Non-baseball

Do you only do baseball? I fould something on Wikipedia that I would like to correct. There are several different redirects for Adam and the Ants. I can understand Adam & the Ants, but the rest are just silly. I'd like to delete them all with the exception of those 2. I tried, and I was told I needed an administrator's assistance.--Johnny Spasm (talk) 22:38, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

Sorry to disturb you but I was the editor who removed the Clown from the missing wikipedians list back in July and i think now more than a month later its time to readd him back because sadly i dont think he will be coming back. I just thought it would be best for you to do it since i dont really know him and unless you know some information i dont it would be best. Complete disappearance of Foca camp article from Wikipedia

You deleted: User:HanzoHattori/Foča camp

I contributed to this article. Merope moved it to HanzoHattori's User page then subsequently deleted the "Foca camp" page which linked to the page at HanzoHattori's User Page. I asked HH if he would restore it as an article once it had been worked on but it just stayed there. Is there any way you can rescue the work that I helped do on it? It should have been reinstated as a proper "Foca camp" article. The happenings at Foca were among the worst atrocities of the Bosnian war. "Foca camps" would in fact be a more accurate title. (Incidentally the Wikipedia convention of decapitalising the second elements of proper nouns is inexplicable.) --Opbeith (talk) 18:39, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your message, that's very helpful. The only problem is I only know how to work on existing articles, I don't know how to move an item from Userspace to the main entries. Can you point me to where I can find instructions? Thanks. -- Opbeith (talk) 07:36, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

Regarding Gem-In-I

Hello, Wizardman, I see you were the responsible for deleting the page Gem-In-I as per the AfD discussion. The page has been recreated, and it's still a candidate for deletion. I proposed it's deletion before learning that it had already been deleted before. Anyway, what I want to know is if there's any possibility of you taking a look at the previous version of the page, so that you can see if the page is a candidate for speedy deletion per CSD G4. Thank you, Victor Lopes (talk) 01:11, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

Yep, I noticed that. Anyway, thanks for your time! Victor Lopes (talk) 00:11, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

The Intention Craft

You removed the AfD on this page quoting 'no concensus' as a reason. I think you have missed the point that the article does not qualify for inclusion as it is not notable. 'No concensus' can be, and clearly has been in this case, created by obfuscation of the issue by fans of this band. The fact is that it should be deleted on the grounds quoted within the AfD WP:NOT. Will you please either re-instate the AfD (it has already been relisted) or delete the article. I have not asked you to merge it as it a duplication of much of the PRR page anyway and does not convey much relevant information. I understand your intentions were virtuous if somewhat misguided. Best wishes Spoilydoily (talk) 16:58, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

re your PROD, I took it to AfD because like the person who declined the original speedy, there may be enough. I think it needs some discussion and while we know AfD shouldn't be clean-up, it usually is so hopefully it will get fixed. That and I'm not familiar enough with creative professionals standards on WP:BIO. Happy Friday! TravellingCari 14:03, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

Re: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/MeeMix - Deletion Review

Hi Wizardman

My MeeMix article was deleted due to insufficient notability. In its Discussion page I tried to explain the reasons why I think that my article should not be deleted.

My article references various important blogs (a common medium for professional website reviewers), which are deemed as reliable in the field of internet companies. Since the current WP guidelines state that blogs in general should not be used as reliable sources, notability is much harder to achieve when writing about such subjects. In other areas, I agree with this guideline. However, when it comes to reviews about internet companies, I think this general policy may not be beneficial.

Further, I believe that, at lease within this particular field, the current WP guidelines for reliable sources may be unfavorably biasing new, smaller companies, and favorably biasing big, corporate companies, due to the use of PR companies. I opened a discussion about this in the Village Pump.

I would like ask for undeletion of my article, since I believe that notability within this specific field was achieved. Also, I do think that the issue of the aforementioned possible bias should be discussed further, and has particular relevance to the question of notability in my article.

Thank you. Rabend (talk) 20:02, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

Hi,
The discussion I opened in the Village Pump did not go very far, but I think that it did generate possible support for ad hoc acceptance of additional sources, such as professional blogs, as established contributors already cite these occasionally. I offered a suggestion there for such a mechanism. Thus, I'd like to ask you to reconsider the deletion of the MeeMix article, as it references several major pro blogs, which are substantial sources in the field of internet companies/websites. Thank you. Rabend (talk) 13:02, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia talk:Requests for comment/MAL01159

Just so you know, I find it odd that I am "urged to read the policies on original research, consensus, WP:V, and WP:NPOV.". This is because those policies were pointed out to me during the discussion. I read them, understood them, and followed them. I also feel that the term "disruption of this nature" needs to be defined. The way I read this is that if I were to further edit a page using verifiable facts, reliable sources and logic then I will get banned. —Preceding unsigned comment added by MAL01159 (talkcontribs) 22:25, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

You would be well advised not to continue discussion with that guy. You'll find that it's an endless loop. He's basically a troll. He's also a liar, as he claimed to have found something in the Elias record book that isn't there. [3] Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 21:39, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

Just wondering why you deleted the unused image fields from the ibox. RfC on Tony1

I've reopened it because the issue is not resolved. Tony1 has made it pretty clear that he's not open to discussing the issue and is actively ignoring (or misunderstanding) people who point out problems with his actions (and script) on his talk page, so I don't expect him to change his behavior... so I do expect the RfC to remain open for the standard 30 days to get as much feedback as possible and make as many people aware of the situation as possible. RfC is not a vote, it's a call for comments. --Sapphic (talk) 01:33, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

I note that the rules for admins clearly proscribe both the gaming of other admins' actions and, more importantly, the taking of admin action when there is a personal stake involved (conflict of interest). I'm intrigued that WP allows this to go unchecked. Tony (talk) 02:26, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

Hi, Wizardman. If you'd checked the history on this article, you'd have noticed that all attempts to expand the article and provide evidence of notability were deleted by a particluar editor as insufficiently referenced. It's difficult to find non-commercial references for Asian culture, so it remained just a stub. I went to some work to research and write the original article, as it was in the "requested" list, and don't appreciate that it's been so poorly treated. I know that good references are necessary, but I do think some latitude should be granted for underground popular Asian culture. You're just not going to find much in the way of scholarly articles on it.

For your kindness and message[4]. Since I had been a jobless judge from July 20, 1999, it was only last July, 2007, or 1 years, 2 months, and 27 days ago, that I found an global job in our great WikiUniverse. Sitting, not in the bench, but in the computer, and daily for 10 long hours (making sure that my edits would be remembered by generations, and our wisdom is shared by the world). In most of my single-one edits, I would spend average of 40 minutes, using good references like AFP, AP, NYT, BBC (coz other links, like CNN, MSNBC, etc. are so slow to open). I never ever revererted any edit, since I do not know how to revert, just re-added when needed. I had also invited many forum members to share their wisdom in Wikipedia, especially, when some forums email notify me to post[5]. Regards. --Florentino floro (talk) 06:19, 26 September 2008 (UTC)

King of Pop redirect

Looking at the edit history, someone (the IP) dissolved the redirect. Is there a way to semi protect a redirect or something? Cheers — Realist2 19:12, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

Sure, it was more a hypothetical thing. I image the album, as a reissue, will fade into obscurity rather soon, thus it still makes vastly more sense that King of Pop redirects to Michael Jackson. The reissue wasn't even released in the US and since a disproportionate number of visitors to wikipedia are American (I'm not by the way), it really never made sense. — Realist2 17:31, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

Articles for deletion/MeeMix - Deletion Review

Don't wanna bug you or nuthin', but any chance of reviewing the MeeMix deletion? Thanks. Rabend (talk) 13:54, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the note about the closure. (Sorry for the slow reply - holiday). I'm concerned about a couple of points. 1) The closure didn't censure the personal attacks and overt bad faith, which were major factors behind bringing the RFC and certainly ones which PW showed no sign of mending during its course. 2) Your closure recommendations aren't happening: PW isn't contributing elsewhere or writing the essay stating the scope of his COI; and is only technically avoiding editing the article that caused the problem, since he's being encouraged to write a fresh draft of it destined to be incorporated into the main article (with critical editors excluded from the process, nor any medical editors involved in what's a specialist medical topic). This looks like another train wreck waiting to happen... Gordonofcartoon (talk) 21:18, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

Thx for the reply (and also your work on this). I guess as nothing is happening to mainspace, nothing needs to be done at present. But I think he is being sent off an a wild goose chase, since the draft is going to be almost certainly problematical without editors involved who are familiar with overall preferred med article style and compliance with WP:MEDRS . Backlog graph

Hi
Heh, if I'd known that anyone ever looks at that graph I would have made changes like these obsolete a long time ago, by adding some kind of a month detection. :)
I guess I'm gonna do that now before the end of October (since June 07 is probably never going to get cleared).

The Excellent Userpage Award
I love your userpage design, and therefore think this is a more appropriate way of showing recognition for your efforts, than a mere message. Don't muck up now! Blooded Edge Sign/Talk 18:11, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

Missalina Rei

Thanks for the reply. I'm not going to waste any more time on it--this isn't the first attempt to delete it. However, I did want to make the point that Cyrus XIII is setting primary source requirements that seem unreasonable, given the subject matter. Luckily someone came forward who could reference every sentence in the Aliene Ma'riage article, but I don't have access to Japanese underground culture magazines myself. All I can provide on Missalina Rei is a stub from secondary references published in English. Pkeets (talk) 02:17, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

Florentino Floro

Hi, thanks for finally writing a conclusion to the RfC. Is there another step to take should he fail to take your advice? I realize that this might seem petty because it's only been a few hours since you closed the issue, but I think I need to ask this because he clearly didn't listen. Immediately following your warning not to write excessively long rants, he wrote one of his longest yet--in fact, it's a very long tirade about his right to have an excessively large userpage.

I'm not asking for any actual action now, as the RfC's only just finished, but I'd like to know how much of this blatant disregard of advice we're expected to take before taking him to task with the administration again. --Migs (talk) 13:29, 26 September 2008 (UTC)

a separate question...on the same subject

Hi Wizardman. I'm sorry to bring you back to this same subject again. I was obviously very involved in the Florentino Floro RFC, and in your conclusion you recommended that I try to avoid direct contact with floro. I'm trying to understand what that means, both practically and about how I've behaved. I do certainly have strong opinions on his behavior, but I have tried very hard to conduct myself well and civilly throughout this process. I have paid a lot of attention to floro over the last year, but I only do it to help wikipedia. I have always tried to give him constructive advice. I have seen too many editors turn a blind eye to his rampant bad editing, in effect enabling and encouraging behavior that is detrimental to the encyclopedia. I believe that somebody needs to pay attention, and nobody else was taking on that role. If you feel that I crossed a line, if any of my actions were inappropriate or if I behaved badly, I would sincerely like to know. regards, maxsch (talk) 18:22, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the note. I appreciate the clarification. maxsch (talk) 01:58, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

User:Florentino floro/Learned Treatise:Legal-Academic Values of Compleat User Page

Thanks again for you many times spent on our RFC. I created this User Subpage not just to submit refuting or contrary evidence to accusations against my User page, but: to present the problem in Philippines, here, regarding junking of Wikipedia by university professors, due to the Disclaimer. Now, I presented sources on USA, UK and Philippine laws on evidence - Learned treatise which require, us, article creators on history, art and science, to show proof of our expertise. Thus, I made a terse User Page with each lines supported by reliable sources accepted by the legal and academic community. As you ruled, let us move on, and not only that, I would add, let our articles created be made and accepted due to its reliability, and the Completeness of our User Pages. Cheers.[6]--Florentino floro (talk) 11:44, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

Wizardman, is this RFC/U on your watchlist? There have been recent updates; it appears the situation is far from resolved. WhatamIdoing (talk) 05:12, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
