License tagging for Image:Sacred Light.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Sacred Light.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 04:11, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

Response to email[edit]

Hello. I got your email, but I'm responding here as I said.

The above message was left by a bot, and the trouble you're having is that it seems to have put the .jpg extension in lowercase, whereas the image you uploaded has it in uppercase: Image:Sacred Light.JPG. File names are case-sensitive on Wikipedia, so whether a letter is in uppercase or lowercase is important. If you click on the link I gave you here, you should get to it without any trouble.

It seems to me the bot made a mistake here, as you clearly indicated that you took the image yourself. Whatever programming it uses to try to detect source information is fairly primitive. If you use the {{ImageSummary}} or {{CommonsImageSummary}} template to describe the image, which provides a table setting out all its information clearly, you shouldn't have this problem again.

As far as uploading to the Commons -- it's separate project from Wikipedia proper; a free media repository. There are instructions for transferring images to it here: Wikipedia:Moving images to the Commons. The advantage of the Commons is that any Wiki project can directly link to images there as if they were located on the individual Wikis. Also, since its very purpose is to be a media repository, there aren't any issues about orphaned images.

As far as your other problem goes, ShadowHalo was mistaken. Obviously, you can't put {{db-author}} on a previous version of an uploaded image! What you need to do is to go to the administrator's notice board and post a note there explaining the problem. With any luck, an admin will notice it before long and help you out. (I'm afraid I complicated matters with a sleepy click in the wrong place, so now there are two version that need to be deleted. I accidentally clicked on "rev" instead of "del". I didn't think I'd be able to do it either, but there's a link on the page you end up on that I wanted.) It will help out a lot if you provide a link to the image. Use the normal Wikipedia link syntax, but put a colon in front of the file name. This makes a link instead of inserting the image into the page. Type this: [[:Image:Barbaro2006.jpg]] to make a link that looks like this: Image:Barbaro2006.jpg. TCC (talk) (contribs) 09:38, 20 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image deletion request[edit]

Hi Yahuzs. I took a look through your image uploads and everything seems to be ok. I guess Csernica helped you resolve it. I also deleted the older version of Barbaro as you requested. For future reference, you can see your image uploads by click on "User contributions" in the toolbox to the left (you must be on your user page or talk page). From there, click on "logs" next to your username. Let me know if I can be of further assistance. --PS2pcGAMER (talk) 19:29, 20 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notification of automated file description generation[edit]

Your upload of File:Barbaro2006.jpg or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. In order to help make better use of the media, an attempt has been made by an automated process to identify and add certain information to the media's description page.

This notification is placed on your talk page because a bot has identified you either as the uploader of the file, or as a contributor to its metadata. It would be appreciated if you could carefully review the information the bot added. To opt out of these notifications, please follow the instructions here. Thanks!
