A tag has been placed on Helping Brainz, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. SPA /COI[edit]

Hi Yedhukrishnamenon all your edits to date have been about Helping Brainz and you seem to be connected with the organization - the article you created says "we" do things. This makes your account what we call a "single purpose account" (please see WP:SPA) and very likely that you have a conflict of interest, as we define that in Wikipedia. I'm provide you with our COI and will have some questions for you below...

Information icon Hello, Yedhukrishnamenon. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies. Note that Wikipedia's terms of use require disclosure of your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you.

Question[edit]

Wikipedia is a scholarly project, and like all scholarly endeavors, disclosure of conflict of interest is essential for ensuring the integrity of Wikipedia and retaining the public's trust in it. And per the Terms of Use, if editing Wikipedia is part of your job somehow, you must disclose that.

Would you please let me know if you have any relationship with Helping Brainz? I'm not asking you to reveal any personal information - just to disclose your relationship. You can reply here. thanks. Jytdog (talk) 15:22, 27 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, i saw your edit here. The use of "we" is not what makes your account a SPA... you have not read WP:SPA nor WP:COI.. but that is OK. The key thing is please disclose here, your relationship with the organization. Please do reply. (it is not a terrible thing to have a COI, it just means that we need to work with you to manage it - disclosing it, is the first step) Thanks! Jytdog (talk) 15:44, 27 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

--Yedhukrishna Menon 15:55, 27 April 2015 (UTC) Thanks for the information. My name is Yedhukrishna Menon from Delhi, India and I founded 'Helping Brainz' in August 2012. We are weekend social workers, who devote their weekends for community service, thus a lead a team of 450+ individuals from 7 different countries. I personally take care of Websites and Social Media engines. Just to spread the word of self-less service to the humanity I thought of creating a Wikipedia page for Helping Brainz. This is the relationship between Helping Brainz and Yedhukrishna Menon and the motive behind. However, I am not here for any sort of publicity. :)

I even don't know how many magazines published about Helping Brainz, since we never kept a track on that, however when I was supposed to create a Wikipedia page I just googled and found some of the links, which I embedded in the Wikipedia Page--Yedhukrishna Menon 15:55, 27 April 2015 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for replying, and for dislcosing your COI. Disclosure is the first step. The way that COI is managed on Wikipedia, is that instead of directly editing articles as you have done, you need to limit yourself to making "edit requests" on the article Talk page. Other editors can then review those suggestions and make sure they are OK, before the suggestion is added to the article. That way, the community ensures that articles are really neutral. I hope that makes sense. (it is all described in WP:COI in greater detail)
I have added headers to the Talk page, and you will see there, at the bottom of the yellow/brown box, a section with a big exclamation point, that says "Individuals acting on behalf of this person or organization are strongly advised not to edit the article. Click here to request corrections or suggest content, or contact us if the issue is urgent." If you click where it says "click here", the wikipedia software will set up a section where you can write your edit request. Please use that going forward, OK? --Yedhukrishna Menon 16:14, 27 April 2015 (UTC) Sorry I didn't understand the last paragraph--Yedhukrishna Menon 16:15, 27 April 2015 (UTC)

i mentioned the article's Talk page. every article (like Helping Brainz has an associated Talk page Talk:Helping Brainz. I added "headers" to the Talk page of Helping Brainz - they are the yellow/brown box that is now at the top of the Helping Brainz talk page. Do you see the big box there, and the section at the bottom of it with the big exclamation point? Thanks. Jytdog (talk) 16:21, 27 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

--Yedhukrishna Menon 16:40, 27 April 2015 (UTC)Yes I found it, thanks for the same. Hope you can help me in another topic. There were many links which you broken, I have corrected them all. All so called advertising comments have been removed. Even though I have the comments on the page header - can you help me in anyway ? --Yedhukrishna Menon 16:40, 27 April 2015 (UTC)

I'll have a look. i noticed that Joseph is working with you. he is good and if you ask him kindly i am sure he would help too. Jytdog (talk) 17:13, 27 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

--Yedhukrishna Menon 17:26, 27 April 2015 (UTC) Thanks. I will work with him :)

@Jytdog: Is there a tool on Wikipedia for finding more sources? Because I know Google is really bad for finding Indian sources. Joseph2302 (talk) 18:04, 27 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

nope i know of no special magic there. Jytdog (talk) 18:18, 27 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Joseph2302: By Source you meant ? If I can help you anyway ?--Yedhukrishna Menon 18:21, 27 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yedhukrishna Menon, do you know of any more sources of information about your organisation? Because more is better, and I cannot find any more. Joseph2302 (talk) 18:25, 27 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Joseph2302: Will social media links work ?--Yedhukrishna Menon 18:33, 27 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Joseph2302: Will the links of the websites which also hosts Helping Brainz's event work ? Event1 Event2 Event3 Event4 Event5

I'm done helping, I try to help you, and you just deleted my edits. I wrote what the sources actually said, not what you want it to say. This article is a mess, and the person making the best contributions is having their work undone by a conflict of interest user who probably shouldn't even be editing the article. Joseph2302 (talk) 20:59, 27 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Joseph2302: : Thanks for helping me out. I know I am new to Wikipedia so making mistakes however learning through it as well. What you mentioned in the edited portion was different from what I actually did, so people who read that actually started pinging me, that's why I tried created the reference list once again and I have done actually what you have done. You may check it once. And again if you want my wikipedia page to be deleted, it's all your decision my owner  :), thanks a ton for you help. --Yedhukrishna Menon 21:05, 27 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Also to add on : as mentioned by @Joseph2302: he helped me editing the same however, for instance what he cited in the page is "Delhi University conducted "Udaan", and which is wrong, so re-entered the information as "Helping Brainz in association with AIESEC in Delhi University conducted "Udaan", and because of which he mentioned that the 'COI' user deleted the information entered by the administrator.

Please do not edit this user's talk page again, as they have indicated that they want you to stop doing so. Failure to follow this request can lead to your account being blocked for disruptive editing. Any further discussions about the suitability of your article should be done at the Articles for Deletion entry, not on the nominator's talk page or anywhere else. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 21:41, 27 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I have already pen-down the editing of my page.--Yedhukrishna Menon 21:53, 27 April 2015 (UTC)
