Both of them are well-established authors in their fields and sold more than a million books individually, so they are notable, according to the norms of Wikipedia. btw, I am under some time constraints and cannot research right now to improve James A. Main trouble at the moment is around the MUSU and McVeigh articles with DarrenRay, 2006BC and AChan ganging up to push POV through the articles. "Vanity":Beck may not be Balzac, who you'll remember owned his own printing press, but his readers seem to endorse if their comments at various on-line booksellers are to be believed. American Library Association interview appears to me more impartial source than much consumer media publicity generated by commercial interest groups. National Union of Journalists' award supports credentials for a book with journalist protagonists. Re: editor with it's "Different" with it's implied question mark comment. Check Gerald Bull entry and then see if his science has been developed much since his death or taken up in fiction. As for the editor's comment "Malundi also keeps removing tags requesting cleanup", sorry, but that was only once, and only after I supplied the request for a citation. By all means clean up, but let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater. Please have another look and see if the evidence suggests support for nomination. Malundi 8 March 2006

• OK, I've had a look around. It isn't a hoax. It just looked rather dubious and messy, but a google search shows he is real. Aussie Rules outside Australia

Regarding merging aussie rules clubs into their component leagues pages: well, it's up to you guys. If you want, someone can make the rule one page per country covering domestic history and one for the national team (if it exists).

Hi Blnguyen, thanks for your vote to keep this article and your kind words – and as you said correctly, Bhai Makhan Shah is an important person in Sikh history. That is why I think that the initial reaction by the "moderators" was wrong – A little more consideration need to given to the value of the article rather than the contents, which can be easily amended. It is as if we asked for article on PM Tony Blair to be deleted because you do not agree with the style of the contents. To me that does not make any sense. The correct route would be to ask for a 'cleanup' of the article and not to delete it.

• I have no idea of who these various people who voted and left comments are. I have only judged them by what they have said in reaction to things that I have posted on the site. You may be totally right about them. But my judgement is based entirely on this one incident which, in my opinion was initially tackled incorrectly.

I also totally accept what you say about the workload and everyone's daily commitment to people and things that we love – You are completely right about that. Also the fact that you get huge amounts of total rubbish – As an administrator on Sikhiwiki we too face a tiny bit of that. I sympathise with you guys because the volume sound out-of-this-world. I write to thank and commend you for your thoughtful response to the Shah AfD and for your appropriate suggestions to the article's creator on his talk page, which suggestions I have echoed there. I thought I ought to leave a message here lest my comments on the AfD page should prove insufficient to establish that never was my nomination driven by religious or personal animus; I think you will well understand the reasons for which I nominated the article for deletion (and for which sundry other posters ostensibly thought the article to merit deletion), as well as the reasons for which I readily recognize that tagging the article for sourcing, Wikifying, and cleanup might be better. In any case, these sorts of discussions are what AfD is for, I think; just yesterday, I wrote to defend an AfD on which I had voted keep against a suggestion that the nomination was vandalism per se, and I think my words may now apply to me as well. It's just that I've stuck a whole pile of council and LGA templates all over all of the WP:MELB suburbs because they were missing (in line with Adelaide and Sydney). Thanks for the offer! With my recent edits focusing more on the project namespace, I now feel confident in taking up the responsibility. I am slightly against self-nomming however, which was why I didn't do it myself. Unless you know at least one other person has belief in you, then you shouldn't try it I reckon.

Your statement that this film is a vanity is nonsense. The film was released in 1995, and is presently undergoing restoration, as the entry originally stated, before you voted its deletion.

Welcome, YellowMonkey/Archive2, to Esperanza, the Wikipedia member association! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.

Now that you are a member you should read the guide to what to do now or you may be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is the StressUnit, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. We will send you newsletters to keep you up to date. Also, we have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.

In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Possibles.

I encourage you to take an active voice in the running of Esperanza. We have a small government system, headed by our Administrator general, Celestianpower, and guided by the Advisory Committee comprised of KnowledgeOfSelf, JoanneB, FireFox and Titoxd. The next set of elections will be in April, and I would be glad to see you vote, or even consider running for a position.

I agree

He seems intent upon making controversial statements & then pulling ot long drawn arguments about those edits, arguing on techncalities. NPOV isnt just a set of hard rules, but a more subtle nuance. And due to this we are spending more time arguing than contributing. Something definitely needs to be done. What do you suggest?

Sorry. My apologies for the Second Innings. That was a mistake. I have removed that. I did not realise the wrong filter used for the second innings till it was pointed out.

And I honestly do not understand one thing. can some one explain this to me. When sachin's failures are quoted from Wisden, that stays for a long time without any one editing that. When the fact Sachin scored 1 run is quoted, it also stays. But when the fact Sachin was the top scorer is stated, that becomes a controversy. Well spotted. My intent with the name change was to disassociate my editing with my name, after noting that one persistant vandal (PinkTulips, also known as Amorrow, and a variety of IPs) was collecting personal details about editors he disliked on his website. Although I have not been targeted by PinkTulips, I figured it was preferable to make it a bit harder to track me down for like-minded people. I do watch my talkpage, so I can get messages there. A smarter thing to do, I suspect, would have simply registered under a different name. --TeaDrinker 06:23, 23 March 2006 (UTC)

The bio I was thinking of was on Mindspillage, at the bottom of the page [1], who originally blocked him. It is not particularly for this site that I was worried; it just alerted me to the potential problem. An ordinary vandal could find me on google quite easily (knowing my name).

Morrow was blocked, as near as I can tell, with no arbcom ruling (which is not what my initial impression was, if you have read the discussion at User_talk:Hansnesse). There was a discussion on admin noticeboard. [2]

Re: Leaving Esperanza

Hi Blnguyen. My reasons for leaving Esperanza are more to do with a changed perspective than any specific incidence, although I won't hesitate in saying that some participants are less than perfect. I suppose my change in thinking followed the userbox happenings when I re-evaluated what I wanted Wikipedia to be, and how that was best achieved. Though I think some mechanisms of Esperanza are worthwhile (the Stress Watch in particular), it hasn't followed the project overall hasn't followed the path I thought it would when I joined. I'm still part of the Kindness Campaign, but not in any active capacity. In fact, I've updated my userpage to state what my main activities are on Wikipedia at the time being. Reach out Reach out is a program aimed at allowing users to bring issues that they have had in Wikipedia to a listening, sympathetic and caring audience: "No one can know how we feel if we do not say. We cannot expect to get understanding if we do not ask for it. No one will dispute that sometimes life's issues are too much for one person. It is fair to say that sometimes Wikipedia's problems fall under the same heading. This is a place where you can bring the bruises that can sometimes be got on this project for attention." Stress Alerts The Stress alerts program aims at identifying users who are stressed, alerting the community of thier stress and works in tandem with the Stressbusters at trying to identify causes of stress and eliminating them. Note from the editor Welcome to this new format of the Esperanza Newsletter, which came about during the last Advisory Council meeting - we hope you like it! The major changes are that each month, right after the Council meeting, this will be sent out and will include two featured programs and a sum up of the meeting. The last AC meeting (full log) Future meetings are to be held monthly, not fortnightly as before. Bans and Access level changes (apart from autovoice) in the IRC channel are to be reported at the new log. In the IRC channel, there is going to be only one bot at a time. The charter requires members to have 150 edits and 2 weeks editing. Why this is the case will be clarified. A new Code of Conduct will be drafted by JoanneB and proposed to the Esperanza community. The NPA reform idea is to be dropped officially. Charter ammendments are to be discussed in future, not voted on. The Advisory Council is not going to be proposed to be expanded by the Advisory Council themselves, if others want to propose it, they will listen. Signed...
