Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Writerupdate. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Draft:Bromyard Cricket Club, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Theroadislong (talk) 09:08, 12 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

indefinite storage of club details

[edit]

Re: Your draft Draft:Bromyard Cricket Club Wikipedia is not a web hosting service or permanent storage for your clubs details either submit the draft for review or stop editing. Theroadislong (talk) 21:32, 16 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Draft:Bromyard Cricket Club, a page which you created or substantially contributed to, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; you may participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Draft:Bromyard Cricket Club and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Draft:Bromyard Cricket Club during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. Theroadislong (talk) 21:47, 16 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This is a personal attack as I re added the edits. This is an uncompleted draft and it needs the time to be completed. Removing all of the edits does not help this process and therefore it is unwarranted. Writerupdate (talk) 21:59, 16 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon

Hello Writerupdate. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Writerupdate. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Writerupdate|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. 331dot (talk) 12:49, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Haha, I am not being paid to promote this cricket club! All done out of a love for club cricket and especially as this club has such a high representation of First Class cricketers as well as a a full International. Quite a feat making this club inherently notable in club cricket in their county of Herefordshire, but compete at the highest division of the Worcestershire County Cricket League. Puts the football and rugby club in Bromyard far behind it in terms
of divisional structure (Bromyard Football club has its over Wiki page). Writerupdate (talk) 13:50, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You don't have to be specifically paid to promote to be a paid editor- any paid relationship triggers the disclosure requirement. So, to be clear, you have no paid relationship with the club? What is your relationship? 331dot (talk) 14:29, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I can confirm I have no paid relationship in any way to this cricket club. I have no relationship to this club at all. Only an avid cricket supporter that heard about their players that they had at their club which was most unusual for a club within a small town which Bromyard appears to be. So I researched into them further and came up with this Wiki page. I have no links or anything to do with the club. Writerupdate (talk) 15:10, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It seems quite extraordinary that you would spend 18 months editing this draft exclusively and yet have no connection to the club. Theroadislong (talk) 15:53, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I don’t understand why you keep having to keep being so rude. I choose to update it and make it and you choose to rip it all up? Not sure who is extraordinary here. Writerupdate (talk) 17:17, 20 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
