Copyediting[edit]
Hi! I'm the content editor for your course and I just wanted to let you know that I made some edits to a section you added to Down to the Countryside Movement. What I did was edit some of the material for flow and to fit Wikipedia's WP:MoS. When editing, avoid referring to your coursework - by which I mean avoid things like "This week’s notes", as this is not only time sensitive but would also be unclear to readers who were not part of the class. You should also make sure that you are careful about tone, as part of this was written more like an academic or reflection paper than an encyclopedia article. The material you added wasn't bad, it's just that there's a bit of difference between an academic paper and an encyclopedia article. (Don't feel bad - it took me a long time to get used to the difference myself!) You also need to be careful to give context to what you're adding. You mention a student named Yang, but don't state exactly who Yang is or why they're pertinent to the overall movement. In most cases it's better to just add information in a general sense rather than focusing on one person, as this can get the basic information along more clearly and show more of a general idea of what was going on. Once you go with a person's specific details there's a certain risk of focusing specifically on their experiences, which may not always be indicative of what others went through, if that makes any sense.
Other than that, what you added was extremely interesting and I'd never heard of the Monsters and Demons movement - definitely something I hadn't known about before! Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 04:49, 11 May 2017 (UTC)
