Game review from E51

Hello X201, I was wondering if you could somehow provide me with access to the review of Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee from Edge magazine issue 51. If it helps, it was scored 8/10. I ask because the Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee article requires some quotes from respectable magazines such as Edge before having a chance of becoming a FA. Sega CD issue

In response to your comment [1], my understanding of naming conventions is that it would be named Sega Mega CD if it was moved – not just Mega CD. I asked awhile back on the CVG project talk page and the answers were that Sega marketed its product with the brand name in it, and is thus named that way. Likewise, it's marketed solely as Snickers; Mars doesn't put its brand name behind it. Going off of that, we would name the Willy Wonka products with Willy Wonka in it because that's how it was marketed. Hbdragon88 04:15, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

If it was marketed as that, then that's what it should be.

I wish Wikipedia had a policy for product names as regards what the entry should be called, the name a product was given in the place it was created should take precident ie. Biohazard should be the article and Resident Evil should be the redirect, just like Snickers is the article and Marathon is on the disambiguation page (ditto Starburst/Opal Fruits) - X201 09:19, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

But for those examples, it was released internationally as Resident Evil, and would be the more common, familiar name. According to those respective articles, it appears that the Mars company itself changed those names to Snickers and Starburst as their plan to standandarize its global brand names. So, while they were known by their former names before, they're known now by just one name.

I agree that there seems to be a lot of inconsistency, decided seemingly; for instance, Orange (colour) (while all other colors are the US spelling) and gasoline (the US name for the substance) have been contentious naming wars. Hbdragon88 18:35, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

Well, another poll has taken place over the Sega Mega Drive issue, and it appears that the Genesis side has lost...oh well. This will probably set the precedent to move [[Sega CD[[ to Sega Mega-CD Hbdragon88 07:35, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

Yes, I am a real person; I've been told to use a bot account for typo fixing because of the speed and smallness of the edits.

If there is a difference in UK/US spelling, I was unaware of it (I use "descendant" myself, though I am from the UK). I was misled when I originally checked this; Google corrects "descendent" to "descendant" and returns far more results for the latter, Wiktionary doesn't list "descendent" at all and neither do either of the dictionaries I originally looked at. Yet another source insists one version is for something that is descending and the other is the opposite of "ancestor".

In this case, the rest of the article seems to be US English (e.g. "rumors" in the third paragraph of the Storyline section, "humor" in the Gameplay section), so my change was correct. However, I've looked at additional sources and found some dictionaries list "descendent" as an alternative, so I won't correct it in future. Edge again

Hey, I was wondering if you could help me out again. Does any of the old Edge magazines have anything on Star Fox 2, like storyline, gameplay, etc? It would probably be around the 1994-1995 issues. I can't remember any mention of it in the magazines I've archived so far. I think the best chance of finding any info about it will come from an article like the Developement Hell one in issue 120, that covered at lot of games, I don't know if they did a Cancelled Games article but I 'll keep my eyes open for any info. - X201 21:59, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

Well, it says at the magazine page that you have the full set of issues, correct? Anyway, if you can't find anything its no big deal. Hi, you were right, it was rubbish - the both subjects have to do nothing with each other. I have looked at their descent up to the 18th century and have not found that they are related (if they are related anyway, their common ancestor must have lived at least 300 years ago). So far as I can tell he descends in the male line from Hon. Albert Joseph Stourton (b 1835) younger son of the 19th Baron Stourton. But confirming this another source gives a slightly different relationship I will look further. Alci12 16:09, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
