Elite: Dangerous[edit]

Hello. I'm not seeing any "groups" editing the article - you can see the history for yourself at https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Elite:_Dangerous&action=history. It just looks like User:Splodger999 thinks it needs a separate section and User:HyperspaceCloud doesn't (I reverted one of Hyperspacecloud's edits to merge the section, but only because he or she had reverted a load of content in the process without explaining why). I don't think there's a serious conflict of interest here, it sounds like its' just one fan who loves the game and maybe inadvertently cheerleading it a bit too much, and one fan who is disappointed by the offline changes and wants to make sure that fellow players' disappointment isn't whitewashed away, and they're naturally butting heads a little.

If one or two editors are being particularly obstructive they can have sanctions raised against them; if somebody reverts an article more than three times in a day then they'll probably become blocked from editing, and a slower but disruptive revert pattern could also result in a block.

There's been some discussion at Talk:Elite: Dangerous about whether the offline play needs its own section. I've just gone and restructured the talk page to make that clearer - feel free to add your thoughts at Talk:Elite: Dangerous#Controversy section, which doesn't currently have any compelling arguments for or against. --McGeddon (talk) 19:28, 20 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for that. I'll have a look. Matthew at WTF4Photography (talk) 19:28, 20 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
