Nomination of Labes family for deletion[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Labes family is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Labes family until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Largoplazo (talk) 18:01, 28 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The Labes family are indeed a notable family despite their small size. Jef Labes was a world-famous musician throughout the 1970’s and 1980’s and his son Jon Labes is an entrepreneur, filmmaker and executive which is proven through his IMDb page and through his Bloomberg profile. https://m.imdb.com/name/nm2430686/ and https://www.bloomberg.com/research/stocks/private/person.asp?personId=34877606&privcapId=217618943&previousCapId=217618943&previousTitle=Mixation . However if the family is too small to have their own page, it would be helpful to the community to create a page for Jon. WillowTree70079 (talk) 04:25, 30 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I can't find a single reference to "the Labes family" or "the Labeses" that relates to the family of Jef Labes. A family having individually notable members doesn't automatically make the family notable. Notable families are like the Kennedys, the Bushes, the Rockefellers, the Vanderbilts, and the Duponts. Please reply[edit]

In light of my comments on your editing history and that of User:TheodoreLabes at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Labes family, specifically these, can you please let me know whether everything you've written is true and whether you can prove any of it? It seems very hard to believe that a family with $25 $75 $175 $525 million needs to hold a fundraiser to cover medical expenses. By the way, I'm sorry about what Eva Labes is going through, but that has no bearing on what you've been writing here, and claiming that the Labes family is incredibly wealthy if they aren't could lead people to accuse the family of fraud for claiming a need for help with those expenses. Information icon Hello, I'm Shellwood. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions —specifically this edit to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Labes family— because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Help Desk. Thanks. Shellwood (talk) 22:36, 28 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion pages, as you did with this edit to Labes family. Otherwise, it may be difficult to create consensus. If you oppose the deletion of an article, please comment at the respective page instead. Thank you. Shellwood (talk) 22:36, 28 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The fundraiser held by Jef and Eva Labes was not for Eva’s individual medical expenses but was for the medical costs of the millions of people who share her condition. The Labes family used their position of wealth to hold the fundraiser to be able to help people who share Eva’s condition but do not have the financial resources to get the help they need. At the gathering, the Labes family donated several million dollars to the cause. The Labes family are indeed very wealthy. However, there is very little proof of this due to their generally private public relations except through articles such as their tax returns and their charity. WillowTree70079 (talk) 04:21, 30 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The source says "All funds raised at this concert will go directly to support Eva’s medical treatment and the Labes’ family."
As for their being little proof: Anything for which there is little or no reliable proof may not be in a Wikipedia article. Wikipedia requires verifiability, meaning that everything in an article should be verifiable from reliable sources, based on Wikipedia's definition of those. Wikipedia isn't a place for announcing developments that haven't already been covered elsewhere. Largoplazo (talk) 11:01, 30 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Specifically, you have been blocked for removing tags improperly as described above.331dot (talk) 08:49, 2 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I would also strongly urge you to not make edit summaries like this accusing others users of agendas, unless you have direct evidence of one. Assume good faith. 331dot (talk) 08:51, 2 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to be blunt and note the boneheadedness of the accusation given that (a) I have no idea what the religion is of either Jef Labes or WillowTree70079, and (b) I am Jewish. I have only disgust for people leaping to unfounded accusations of bigotry in reaction to something that displeases them rather than attributing it to the reasons that have been plainly and earnestly given. That's no way to go through life. Largoplazo (talk) 09:49, 2 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sockpuppet investigation[edit]

An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/CrystalGeiser, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.
