Images[edit]

Hi,

You uploaded some painting thumbnails today mentioning that you were the source. I assume the actual creator of the paintings was Had Verheijen. If this is the case, those paintings need to be licensed for use under the GFDL, or released into the public domain, before they can be uploaded to Wikipedia. Please add the appropriate copyright tag to the images and list the correct source for the images; in the meantime I'm going to tag them as "no source" images.

Also I listed the "Had Verheijen Painter" article for deletion on the grounds of non-notability. If you disagree, you can discuss the listing of the article over at its AFD page here.

Thanks - Tempshill 20:36, 18 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

PS: I noticed you listed a couple of the paintings as "copyrighted but can be used for any purpose". This doesn't appear to be the case, as the painter's Tripod web site appears to be selling prints of the pictures. Please verify the copyright status of the paintings before marking any more of them with that tag. Thanks again - Tempshill 20:46, 18 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Africa[edit]

Hi Willem! I am not sure if you've already heard about Wikipedia:Africa-related regional notice board and Wikipedia:African Collaboration of the Fortnight. Cheers -- Szvest 10:01, 1 January 2006 (UTC) Wiki me up™[reply]

External link[edit]

Hi. Please do not add that site, it counts as self-promotion, which is not permitted (see WP:WEB). Thanks. El_C 11:07, 1 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again. You're still adding those links. I take it you did not read my comment directly above (?). Please respond. Thanks again. El_C 11:21, 1 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Response Willem to El_C us-africa is a not-for-profit Africa Portal to promote Africa. You consider my link adding as self-promotion, and that is absolutely not the case because US-Africa is sincere Africa promotion without any advertising, and Africa must get all the attention it can get. Each day the site gets over 2,500 hits from individuals, organizations, companies, and schools who would like to get some more information about Africa. Please reinstall my added links at the country pages. Thank you for reconsideration.

I have a couple questions about this article. First, I am not sure what you mean when you describe your site as "independent". Secondly, I am not sure that this award meets Wikipedia:Notability guidelines. As such, it is likely that it will be marked for deletion. This is also a probability for the Tulip Awards article. It is generally more polite to leave the editing and especially creation of articles of these sorts to others, less they be seen as less encyclopedia pages and more as marketing (see Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not). I would recoment cleaning up both articles and adding content which shows why they are notable.

Feel free to ask questions about this here, on my talk page, or on the discussion pages for those articles, and I or someone else will try to help. Also, do not be too discouraged if either of these articles are criticised or even deleted. You should feel free to put some of their information on your user page while the awards build notariety. Response from Willem to Smmurphy

Dear Smmurphy. As you know from your wiki-involvement with African topics, you probably have noticed my sincere engagement with the wellbeing of Africa. I am a European living and working in Africa, spending 30% of our company profits into micro-credits/loans to local initiatives in West Africa without charging any interest. Besides I provide Internet space for free and create pages for of charge to African artists and small scale entrepreneurs who don't have money and means to add a page at the Internet. Due to my background, my experience and love for Africa, I feel an obligation to assist in the promotion of Africa. Therefore I created the Internet Portal US-Africa with country files, link-collection, Mother Africa Award, etc. In the past 5 years I perhaps invested 7,000 hours to create and maintain the US-Africa Portal without any fund from whomever and consider my ABC-link collection as one of the finest at the Internet. Anyway that is what the UN says about it! One of the instruments to create more awareness for and from Africa is the Mother Africa Poll Award, please don't delete Mother Africa from Wikipedia the same User:El_C did with my added links at relevant country pages. If you and User:El_C still feel you must kick me out, you kick Africa. Please go ahead but I think it would be a sad move. In stead I ask you to assist me and improve the article and re-install my added links. Give it a chance. Thank you.

Image copyright problem with Image:Emil-Klein.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Emil-Klein.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. Shyam (T/C) 13:52, 11 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Mother Africa Award, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. -- Ezeu 17:54, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Had-himself1thumb.jpg listed for deletion[edit]

An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, Image:Had-himself1thumb.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please look there to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:00, 29 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
