Tips
  • Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
  • It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
  • If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
  • Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
  • When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
  • If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
  • Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.

Happy editing! Cheers, Fettlemap (talk) 16:39, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Question...

[edit]

Are you an employee of the company or are they your client? Not important as you have declared your paid status but just curious. Also, you do need to hit that Resubmit button for it to be considered. If the draft is accepted you or anyone affiliated with company should not edit it directly but rather make WP:edit requests (there is a handy WP:Edit Request wizard). S0091 (talk) 18:53, 28 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@S0091Springbar is a client. And, yes, resubmitting would be good! Thanks for the insight! Xlea Nollmav (talk) 18:55, 28 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

At several Wikipedia pages you have recently added links to Springbar. This not the only brand of spring-loaded tent, so singling out this particular brand is effectively advertising. Since you have noted that you have a conflict of interest in this area, I would suggest that you refrain from adding such links directly. If you think that such a link should be in a tent-related article, please put a request to add that link on the talk page of the article, and then let someone without a conflict of interest consider the addition. @Murray Langton thank you for the feedback! I wasn't sure how to go about dealing with the "orphan" link issue. Clearly that is not the way, so thanks again. Should I go in and remove the links I added? Xlea Nollmav (talk) 13:23, 8 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If you look, you will see that I have already removed three such links. Murray Langton (talk) 15:59, 8 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Appreciate it, @Murray Langton! Xlea Nollmav (talk) 17:05, 8 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I am not sure how to advise you re 'orphan' links. In my opinion, the Springbar article itself is rather close to being an advertisement. One possibility is to search for references to such tents which are independent of the company (i.e. no press releases) and see how such references can be incorporated in the article or related articles. Another possibility is to consider whether you can add links to Springbar in the 'See also' section of some tent or camping articles, or preferably suggest the addition of such links on a related talk page. Your basic problem is that Wikipedia discourages advertising, which is what you are being paid to do, so you need to be cautious. Murray Langton (talk) 04:56, 9 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Murray Langton Thank you for your insight. I will look into all of that. How big of a deal is the orphan link thing — or is it? Xlea Nollmav (talk) 21:08, 10 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
'orphan link' means that no other Wikipedia pages link to this one, which in turn means that very few readers will ever find the page, which rather defeats the purpose of having the page in the first place! Murray Langton (talk) 05:29, 11 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
