IP editor vandalism[edit]

Thank you for noticing my reverts of vandalism; I appreciate the note! I'll keep an eye on those articles to make sure thhe vandal doesn't strike again; if he does, maybe it's time for a temporary block on that IP? (or on both IPs, now that there's an IPv6 editor doing it too?) I'm not familiar with the guidelines for blocking IPs. - Brian Kendig (talk) 21:52, 29 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome , perhaps I will get another administrator to help. Wizzito (talk) 21:54, 29 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, just wanted to make you aware that you breached WP:3RR on the Esme & Roy article. This appears to be your first time doing so and you haven't been warned about this policy previously. There are exemptions for 3RR but I don't think fixing MOS violations meets any of them, and I wouldn't say that these reverted edits rise to the level of vandalism. In the future I'd suggest bringing the matter to the edit warring noticeboard and not reverting further by yourself. Other users and administrators can evaluate the situation and revert, block, or protect as necessary without needing you to risk violating policy yourself. Cheers, --Chris (talk) 21:55, 18 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for telling me Crazycomputers. Just was confused about the whole situation in general as the editor kept reverting without an edit summary. I'll try to get another opinion next time. wizzito | say hello! 21:57, 18 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. And I do agree that the edit should have been reverted. I'd just hate to see a productive editor like yourself getting blocked because of a policy matter. Keep up the good work! --Chris (talk) 21:58, 18 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please help me?[edit]

Hi, I recently published an article about the actor Kristofer Kamiyasu, but it was deleted due to lack of credible references and links. I copy pasted the article I wrote before deletion and added the required references and links to credible articles outside of Wikipedia. However, It was almost immediately deleted, speedy deletion beacuse it seemed "to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kristofer Kamiyasu." the person performing the deletion can not have read the updated material. What do I do now? I'm quite new to this and just wanted to publish a page about an actor I admire. Can you help me?

 Sanna Bergman (talk) 15:11, 20 June 2021 (UTC) Sanna[reply]

Sanna Bergman Hi, sorry for getting back to you so late, I haven't been feeling too well. Did you add new references or did you use the same references from the old article? If it was the same article with the same references used, it was indeed a re-addition of information that was previously deleted at Articles for Deletion, and therefore eligible to be speedy deleted. wizzito | say hello! 21:29, 21 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Also, if Kristofer is not yet eligible for a Wikipedia article, but you would still like to have the information somewhere on Wikipedia, you can write it as a draft so you can keep working on it until it does meet notability. You can also submit it through Articles for Creation, but it may be declined due to failing notability (but it will not be deleted unless it hasn't been edited for more than 6 months) wizzito | say hello! 21:34, 21 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for you reply, I did in fact add new references, and deleted the old, but it was speed deleted anyways. Is there any chance to undo the deletion? Take care- Sanna Sanna Bergman (talk) 10:48, 23 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Moving articles to Draft space[edit]

Hello, Wizzito,

This is just a reminder that whenever you move an article from main space to draft space, you must post a notice to the talk page of the page creator informing them of what you've done. Most editors who do work with AFC use a script that "Draftifies" the article and posts this notice for you. I don't know the script off-hand but if you ask at WT:AFC, I'm sure someone could refer you to the page where you can get this installed. It makes things very easy. If you don't want to use the script, you should post these notices on your own so the page creator is informed of your action. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 01:38, 22 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

My apologies, I guess Twinkle doesn't notify the page creator when a move is done. Can you direct me to the script? wizzito | say hello! 01:41, 22 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page watcher) Wizzito, the script I use is this one. It automatically notifies the creator of the page that you've "draftified" it, and deals with a lot of other stuff too (disabling categories and so on). You can customise the default message sent to the user, and the edit summary for the move. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 09:58, 22 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

3D Spongebob Sound Variations[edit]

Hello Wizzito,

You revert doing wrong, this is everywhere in Youtube now, for example: when search Henry Stickmin + certain choices, the autocomplete will show list under, one of autocomplete recommends is Sound Variatons. The popular video genre Sound Variations recently become search easily when search type certain meme or popular games, such Among Us or Mario with the sound effect, you will find lot of Sound Variation videos. I don't understand why 3D Spongebob are become the popular subject of Sound Variations that the source usually taken up for. I looking 3D Spongebob Sound Variations pretty much, when I search 3D Spongebob or Spongebob 3D, any combinations with 3D Spongebob, most search results are Sound Variation videos. However when search Kamp Koral or search Kamp Koral with common words, it's hardly to find, but when type certain dialogue to search, it will can find too.

3D Spongebob, especially of Kamp Koral, many of dialogue or sounds are countless, inexhaustible source that Sound Variations channel taken to make Sound Variation videos. Going to Youtube, search "3D Spongebob" you will find out how the video type incredible rampant is. Weather Top Wizard (talk) 12:12, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Weather Top Wizard! Just because something is well-known doesn't exactly mean that it is notable enough as a mention in an article or an article itself. When adding something to an article, it needs that have sources that are reliable. So, if you can find a reliable source that talks about these variations as being notable enough, it can be added to an article. But remember that something having a lot of views on YouTube does not necessarily mean that it is notable enough for Wikipedia. Here is a good guide on citing sources to get you started. wizzito | say hello! 14:43, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • By the way, YouTube is not considered a reliable source. wizzito | say hello! 14:54, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Know Your Meme has a dedicate article about Sound Variations, however it's not the reliable source conform the quality to fit in Wikipedia.

Pocoyo is also popular subject of Sound Variations channel videos in Youtube, one of the channel STUNE, created a series of Sound Variation videos crossover with Masha from Masha and the Bear, although all video are removed due violate Youtube community guidelines, the video types are thriving to other Sound Variations channel to make their crossovers. I don't know why Pocoyo become so popular to Sound Variations, but I can relatable those thing is, video games (Especially Mario series and Cut the Rope) and shows or Youtube channels whose primitively towards children (especially Spongebob and Pocoyo) are usually are countless source of Sound Variation channels to make their video. The most I cannot understand is why someone thought the idea to make Pocoyo & Masha crossover than into sound variations? That's waste potential! and the videos feel like the horrible Youtube Kids videos! Weather Top Wizard (talk) 11:37, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Virginia GNIS cleanup[edit]

Hi Wizzito, I see you're working on cleaning up GNIS stubs. Have you considered proposing a bulk-delete of unimproved GNIS stubs created by Ser Amantio di Nicolao? Given that there are hundreds/thousands of these, it might be the best way to go, rather than sending them through AFD/Prodding them one-at-a-time. This was how many of the stubs created by Carlossuarrez46 have been dealt with. When Ser Amantio di Nicolao literally created 24 of these articles in five minutes (see 17 December 2010 here), I can't believe many people are going to argue that they are valuable and should be kept, unless anyone has substantially improved on them in the meantime. FOARP (talk) 16:40, 6 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'm hesitant on doing so because some of them might actually be legitimate communities, but that does sound like a good idea, just probably need to filter such a list first. wizzito | say hello! 03:16, 7 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

FOARP please see my message above wizzito | say hello! 11:28, 7 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Wizzito. Agree that some methodology should be applied to exclude articles that have been expanded or which are based on more than just GNIS. However, if we are expected to do a full WP:BEFORE on every single one of these articles, which typically took a matter of seconds to put together, often by simply cutting/pasting material out of the GNIS database, this will take for eternity. Running into an issue[edit]

There’s a user at 2021 in American television who’s removing the same info repeatedly and did so again even when it was sourced, and I don’t quite have a grasp of which templates are where yet. They’re not being very communicative in their edit summaries and when they do they’re making declarations without even discussing it. It’s just not pleasant, so I’d like some assistance dealing with it.--141.157.254.24 (talk) 02:54, 19 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure how to deal with it besides maybe taking your concerns to the administrator's noticeboard. An admin can help you there. wizzito | say hello! 02:56, 19 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

They reported me for vandalism, apparently. And when I gave a 3RR warning and a notice about putting them on the Edit warring noticeboard, they removed it, said I had no power to do so, and they called it harassment, adding to their report--141.157.254.24 (talk) 06:28, 20 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Harvey Endings Revert[edit]

Dear Wizzito, I think there was a misunderstanding regarding the reversion of my edit in the episode section "Harvey Endings". You see, i have knowledge about the series in general and i can assure that the summary i made of the mentioned episode is authentic. --181.73.105.54 (talk) 01:42, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The reason why I reverted your edit was because of the TV style guideline on plot summaries; more specifically that plot summaries for TV episodes in episode tables (like the ones in List of Harvey Girls Forever! episodes) shouldn't be more than 200 words long. You're free to expand on plot summaries as long as you meet that limit. wizzito | say hello! 14:28, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

deletion of the article about mireille redford saba[edit]

hello, good day your having? because I'm not, i have my finals this week and i had 2 hours of sleep last night, i don't know if you have a personal agenda or something against us, but i would like to discuss what you said in one of your points: "This course seeks to develop students’ intellectual viewpoints and a writing voice through writing Wikipedia articles about Arab and Lebanese authors who have little to no digital presence (neither in Arabic nor in English). In order to preserve this literary heritage, this class will work on producing Wikipedia articles about Arab and Lebanese literary figures who might otherwise become long forgotten since they are rarely taught in the Lebanese curriculum's literature courses."; personally, I think that forcing students to write articles on likely non-notable people isn't the best thing to do, but whatever. " you deleted my article on the week of my finals, me and my peers worked 2 months to create it so you, a tik tok fan, could come and say that one of the leading authors in my country is irrelevant because there not enough information online about her. My point is I don't think you're the best person to review my article, after seeing what domain you takle and please don't ever disrespect my professor who's a respectable Phd holder, nor her course, nor her student. please take this tip: don't tackle subjects you have no knowledge about plus I'm very tired and I'm sorry if my tone came off as angry Farid Chbeir (talk) 16:36, 6 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Farid Chbeir I'm not the one who nominated the article for deletion. Go to them if you have any problems. You could also go to Ian (Wiki Ed). Please avoid insulting others in your comments like you just did, that's considered a personal attack and is against Wikipedia rules. wizzito | say hello! 17:42, 6 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry if I insulted you in any way but what you wrote about our course is really demoralising and not called for. How is it even relevent as to how my article was structured, you can't judge a whole group of people just because one of their articles was written in a bad fashion. What i'm trying to say is if you could please delete this comment, my doctor and classmates shouldn't be punished for something i did wrong. Plus we chose this course with our free will, we could have chosen a traditional English class, but we opted for a more fun and interactive course. Farid Chbeir (talk) 19:05, 6 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • I wasn't even insulting your professor or course. Nobody is punishing you. And I can't delete the comment because the discussion is closed. wizzito | say hello! 22:50, 6 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ratchet Feminism[edit]

I would like to strongly request that the page NOT be redirected to womanism. Ratchet feminism has been written about by numerous Black feminist scholars. The topic was given to students to write about so that they could contribute to the conversation. I am the instructor, who is also a Black feminist scholar who has published on this topic. I know that the Wikipedia assignment this semester was a disaster. I have learned a lot about teaching this assignment. However, I personally assisted in making sure that many of the requested edits were made. For context, these are mostly Black female students in a Black women & pop culture class learning about the censure or erasure of certain Black women's voices.

To tie ratchet feminism to womanism is highly problematic since ratchet feminism is a critique of the respectability politics in Black feminism and womanism. I am requesting that you allow edits, or take it down completely until we can work on the draft. I have reached out to other scholars familiar with the idea of "ratchet feminism" via Twitter to help edit this page. I recognize this being my first time doing this assignment, there were numerous pages that needed to be deleted, and remain deleted. I apologize for that. To erase this topic, however, is a mistake and speaks to some of the issues the assignment was initially trying to address. Mkibona (talk) 13:15, 15 December 2021 (UTC) Mkibona[reply]

Mkibona - We weren't trying to erase the topic of ratchet feminism; it's just that you weren't discussing properly and going against consensus. It may be a notable topic, but you should probably create a draft, as by the advice on Talk:Ratchet Feminism wizzito | say hello! 21:48, 15 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
