I would like to see more about the history of the kissaten. I read an article recently that - if this is the same thing we're talking about here - might prove to be interesting (Cleansing the Nation: Urban Entertainments and Moral Reform in Interwar Japan by Elise K. Tipton). A focus on the past of the kissaten and the cultural association with it i.e. how does it differ from other tea houses/what makes it modern or non-traditional?
