Henry Schade[edit]

Hi, thanks for the kind words! I have no personal connection with Schade - it's been a while, but I think I probably got started from the DANFS reference to USS Rabaul (CVE-121) being christened by Alice Schade, and assembled the bits from poking around online. You can tell it dates from my early WP days, I don't actually cite any of the sources! I know one of them was the Gibbs Medal bio. In any case, feel free to augment the article with any cite-able material - is your book published? It would be an ideal reference. Stan 14:48, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest you mete out your grave warnings in equal measure. This is a direct result of unsolicited email harrassment perpetrated by your own TomTheHand. By condemning me you condone your Wiki Administrators attacking users in private using email so as to avoid the embarrassment of revealing their own childish behavior in a public forum. As for me, I had the character to stand up, and do so in public, and defend myself from his attacks. If you have been harrassed in Wikipedia email-link emails you can bring it to the attention of any administrator, including me, or a member of the Arbitration Committee.
We cannot warn or act based on claims of email harrassment; someone would need to see the emails in question. Please don't post them to WP publically, that's considered a privacy violation of the sender's privacy, but you can forward them for review.
We can and must act based on what you do here in public. Even if you were being harrassed in email, what you did on-wiki violates our policies. You are not allowed to violate our policies if someone attacks you outside Wikipedia. Two wrongs are not right, and if you commit the second wrong where we see it, in violation of Wikipedia policies, then you will be prevented from further on-wiki abuse.
If you want to forward evidence of email harrassment I'll review it impartially. I don't have any prior working relationship with Tom that I can recall, so there's no conflict of interest there. I will indeed see how much of, if not all, the emails are still on my mail client. Itr is a bit ironic you claim to have had no previous contact with Tom yet it is you he must have run to resulting in your warning. He posted to the Wikipedia Administrators' Noticeboard for Incidents asking for impartial admin review.
I am notionally a WP:SHIPS participant (my undergrad degree was in Naval Architecture, though I shifted career paths into IT and Aerospace Engineering). But I'm not really active there (can't recall the last thing I did other than helping start the Mideaval Cannons ship armaments article, and active work a year ago on Metacentric height and Double hull and Strength of ships. Yes, it did. And it's not defunct, they just rolled it into the ME program... the professors are at least partly still there (and my undergrad advisor, Prof Webster, got promoted upstairs as Vice Provost of Academic Planning until he retired in 2003). Prof. Alaa Mansour is still bending structures up, Prof. Yeung is still there, etc. Prof Paulling retired, but he's still doing some stuff with the national academy, I hear. Prof Wehausen passed away a couple of years ago, but I didn't know him very well, he had retired to Emeritus a few years before I got there. Georgewilliamherbert 02:13, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It wasn't disbanded, it was merged into a specialty in the Mechanical Engineering department. There were a total of 20 undergrads and about 12-14 grad students the years I was there, so "small" is definitely accurate. Good prof to student ratio, though, we had Webster, Paulling, Yeung, Mansour...
