Page moves[edit]

Wow Did you read any of the lengthy discussion about the last time someone unilaterally moved these pages? I don't even know where to begin... Did you just ignore consensus? Did you notice that one of the pages was protected precisely because of this? Why did you create the page Coat of arms of the Sahrwai Arab Republic? Were you going to have it deleted, or just leave it? Did you think no one else would notice or care? Why didn't you put a note on their respective talks? -Justin (koavf)·T·C·M 19:20, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Flag and coat of arms of the "sadr" is much more accurate
  • I did not remove any page but adjusted the redirects.
  • There is in principle no change as the flag of WS redirects to "sadr"
  • What I will discuss is to delted this redirect and use one that shows both flags, the Moroccan one ond the one of "sadr"
  • The other page was created by mistake. It does not include any wrong information. If you can/want to delete it feel free.
  • I don't like to discuss on my "personal" page as I rarely us it.
  • Go to the respective talk pages and discuss please.
  • If you are angry because you got blocked, then it's not my problem when you fool yourself.

Wow You totally ignored my questions, making my post almost moot. If you want to discuss this last post, go to Talk:Flag of Western Sahara. If you want to actually address the questions I asked you before, please do so here. -Justin (koavf)·T·C·M 20:48, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Did you notice that one of the pages was protected precisely because of this?
  • Why did you create the page Coat of arms of the Sahrwai Arab Republic?

You answered none of these questions directly, and only the first indirectly. -Justin (koavf)·T·C·M 21:40, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Morocco mediation[edit]

A request for mediation has been filed with the Mediation Committee that lists you as a party. The Mediation Committee requires that all parties listed in a mediation must be notified of the mediation. Please review the request at Wikipedia:Requests for mediation/Morocco, and indicate whether you agree or refuse to mediate. If you are unfamiliar with mediation, please refer to Wikipedia:Mediation. There are only seven days for everyone to agree, so please check as soon as possible.

Wikima, I can understand you're fustration at Justin but I implore you to sign this mediation as it is hard for me to see a conclusion which sees the sprited map being taken off the article. If you can get the oter people on the payties list to sign that would be really great as well. Cheers, Aussie King Pin 11:24, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Aussie, thank you for the wise words.
  • The problem with the mediation is that it goes against a consensus
  • But give me a chance to have an other think about it.
Thanks Aussie - wikima 22:00, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Western Sahara flag / coat-of-arms[edit]

Hi Wikima,

(The article is about the disputed territory of Western Sahara and not the "sahrawi rep." =>> PLease no flag, no coat of arms. Priority is content - Feel free to adjust the format - Thanks)

I'm confused by your infobox revert; I used "Flag of Western Sahara.svg" and "Coat of arms of Western Sahara.svg"...?  (You may also not be aware that it removed other information...?)  Regards, David Kernow (talk) 23:04, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi David,
  • I am not surprised about your confusion. Western Sahara has been consistently and systematically confused with the [Sahrawi_Arab_Democratic_Republic|"Sahrawi Republic"].
  • This has been with purpose and presents a clear abuse of Wikipedia for pro-polisario activits propaganda.
  • However, further to a neutral point of view, both, Western Sahra and "SADR" are two diferent things
  • The "SADR" is an exiled republic or government which is based in Algeria and which claims Western Sahara
  • Western Sahra is the disputed territory.
  • The flag, coat of arms etc apply to the first one, the "SADR". Western Sahara as disputed territory has no flag and such things.
  • It is mostly administrated by Morocco. In this sense the flag that is effectively and mostly used for Western Sahara would be rather the Moroccan one.
  • But this would not be neutral as a neutral point of view does not recognise the sovereignty of Morocco nor the so called "SADR" (position of the UN or the European Union for instance).
  • Morocco is however recognised as the administrating power in the territory.
  • Sadly this is not the case in Wikipedia. Western Sahara is widely presented as a country, a state etc..
Thanks - wikima 20:19, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your summary. I've restored the infobox, but without the flag and coat-of-arms; is this acceptable...?  Yours, David (talk) 00:21, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • No problem and thanks, David. wikima 21:14, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

I agree with your text above. I renamed the Coat of arms of Western Sahara to Coats of arms of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (Commons:Category:Coats of arms of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic explains the bad spelling), but I read the archives of Talk:Flag of Western Sahara afterwards. What can we do to restore impartiality? Can this link help? (notice that there is no flag on the right of the country/location name in the dark blue zone). --Juiced lemon 19:32, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Juiced lemon,

  • Glad to know and thank you. The item is definitely presented in a biased way and must be redone. Wikipedia should not care about Polisario's and pro-Polisario activists opinions.
  • Sources like this that one help as they make it clear that WS is a territory and not a state.
  • This topic had apparently been taken to the Move requests page WP:RM. If you manage to go through the archive then that would be great. Any action in this sense is appreciated.
Thanks & Regards - wikima 20:01, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well I'd be happy to unprotect, yes. --Robdurbar 16:14, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikima,
If someone makes a mistake within the work they contribute to an article, please do not simply revert all their work; correct the mistake. Thank you. David Kernow (talk) 05:07, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

David, I reverted to the last version because I couldnot fix the template...
Understood; all that should be required is changing information to the right of the equals signs (=) or deleting entire rows. (If you're unsure about the latter, simply delete the information after the equals sign and someone should tidy-up any strange text that might then show.) Is there anything still incorrect on the template...?  If so, let me know and I'll amend it; by comparing the amended version with the current version you can then see how it was done. Yours, David (talk) 07:44, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Ok David, when others change your changes because there are "mistakes" in them then just don't get back to your version as it was including these same "mistakes".
I guess I try to weigh the amount of work lost by a reversion against the amount kept by not reverting and keeping a few small-scale mistakes.
  • If yo have a look a the comments lines in the history - as you rightly recommend - you will see what these "mistakes" are, respectively what others wanted to change, namely in our case the "Sahrawi Republic", to delete the currency and the calling code from the box.
  • I will try to delete them again, in your template. If then the box shows "strange text" then please come and fix it.
You've successfully deleted them; and I've now replaced them with the value "n/a" ("not appropriate", "not available"). This should remove the "strange text" that has appeared (the names of the parameters deleted). Hope all looks okay to you and that the changes are apparent here.
Thanks - wikima 19:07, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Addendum: Also there was a footnote next to the map (now striped version). Can you fix? Thanks wikima 19:11, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Do you mean the footnote that was number 3, also now removed...?
Yours, David (talk) 21:17, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • I mean the footnote nr 1. It is related to the map and must show there, next to the map. Just take one minute time, use the history, check how it was and make it axactly the same.
Oh, now I understand – sorry not to realize before!  Hope you agree that using the "map_caption =" parameter is an improvement.
  • Please can you simply delete both rows "Currency" and "Calling Code"? If your template cannot do this then I would prefere to go back to the fomer one as it is more flexible and easy to hanlde by users who, like me, don't know about all the technical details.
Thanks - wikima 21:27, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Done. As a result of your requests, the {{Infobox Country or territory}} template is further improved!  Thanks, David (talk) 21:47, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you David! - wikima 21:57, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sure that RASD/SADR, Polisario and Western Sahara are different and I'm sure that moroccan occupation is not legal before the referendum. The only part of West Sahara where the RASD/SADR is present is Tifariti and Bir-Lehlou. I appreciate some of your correction. Who is a "brick wall" ?!?[edit]

I would suggest you have a little think of what you are doing:

  1. You are rejecting a discussion and just reverting without delivering any argument or additional information
  2. And you do by attacking personally someone who is inviting you to discuss, treating him of "brick wall".

Szvest - Wiki me up ® 15:14, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi wikima,

I assume that you did the infobox for Western Sahara. If this is the case,
  • Please remove the palce holder for the flag and the coat of arms. They should not appear there. WS is a territory.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. The absence of the {{{image_flag}}} parameter should mean that neither the missing flag nor missing coat-of-arms images should appear, so I'm working to fix this now.

  • Is there a possibility to use something everybody can edit? If not I will make the effort to get the old editing back. Editing should not be dependent on technic.

This is the previous version of the template, which includes a mixture of HTML, wikicode and wikicode-by-templates (i.e. {{!}}, {{!!}}, {{!-}} etc). These three methods are each more or less sensitive to how their code is formatted, i.e. formatting that works in one section of the template's code is likely to produce very different (i.e. dysfunctional) results in another. Are you sure you'd prefer to return to this situation...?
Yours, David Kernow (talk) 16:11, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi David,

  • Thanks for the quick reaction. I appreciate.
  • I don't have a preference to any version. I only find important to make sure coding is no barrier for editing as not everyone is familiar with the tricks of templates for instance
  • Any solution that provides the possibilty for all users to change content easily and without destroying the format is welcome to me.
  • It may help if you could link, in a discret manner, the template at the bottom of the box. Users who wish to make changes will be able to track back to the very template.

Thanks for your effort & regards. wikima 16:18, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm glad I happened to be here when you sent your message!  If you visit Western Sahara now, hopefully everything will be back in order.
I understand exactly what you mean about coding; before becoming involved with Wikipedia, I knew almost no HTML, CSS, etc and have learned the little I know now from puzzling over the code here. So I'm keen to make complex code as consistent and readable as possible – hence, for example, the spacing and indentations in the current {{Infobox Country or territory}} code. Maybe, though, you'd prefer a different kind of layout...?  Re providing a link to the template, a {{Tnavbar}} is what's needed, which I'll add now; thanks for this suggestion. Yours, David (talk) 16:42, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • David, the box looks right now, thanks for the swift action
  • Re the footer (This box: view • talk • edit), I think this is really good. many of us can follow back with templates and try to find their ways to edit them if needed. However I when I click the links I am guided to empty pages rather. But may be this is to be so. I'll have an other look into the details when I have more time.
Thanks for your help! Regards - wikima 21:13, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Footer: My mistake – should now be corrected. Best wishes, David (talk) 02:00, 12 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Follow-up[edit]

Hi again Wikima,
I thought you ought to be aware of this thread in case you notice and wonder why the view-talk-edit links are now missing. Yours, David (talk) 09:00, 15 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Wikima, (I am writing in reference to this.) On this page, I am trying to reword the first sentence so as to have good English and neutrality. The wording to which you reverted has a few flaws including a misused semicolon, a comma splice, and strange wording. I assure you that I am not pro-Polisario or pro-Moroccan. Perhaps you disliked the "subsequent partial occupation by Morocco" part. I can understand this, and I hope to have fixed it (see here). « D. Trebbien (talk) 2007 May 13 00:55 (UTC)

Hi Trebbien,
  • Indeed much if not most of stuff on Western Sahara had been written from a pure pro-polisario POV and it is still taking a huge effort to get things balanced.
  • Thanks for you message and I value really your action. We need neutral editors, who take all aspects of the topic into consideration, not only the polisarian side.

License tagging for Image:Flag of sadr.svg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Flag of sadr.svg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

Hello,

I have requested the deletion of this article. I should be pleased to read your opinion in the discussion page Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sahraoui Scout Association. Regards. --Juiced lemon 11:25, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on States that have suspended or cancelled their recognition of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Repbulic, by Koavf (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because States that have suspended or cancelled their recognition of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Repbulic fits the criteria for speedy deletion for the following reason:

Chad, etc.[edit]

Again Your post on my talk is offensive, implying that I'm illiterate. Please don't resort to tactics like this in the future. As for our respective sources, mine is a source from one of the interested parties, while yours is not and is, in fact, from a party that has an incentive to deny this story. If you have a more reliable source, I'd be happy to see it. -Justin (koavf)·T·C·M 02:24, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Your source is the known propaganda agency of Polisario: SPS-RASD (BTW a very bad one).
  • If we have discussed this in the talk page and if I had showed you that there is information on Chad denying that news, then at least wait and discuss instead of blindly reverting.
  • If you just could stop reverting everything that does not suit your pro-püolisario POV, that would be great.
  • Please make an effort.
Thanks - wikima 18:26, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Propaganda I never said that SPS wasn't propaganda; furthermore, I have freely admitted that it is. That having been said, whether or not it is propaganda is irrelevant to whether or not it is true. I have still not seen any information from Chad denying this; only third-party sources. If you just could stop reverting everything that does not suit your pro-Morocco POV, that would be great. Please make an effort. Thanks. -Justin (koavf)·T·C·M 02:49, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Your behaviour is simply unacceptable and you are exhausting the community again.
  • There is an information by SPS that Chad has diplomatic ties, again, with the so-called rasd. But MAP has published a denial of Chad's governement.
  • You, however, keep reverting to the initial "source". It seems to be true for you because it is SPS.
  • This information must at least be kept out until it is clarified and a neutral source has been found on this.
  • And now, give it a think and give some peace please, because what you are doing is beyond reason.
wikima 21:49, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • And now here is the source MAP is referring to. It is on the site of the government of Chad, which was down yesterday when checked it:

Chad's site? That site is owned by a German and hosted there; I don't know that it's "Chad's site." Furthermore, I don't know enough French to really read this article, but I'm willing to believe your translation is accurate. -Justin (koavf)·T·C·M 05:29, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • This is simply silly.
  • If you are willing to believe that information is accurate (unless you prove someone is making jokes on behalf of the gov. of Chad) so why do you revert to your version on the page of the so-called sahrawi republic?
wikima 18:59, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Silly You're right; it is silly. I do not believe the source is accurate; I never wrote that. I think your translation of the source is accurate, although I'm not sure. -Justin (koavf)·T·C·M 16:12, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content which gains a consensus among editors.

I put the same message on User talk:Koavf. Please find someone to mediate, these reverts are really annoying. --Gribeco 02:40, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The message is a warning to stop revert-warring each other. If reverts continue, I will notify the admins. I am not offering my own services as a honest broker, because I can be accused of bias. Thank you for participating constructively. --Gribeco 18:42, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Flag of the SADR[edit]

Hello,

According to discussion in Template talk:ESH, the idea that Western Sahara has no flag is accepted. Is there something which prevents the move of Flag of Western Sahara to Flag of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic? --Juiced lemon 20:08, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • I don't understand your question very well. Do you mean in the technical sense, so that any attempt to move the page fails technically?

Flag of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic[edit]

I honestly believe that we should build a new article from scratch, since whatever copy and paste move has been done is a violation of our policies. I will write it again, but that will require another deletion. Is this acceptable? User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 22:07, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Zscout370,
  • In fact I don't understand your concern.
  • If you build a new article, koavf will certainly come, put all his Polisario POV or move to his Polisario versions of Western Sahara.
  • But up to you. I am with you as long as the action makes sure Western Sahara is not mixed-up/confused/subtituted with the "Sahrawi Republic" and shows that they are two separate things.
Thanks - wikima 22:19, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, it is fixed. I plan on expanding it, but I hope to get the basic information right. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 22:28, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • It looks good to me. Thanks - wikima 22:38, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Your welcome. The reason why Kovaf is calling it a copy and paste was that it was in the process of being moved from a period a time in 2006, but an editor copied the text and pasted into a new article. This is what admins delete a lot; so to prevent that again, a new article is made and now, the only issues is with POV, which I don't think it will happen much. Flags articles[edit]

Stop it, please Note that on articles like Flags of Africa, there are no asides, explanatory notes, etc. on any entry of any flag. Why should the Flag of Western Sahara be any different? -Justin (koavf)·T·C·M 22:46, 7 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

ANI[edit]

I have brought up the disruptive editing of you, Koavf, and A Jalil here. Picaroon (t) 23:31, 7 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Are you there man?[edit]

Hi Wikima. Since Oct. 15th? I'd like to see you back. As i told Jalil and Justin, we want you here to write articles. We need balanced articles. There are so many new things to add. So many changes are going on in Morocco especially in politics. Zack and me wanted to try another strategy. All of you have taken a step behind. Well, it is good to calm down and feel fresh again. But i say it again Wikima. All of you can do better. Think consensus and stop thinking "you're right". The community is watching you and it would be so sad to see it ending w/ ANI and ArbCom cases. We tried informal mediation. It clearly failed. I was thinking about a formal one w/ the help of the Mediation Committee. But there only a couple of people editing your subjects. If you block these people, that's it. You will tell me that Justin was already indef and got blocked tons of times but many things have changed in Wikipedia. Among them the fact that the community started to ignore the block log. In other words, you appear a few times in a short time span at the ANI and you get your first few blocks. You'd get nervous. You'd go mad unintentionally calling names and go revert again. Then you may get an indefinite. You don't have to get a long blocklog to get indef. You still can come back but only after a few months or 1 year if one is lucky enough. Please consider coming back and get us some ideas on how to work on that. Or you can still name a few areas using a list of a few lines. Please reply via talk page or email as you see fit. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up® 21:53, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Join the WikiProject Western Sahara Neutrality![edit]

Hello Wikima. I noticed you were interested in Western Sahara. So please come to the new WikiProject Western Sahara Neutrality! Please quit the other Western Sahara project. Thanking you in advance. Moroccan Sahara (talk) 21:25, 5 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article DM Fail has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Article covers a neologism not supported by secondary sources, and therefore fails WP:NOT (specifically WP:NEO).

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. A tag has been placed on Festival of Amazigh Film requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organized event (tour, function, meeting, party, etc.), but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Epeefleche (talk) 04:36, 6 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
