Thanks for such a thorough PR of Thomas S. Monson. I will make efforts to incorporate your suggestions!

You are very much welcome. I tried to be as thorough as possible, but I'm rather new to this peer review thing (that was my first one!), so I'm glad you appreciated it. Hopefully you can get it up to FA sometime soon! - Yohhans (talk) 01:28, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bill Lange[edit]

I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to PR my re-write and expanded article on Bill Lange. Your many suggestions were extremely helpful, and I used almost all of them. Now the article looks much better than it did. I will now send it up through the GA review process and I am sure I will be tasked with some more changes, as always. Thanks again, and maybe you will PR something else of mine one these days.Neonblak (talk) 20:13, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm glad I could help. I'm also glad that you thought my review was decent. Good luck with the GAN! I hope it goes through. - Yohhans (talk) 21:06, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This image has been deleted. Please note item 1 of the non-free content criteria, which requires that non-free content be non-replaceable. This image would be replaceable by a free photograph that anyone could take at next year's event. Stifle (talk) 14:25, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Images on USAD[edit]

I'm currently preforming the GA review of USAD and there were a few problems with the images. I double checked on the wikimedia commons copyright questions page and discovered Image:Usadlogo.png did not qualify under {{PD-textlogo}}. I have thus nominated this for deletion on commons and uploaded it to wikipedia and provided a fair use rationale here, which is does qualify for. At the same time I was also informed that Image:Nebraska USAD Gold medal.jpg was a derivative work. Though you a free to release the image into the public domain it still needs a fair use rationale. Thus the image at commons has been nominated for deletion and the one on wikipedia has had additional licensing information provided. Part of the GA reviewrs job is to fix problems preventing the promotion of the article to GA, but I thought I would in this case explain to you why I have done this as it will take several days for me to complete the review of the whole article. Million_Moments (talk) 08:07, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not an expert on this area of copyright law unfortunatly, but I thought the logo looked like it had a definate design so asked here (section title:Image:Usadlogo.png). There are an awful lot of discussions on that page concerning what qualifies under {{pd-textlogo}} and what doesn't but two experienced users, one an admin, told me it didn't qualify. As for the medal, please see the commons page for more information. Basically the entire design of the medal, from it's shape and colour to the logo, are subject to copyright. I hope that helps, I hope to get some more work done on reviewing the article today. Million_Moments (talk) 07:07, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
On a further note, I have nominated Alli Blonski for deletion (discussion here). However I can see from your edit summaries you appear to suspect the article does not meet notability standards. Still, thought I'd let you know as well as the articles creator. Million_Moments (talk) 20:17, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
USAD has been placed on hold, please see the articles talk page for more information. Million_Moments (talk) 14:38, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry but I have to go to a meeting at Oxford University for a day or two but I will write a full review and pass the article when I get back! I apologise again for the delay. Million_Moments (talk) 20:52, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Apc on letterman.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Apc on letterman.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:42, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

To be honest, I wouldn't know where to begin. I have no idea what is needed to make an insterstate article "comprehensive". I can check for readability and grammar (semi-proficiently), but beyond that, I'm not sure I would be of much assistance. - Yohhans talk 17:41, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Fiddle and the Drum[edit]

A tag has been placed on Fiddle and the Drum requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Bongomatic (talk) 11:31, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I "restarted" the nomination and put it back at the top of the list rather than archiving, which is was I would usually do. After discussing with the other FLC director, we did this because while there wasn't yet any consensus to promote, there were positive comments. Regards, Matthewedwards (talk contribs  email) 16:53, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for restarting it. Hopefully it gets real votes this time instead of just comments. - Yohhans talk 01:57, 22 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps the article might get a higher degree of nomination consensus if it first underwent peer review. Peer review is not necessary, but it hashes out most of the general concerns (and some of the specific ones) that the FA and FL people might have. Reviewers might then see an article that needs votes rather than editing. -- CB (ö) 19:21, 22 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for Image:A Perfect Circle.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:A Perfect Circle.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. JD554 (talk) 11:01, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Apc.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Apc.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 05:39, 2 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I went through and tried to dig up a bunch of information. I have access to the Demidec material since the 2004-2005, so I can use that as citations for those years. I'm going through and adding that information right now. Do you have any advice for the rest of the years before we mainspace? Speaking of which, when should we mainspace that page? I'm pretty sure DYK is a possibility already. NuclearWarfare (Talk) 20:46, 2 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I would try and stay away from DemiDec material as much as possible. I don't know that the reviewers at FAC will accept it as scholarly and unbiased. Ealdgyth will almost certainly flag it in her source check. For 2002-03, 2003-04, 2004-05, and 2005-06 I can get all the topics for those. Also, sources for this kind of thing can be found through archive.org. Just look at previous versions of the USAD website. You can get reliable information back to ~1997. As far as DYK, yeah, that is a given I think. My aim was to bring this to FL, the USAD article to FA, and then create a featured topic (list of USAD champions is already a FL). Unfortunately, all the work burned me out... I got 1/3 of the way there though! - Yohhans talk 05:34, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'll give Ealdgyth a ping right now then, and see what she thinks about using the resource guides and demidec guides. NuclearWarfare (Talk) 05:38, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

'Update - So I was doing a lot more research for the main article, and I don't think it is actually possible to go into as much depth as we need to pass FLC; the sources required for before 2005 simply do not exist. NuclearWarfare (Talk) 23:44, 7 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

United States Academic Decathlon is in pretty good shape though; I just need to do a bit more work on it. Can I have your permission to go ahead with FAC when I think it is ready and after PR? (FAC guidelines say it is best to ask the original main author, I believe). NuclearWarfare (Talk) 23:44, 7 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Just a courtesy note to let you know that while I feel that this article is most definitely unfinished, we need it for the FAC, so I have moved it to mainspace. NuclearWarfare (Talk) 00:21, 10 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:Dr. Robert Peterson.jpg[edit]

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Dr. Robert Peterson.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NuclearWarfare (Talk) 19:39, 11 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Reviewer granted[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. The Rambling Man (talk) 17:52, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
