Hi Rainbow! This is Emma. I'm just practicing leaving a message in the talk page of an article (in this case, your user page). Did you know that flies have compound eyes, which have approximately 4000 separate lenses? EmmaLKrukar (talk) 08:18, 2 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Dilnoza:

Hello Rainbow. Rainbow, thanks a million for all your efforts to contribute not only to Activism section, but also definition and impact to society part. I really appreciate it :) I think your topic "Activism" is more than appropriate in VAW page. While reading ACtivism section, several ideas came to my mind, that I would like to share with you :) Since we have already Wiki entries for 1, 2, and 3 waves of feminism, It would be great to highlight men/women's activism fighting worldwide against VAW through local and global campaigns or movements. For example (you dnt have to talk about all of them. It is just to give you some ideas): 1. 16 Days of ACtivism against VAW 2. Campaign Against Female Genital Mutilation 3. Anti-sexual harassment campaign (The Anti-Sexual Harassment Campaign in Egypt, for instance) 4. Zero Tolerance Campaign against sexual harassment (Case of India) 5. Campaign Against Dowry System 6. Campaign against domestic violence in India 7. Campaign against Rape by Women's Movement in India Even though they happen in different corners of the world, all of these campaigns are united to fight for a common cause.

While talking about 3rd wave, which is very remarkable in terms of putting in their agenda and fighting against VAW, I would suggest to stress it in the following sentence. " the third wave marks a period of feminism dealing with identity politics, body politics as well as the issues of violence.[40]" - Something like that: "the third wave marks a period of feminism dealing with VAW, identity politics, as well as body politics". — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dnigmonova (talkcontribs) 15:48, 11 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the Definition part, I have some suggestions too:

1. What do you think shall we romove sevral, not playing significant role, words: "phrase". "or known"in the 1st sentence: "The phrase violence against women (or known in short as VAW) is a technical term used... " and to start with " Violence against women (in short VAW) is a technical term used... "

2. It makes more sense to move WHO's table on typology of VAW (it can intro part for Types of violence section) into the 'Types of violence section

3. Shall we put it under the Achievements of the VAW movements? It seems to me it can be considered as feminist-activists' important achievements at the international level. "Significant progress towards the protection of women from violence has been made on international level as a product of collective effort of lobbying by many women’s rights movements; international organizations to civil society groups. As a result, worldwide governments and international as well as civil society organizations actively work to combat violence against women through a variety of programs. Among the major achievements of the women’s rights movements against violence on girls and women, the landmark accomplishments are the "Declaration on the Elimination of Violence Against Women” that implies “political will towards addressing VAW ” and the legal binding agreement, “the Convention on Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW).”[7] In addition, the UN General Assembly resolution also designated 25 November as International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.[8]"

Dear Dilnoza, thank you for your comments and I will check them out. PS. I have not had a chance to continue on with my work and I just have to leave it like this for now cause I have other assignments to do. So, this is not the structure that would be in my final and I have a lot more to do and to cover (in which I have not even put it in my sandbox yet.) But appreciated! For this comment: "1. What do you think shall we romove sevral, not playing significant role, words: "phrase". "or known"in the 1st sentence: "The phrase violence against women (or known in short as VAW) is a technical term used... " and to start with " Violence against women (in short VAW) is a technical term used... " if you see appropriate you can do it..(PS. I also agree with you) but this was there before I made any edition... and its in the intro part not definition. Please feel free to make changes! Wipadap (talk) 16:26, 11 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
