COI

[edit]

I currently edit on behalf of Lazada Group. Because of this, in good faith I pledge the following:

  • I will fully disclose any COI for any future project.
  • instead of directly editing any existing WP articles, I will use the "edit request" function to propose content changes on the Talk page (this also provides peer review, to address bias before edits go live)
  • I will place any new articles I create through WP:AFC with a COI disclosure if such a disclosure is applicable.

FPC

[edit]

Hi Wintertanager,

Just wanted to welcome you to Featured pictures. Please don't be discouraged if your current nom doesn't get through. FPC can be a 'tough' place, but it's good to see new contributors there. Hope you can stay, add your opinion to other noms, and nominate again when you've got something you think is up to it. Cheers, --jjron (talk) 11:28, 15 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Wintertanager,

you have uploaded this image and credited author and source to Mrs. Blythe Masters. Besides that she may not really have shot it by herself, where/how did you get it. Did you contact her? Did she agree to the license under which you released it? Is there any email communication with her? I am asking this because I am admin on Commons, where the same image was uploaded by a different user. --Túrelio (talk) 09:45, 6 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Blythe-Masters.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Blythe-Masters.jpg, which you've sourced to http://www.crunchbase.com/person/blythe-masters. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Magog the Ogre (talk) 03:58, 19 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Rick Schwartz, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Penthouse (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi!

[edit]

Hi Wintertanager, hope you are doing well and everything is going good. Nice work on MT Carney, much appreciated. On the talk page there I've made a suggestion to change the article title to "M. T. Carney". Not a huge deal and with reasonable argument to made on both sides. Just a heads-up. Herostratus (talk) 03:57, 24 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Amanda Rosenberg

[edit]
No worry Wintertanager, Geo will be OK. He restores his gazillion deleted Wikipedia pages at NoStandardsPedia- Amanda Rosenberg, complete with section on her extensive views on "race relations"! Wikimandia (talk) 23:22, 26 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
And..... there it is - always an angle. What a joke and complete waste of my time and energy. Wintertanager (talk) 02:33, 27 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Nice work on John C. Mack

[edit]

BTW, I took a look at a couple of other articles you've created and John C. Mack looks great! I thought you might appreciate the encouragement.

Kimberly Ovitz can use some work in removing adverty/puffery stuff, but I'm not going to edit it. I thought maybe you might want to have a crack at it yourself.

Cheers. The Dissident Aggressor 17:29, 11 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

Hi there Wintertanager. I'm a volunteer on conflict of interest related subjects and came across your contributions in relation to another editor. I have a simple question: are you paid for the things you write about on Wikipedia? If the answer is yes, it's not the end of the world, but there are some things you will have to do to continue editing here. You can just reply here, I'll be watching for an answer. Thanks. Brianhe (talk) 15:31, 5 August 2015 (UTC) Brianhe (talk) 02:16, 6 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Also, I'm not the first one to point this out: this comment on May 8 and this comment on May 9 both pointed out the same nature of your edits. — Brianhe (talk) 02:18, 6 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hi! Thanks for the question - the answer is no! I am someone who believes in BLP ethics and have a great record in creating neutral, encyclopedic and well sourced encyclopedic entries. I have always supported, encouraged and participated fair edits to any page I've created. Recently (a few months ago) there was an issue that came up - I honestly thought two editors were aggressively stripping down pages I'd created to almost nothing, based on differing opinions on what is neutral and encyclopedic. It was a ton of hard work wiped out in an instant. Since then I have thanked one of those editors - better understanding his point of view. That said, I think many neutral editors would also agree with mine (some of the pages have been edited down to the point of being far worse to a reader interested in the subject than they were before - they say almost nothing). The experience also caused me to stop editing altogether for a few months due to total discouragement and, frankly, incredulity. I have always taken pride in taking the high road, am judicial, reasonable, and passionate - think I have made strong contributions to WP and would like to continue doing so. Editors write about all kinds of topics on WP and I have a right to write (no pun intended) about what interests me: if that happens to be tech, business and ecommerce and not pop culture, comic books, movies, etc. so be it. Please reach out to me further, happy to correspond. Wintertanager (talk) 17:25, 6 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Recycling some words I wrote at WP:COIN recently, so apologies if it looks familiar. I write sometimes about authors who probably benefit from attention, and I write sometimes about rocks that don't care if they get attention (my history is also transparently documented at my userpage). But if all I wrote about was attention-seeking people, and never about rocks, it wouldn't be surprising to me if some other editor confronted me about it and at least asked the question "why"?
I did some analysis of your editing history, and your singular focus on attention-seeking subjects makes it hard to believe what you wrote above. Are you sure there isn't something, maybe a past employment relationship, that connects you to any of these subjects? Brianhe (talk) 17:40, 6 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, talk pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments, as you did at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard, is considered bad practice, even if you meant well. Even making spelling and grammatical corrections in others' comments is generally frowned upon, as it tends to irritate the users whose comments you are correcting. Inserting in-line comments in the middle of others' comments is not appreciated, nor is refactoring their comments and/or separating statements from their signatures. Thank you. The Dissident Aggressor 00:48, 7 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I did mean well, will reply below comments and not in-line. Wintertanager (talk) 01:25, 7 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Also the history of edit warrning[1] and not disclosing when directly asked in the past is concerning [2]
