Welcome![edit]

Hello, Wilma72, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I notice that one of the first articles you edited was Campion School, Hornchurch, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or any other editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One firm rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Campion School, Hornchurch[edit]

Can I remind you that Wikiepdia is an independent organisation, not owned by Campion School, Hornchurch. It is not appropriate for the school to amend their own article, nor should promotional fluff be added to the article. Please desist from this type of editing or I will take steps to have you blocked from editing wikipedia. Bleaney (talk) 11:26, 4 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I was perfectly civil... it was your actions which were disruptive. The school has no control over this article, and indeed staff from the school should not be editing it as it can be seen as a conflict of interest. I sincerely hope you are not a teacher at this school, otherwise god help the poor pupils. - Bleaney (talk) 13:01, 4 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You should probably have a read of WP:COI and WP:OWN. The school cannot dictate what is in the article. noq (talk) 13:13, 4 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Bleaney - And your last message was civil I suppose! I intend to take the matter of your last sentence further!

As a school we often have to remove entries made possibly by students or ex-students. We have not intended to dictate any article and the first edit by Bleaney was considered to have been done by a student initially. Then we saw what seemed to be an 'argument' between Bleaney and Noq (we knew Noq was a legitimate editor).

A message of guidance from Bleaney would have been far more appropriate than those he sent above. We are obviously not experts at this!

Not sure where you saw an argument between me and User:Bleaney. Certainly I cannot see anything in the edit history of the schools article. And your edit summaries did seem to indicate a wish to control the page - "Any changes of this nature need to be authorised by the school" and "The school would prefer to make their own edits" do sound like ownership claims. Bleaney is an experienced editor with more the 50,000 edits over a 6 year period - such editors rarely make vandal edits. noq (talk) 19:12, 4 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No argument between me and Noq, apologies if I was a bit short with you Wilma72, but you reverted edits with the above reasons which sounded like ownership claims. Please remember that Wikipedia is not here to promote yours or any school, material added to the article must be informative and not simply promotional. I will keep the page in my watchlist and will respond to as much vandalism on it as I can. One more question.... You said you thought my first edit was done by a student... so what if it was? The edit was constructive. I sincerely hope that your school is not discouraging pupils from editing this page, as thats just as bad as you owning it. - Bleaney (talk) 23:04, 4 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

September 2013[edit]

There seems to have been some confusion here. When asked for a brief description I appreciate that my responses were not worded as correctly as they could have been. My only issue is with the manner in which User:Bleaney has responded to this and his last sentence is frankly nothing short of personal and rude. I am very surprised and disappointed that an experienced editor would behave in this manner. As I have said earlier, I would have appreciated some guidance. Wilma72 (talk) 12:38, 5 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

And my only issue is that you seem to have alluded to the fact that the school is trying to control who edits this page and what goes in it - both inappropriate. Let me be clear - ANYONE is free to edit Campion School, Hornchurch, including current and past students of the school as long as the edits are constructive. While pure vandalism or factual inaccuracies should be removed, the school cannot and should not control the content of this page... even if the information added is not complimentary to the school. Finally only relevant material should be added, purely promotional material has no place in Wikipeida - it is an encyclopedia! Wilma, I am very surprised and disappointed that a member of staff from a school would deliberately take actions to block the edits of another to this page without familiarising themselves with Wikipedia policy. - Bleaney (talk) 13:10, 6 September 2013 (UTC) 13:07, 5 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
