Information icon

Hello Worldofentertainment. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Worldofentertainment. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Worldofentertainment|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. ... discospinster talk 19:05, 28 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi discospinster, sorry I'm still getting the hang of Wikipedia so you will have to excuse my typing. However, yes, you are right, I did get paid for the two articles Michele Northup and Chaz M Grooms so I'll declare it on my user page and also on the talk pages of these pages. I do have a question though, if you can answer though, there were some pages that I was not paid for, can I create such pages directly or do I have to declare paid editing or edit in drafts, those pages as well. Thank you.

If you are not paid for creating an article then you don't have to declare anything. ... discospinster talk 16:59, 31 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for advertising or self-promoting in violation of the conflict of interest and notability guidelines.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  MER-C 14:42, 30 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I take full responsibility for my actions.I'm not sure what covert advertising is, but I was paid for two articles namely Michele Northup and Chaz M Grooms. I was not aware it was against Wikipedia's guidelines. In one of the messages above to a user discospinster, I clearly mentioned that I was paid however I was unaware this goes against Wikipedia's rules. If I can get a chance to get ublocked, I'll resume operations and clearly mention it on my talk page. Also I did not edit any further and still haven't after receiving that message from discospinster Worldofentertainment (talk) 15:17, 30 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Procedural decline only. This unblock request has been open for more than two weeks but has not proven sufficient for any reviewing administrator to take action. You are welcome to request a new block review if you substantially reword your request. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that

  • the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
  • the block is no longer necessary because you
    1. understand what you have been blocked for,
    2. will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
    3. will make useful contributions instead.

Please read the guide to appealing blocks for more information. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 06:09, 31 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Hi - what do you plan to edit / contribute if unblocked? Also, can you clarify what you mean by "I'll resume operations"? Chetsford (talk) 20:56, 30 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I plan to edit/contribute random articles. I'll mention on the talk page and use the appropriate measures necessary for paid articles. By resuming operations, I simply meant continue writing on Wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Worldofentertainment (talkcontribs)
Can you give an example of a few articles you currently plan to contribute or edit? Can you describe the specific measures you'll take on articles for which you've been paid? Chetsford (talk) 04:39, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Well as an example, mostly pages related to actors, films and television shows like I did edits to Tanya Chisholm, Aja Naomi King. You can check the edit history in that case too, I was just adding missing information (I was not paid for it). For the paid articles currently, I do not plan to take any action however in the near future, I'll submit through AFC and mention on the talk page that I have been paid as well. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Worldofentertainment (talkcontribs)
An ability to sign Talk page posts is a basic demonstration of one's potential to productively edit WP. Therefore, I think I'm going to hold off on lifting the block until you've completed the WP:ADVENTURE and can demonstrate you can sign Talk page posts. Any other admin should feel free to accept or decline the unblock request in the interim. Chetsford (talk) 05:32, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sockpuppet investigation[edit]

An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Worldofentertainment, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.
