June 2020[edit]

Information icon Hello, Wkctcjan2020. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. ElKevbo (talk) 21:18, 22 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have a connection to West Kentucky Community and Technical College? ElKevbo (talk) 15:42, 24 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not edit again until you have answer the question above. Wikipedia's policies forbid undisclosed paid editing and strongly discourage conflicts of interest. Additionally, edit warring - repeatedly reverting another editor's work or repeatedly inserting your own work above the objections of others without any discussion or collaboration - is not allowed. Finally, material added to articles should be accompanied by reliable sources especially when the material has been challenged by other editors. ElKevbo (talk) 03:43, 25 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I have a connect to West Kentucky Community and Technical College. I am the director of marketing for WKCTC. Wkctcjan2020 (talk) 11:29, 25 June 2020 (UTC)Janett Blythe (WKCTCjan2020)[reply]
Then you should not edit your employer's article. Instead, you should make requests and suggestions in the article's Talk page. And you must also read our paid editing policy and properly disclose your relationship with the college; please let me know if you need help doing that. ElKevbo (talk) 13:01, 25 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the information. I will try to submit changes as described. Wkctcjan2020 (talk) 20:53, 25 June 2020 (UTC) Janett Blythe (WKCTCjan2020)[reply]

ElKevbo - I was wanting to change incorrect information and add the correct logo on the page. The largest school in the KCTCS is not Bluegrass Community and Technical College, according to your own footnote. It is Jefferson Community and Technical College. Our logo also changed about three years ago. I'm not sure how to submit the new logo. We were also named one of the top ten community colleges in the nation by the Aspen Institute - for the fifth time. I was also hoping we might list some of our notable alumni and faculty. Just let me know if it's possible to add the alumni and make the changes I mentioned. Thank you, Janett Blythe Wkctcjan2020 (talk) 01:09, 30 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

To have information added to the article or edited, just post a polite request in the article's Talk page. Please be very specific about the changes you'd like and if provide sources that support the request. If someone doesn't respond within a few days - I doubt that many editors watch that particular article and its Talk page - feel free to drop a line here to ask for someone to help out.
To upload the image, you'll want to click on the "Upload file" link on the left side; it's in the middle of the list of links at the bottom of the "Contribute" section and just above the "Tools" section. Use the upload wizard and be sure to follow the directions for uploading a fair use image. Once the image has been uploaded, we can change the logo in the article to use the new image by changing the name of the logo in the current article to the name of the logo that you just uploaded; if you need help with that, please ask.
