Especially due to the featured topic drive, there have been many new featured lists promoted concerning NHL awards. Here's the full list of all the 13 FL's promoted since the last newsletter.[1][2]

  1. ^ The last one, List of Calgary Flames players, is the only one not associated with the featured topic drive.
  2. ^ At the time of publishing, there were 5 lists at WP:FLC and 2 lists in the "Holding cell", as there's been an accepted guideline to not put more that 5 trophy lists at the same time to, "compensate for the sanity of the reviewers".

Featured Topic Drive

Started by User:Scorpion0422, the aim of this drive is to make NHL awards a featured topic. A featured topic is basically a set of very high quality articles (good articles and featured articles/lists). In this case, the topic is NHL awards. Many users have helped, including Scorpion0422, Resolute, Serte, Hasek is the best, Maxim, Croat Canuck, Spike Wilbury, FutureNJGov, and T Rex/Dinosaur puppy. The progress has been very good; there are 12 featured lists promoted, and 2 good articles:

Edits to Carl Lewis and Ben Johnson Pages[edit]

Your source does not corroborate your text. You've added "tarnished by allegations of steroid use", which is incorrect, as your source says Lewis 'tested positive for banned stimulants'. Firstly, stimulants (small amounts of banned stimulants found in cold medications - as what Lewis had tested positive for) are certainly not steroids, and secondly nowhere does the article make any claims about Lewis' reputation being tarnished (which appears to be your own conclusion drawn after reading this article). As per Wikipedia's policy on biographies of living persons (WP:BLP) unsourced or poorly sourced contentious material — whether negative, positive, or just questionable — about living persons should be removed immediately and without discussion from Wikipedia articles. Additionally, your entry does not display the entire story, as you conveniently left out the fact that the USOC investigation at the time concluded the level of banned stimulants found in Lewis' system - mostly ephedrine -was not significant enough to be performance-enhancing.[1]. Your insistance of disrupting Wikipedia to continually re-insert this non-neutral point of view is considered vandalism. --Yankees76 22:59, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Deadlift and bench press[edit]

Hi Yankee, you know a lot about weightlifting. I have a question: say a person can bench some 200 kg, does it automatically mean they can dealift 280 - 300 kg, and vice versa? And Which one is more useful for improving functional strength, deadlift or bench? Not it does not automatically mean it - but that doesn't mean it's not possible. Because the deadlift is a full-body exercise, you need to have a strong posterior chain, and a strong grip (if you don't use straps) to be a heavy deadlifter (500 - 600 lbs or more). The bench press trains neither of these, so unless someone trains for both exercises (like a powerlifter) they're not going to be able to hoist big weights in both. Without a doubt the deadlift is the better exercise for improving functional strength. --Yankees76 (talk) 16:23, 10 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Might I ask you to take a look at the new discussion going on at Franz Josef Strauß? Yes, it is an ancient topic (the use of ß on en-wiki), but this is one of the most prominent articles in which this issue is of significance. I've looked at it and agree that it should read Strauss (I'm convinced that 9 out of 10 people for whom English is a first language or only language would read that as Straub), however I'm staying out of this debate until a discussion on creating an official Wikipedia policy on adding non-English characters is initiated. I'm not sure that 679ß09tfgbfn is a sock of Bergz. I suspect 679ß09tfgbfn is originating from Germany, as most of the recent IPs trying to add those links are German. Possibly, but they could also all be members of the forum at [2], where Burgz is a frequent user. Also note that 679ß09tfgbfn has edited exclusively the same pages ("i wrote those articles for the most part[3]") that one of Burgz most recent socks has admitted to editing/watching [4].
