result is an improvement, it is not considered acceptable to correct other user's spelling on talk pages. From Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines: Don't edit others' comments: Refrain from editing others' comments without their permission (with the exception of prohibited material such as libel and personal details). It is not necessary to bring talk pages to publishing standards, so there is no need to correct typing errors, grammar, etc. It tends to irritate the users whose comments you are correcting. Thanks! Not a problem. There is in the US and UK a cultural unwillingness to correct people's language, which I think this arises from. In some cultures (e.g. France) it is considered perfectly reasonable to point out another person's language errors. Notinasnaid 10:00, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

User pages are considered to be very much the user's property, mistakes and all. People can be very annoyed at even the most trivial change (though Wikipedia policies do allow or require certain changes). User talk pages are similar to article talk pages; there is some debate about whether users can remove things. I'd recommend sticking to the article namespace, where nobody can object to things being made better! Notinasnaid 10:17, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

Someone Deleted my information Unfairly
I was wondering if you could help me. I was working on the article for the James Charles Kopp federal court proceedings and someone who isnt registered and just left an ISP address deleted my update and believe it or not ADDED grammatical errors I had fixed (ie: originally "pictures of aborted" changed into "pictured of aborted". It was all in my own words and I sourced everything correctly. You can see what I mean when you go to the history page and click on the submission I made at 2:35am EST and he made at 2:53am EST and compare versions. I was wondering how do I report this person? I added back in my information but I hope I don't get banned because I have added more than 3 updates today.

It was the 128.227.1.39 I have left that person a statement on their user talk page stating that I feel its vandalism to delete accurate info and to CAUSE intentional grammatical errors.

I have closed the Dravidian people article dispute MedCab Case which you had submitted. I am not disagreeing with your concerns, but it seems that you are having a user conduct dispute and these kinds of issues are not handled by MedCab. The Dravida page notes it as Prakrit coming from a Tamil word with a similar meaning to what I gave. That South India is an entity different than North India is obvious. That these are the product of two different races is completely debatable. While the word Aryan has been hijacked by certain people, its not like certain people do "Dravidian" much justice either. Its impossible to deny that the South Indian ethnic groups are different than North Indian ones, but they arent separate. Religion is debatable as well, though there are more Saivites percentagewise in Tamil Nadu, there are huge centers of Saivism in Gujarat, Kashmir, and Bali as well. Also South Indian belief systems mirror mainstream Hinduism as our land was the birthplace of Valmiki, Adi Shankara and other figures.Bakaman 18:04, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
- In regards to your above reply, I will let you first know that I am not here to advocate for any political group whether they be DMK, AIADMK, BJP, RSS, or what not. I am also not hear to advocate nationalism of any kind. What I am interested in is contributing information in regards to the Dravidian civilizations overall in encyclopediatic format covering all aspects from within India and outside of India. - I am not religious and am not well versed in legends and religious stories. In regards to "encyclopedic format covering all aspects" I was hoping that this may prove to be a good page for you to make better. Right now many of the Hinduism editors support Aryan818, but it has also been brought to our attention that the Shiva page is a mess.
