Brain ischemia
Hey, I saw that you had visited my article and I was hoping you wouldn't mind answering a question. I had brain ischemia peer reviewed the other day and the person who did it commented on my sources, about how certain paragraphs could have a source at the end of every sentence but is that really necessary to do if they are all from the same source? From my understanding, if all your information came from one source, you put the source at the end. ? Thanks!

Hmmm. I'm not positive on this, but I don't think you have to cite a source at the end of every sentence, just for every paragraph. I am wondering though, what information comes from the Chang and Ramirez citations. I think they should be linked within the article? Did this help at all? --Yohmom (talk) 23:53, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
I'm being a TPW on Yohmom's page and jumping in here for a second. Basically, if the entire paragraph comes from the same source, it is usually OK to just put the footnote at the end, but sometimes, if people really find a particular fact to be quite odd, putting in a footnote midway through at the trouble spot, even though duplicative (and annoying) won't hurt anything. If the paragraph has multiple sources, then yeah, footnote things to their source wherever they occur. You don't have to mechanically put a footnote at the end of every sentence, but after each group of facts attributable to the source, be it every sentence, two sentences, three sentences, or paragraph. By the way, User:Ealdgyth is the goddess of footnoting questions, and if she's busy, ask Dana boomer. They both are on top of the issue. Montanabw(talk) 06:29, 2 March 2009 (UTC)

That's what I thought because it seems to be a little repetitive to put the same source at the end of every sentence, but I don't think the user who peer reviewed my article realized that I put the source at the end. I guess I should just let them know and ask them their opinion also. Yeah, I am not sure what came from the Chang and Ramirez citations either, I think they may just be links to other information, they were there when I began editing. ?

Hmm. Is this the same image you were talking about on FoodPuma's talk? I uploaded my images through WikiCommons. As long as the image isn't under full copyright and is licensed appropriately, it should be pretty easy to just fill in information in the template. --Yohmom (talk) 16:50, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

I'm not entirely sure if it would be a "Government Source" because of the Army thing, or if you would need to get permission from the author (Moser). I would try to shoot him a permission email, just in case. If you do some digging, I'm sure that you could find his contact information and then ask for him to release any restrictions on the work. Maybe, "Original work of the US Army" ? You can always just try to put it up, kind of a trial and error thing. Generally, if it's not acceptable, someone will come along and either fix it or tag it for deletion. Really, nothing catastrophic either way. :)--Yohmom (talk) 20:34, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
I put up a question on the copyright question page so hopefully someone will address it soon. I know to achieve GA status I most definitely need an image so I may or may not attempt it after I get the image up. I have addressed all of the concerns of my peer reviews so hopefully at some point I can make GA. I just use the search box on the left of the Wikimedia Commons page. Doing a little searching myself, I came up with this picture. (I assume that the shadowed area indicates a loss of blood flow? but I'd ask the author of the work on that one...) You might have to get creative with the search phrases. Nothing comes up under "Brain Ischemia" but you might want to look under terms like "stroke." --Yohmom (talk) 23:56, 29 March 2009 (UTC)
I'm also TPWing, and I thought I'd throw in my two cents. First off, images are not a requirement for GAN. See: Wikipedia:Good article criteria and there's also a discussion on my GAN page: Talk: Osteitis fibrosa cystica/GA3. Furthermore, if you can't find/need images for your article, and need to secure copyrights, there's a form letter that MR left on my talk page that's helpful for the daunting task of "asking permission." Agreed. The contributors of the PET scans and MRIs on WikiCommons (a few claimed to be radiologists) probably have images hanging around that they haven't uploaded. It wouldn't hurt to ask them if they have anything specific or helpful to your article too. --Yohmom (talk) 01:55, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

Okay, so I found a few images that were already on wikipedia that I figured would be some bit helpful to the reader. I did use that image above but I just left the caption. ? It sounded pretty solid. I was going to add something but it is basically already stated in the paragraph beside the image so I just didn't. Yeah I knew an image was not required but I figured that it may be helpful! :-) Thank you so much for both of your help and the edits you did to Brain ischemia. I think it's good to go. The FA reviewers will, of course, take a hack at it and nitpick some more. You can't anticipate everything. I'll need the following conditions:
1. Peach pie. Pie may be a product of frozen or canned goods. The more preservatives the better. Pie must be served with ice cream, and not the pansy low-fat kind. Pie must be served with proper cutlery. Pie crust may not be rolled and cut on a surface where mice have recently been thawed out for snakes to eat.
2. Banana-grams. I reserve the right to discard any of following letters without penalty: Q,X,Z. I also reserve the right to take any vowels or consonants I need. Speling theengs foneticlly is also alowd for me and me onlee. Abbreviations are also acceptable...for me.

For the record .... I only ask them to open an account. The ones with the user pages did that without my instructions ... although I introduced the project by sharing the efforts of the 2008 group. Also, as the one that came the closest to breaking the code of citation formatting you may throw them a bone if they if they get it wrong. Only the abstract is in English, and I'm pretty sure you can see that already. The PDF is copy-protected so I can't simply email the article to you. The article is also right-click protected so I can't copy-paste it into a Word document. However, I can print the article out and have a man who is currently sleeping on the couch when he should really be doing the dishes personally deliver it to Croatan Correctional Facility if you want to type the thing into an online translator...but that seems like a bit much.--Yohmom (talk) 23:45, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
After typing the first sentence into Google Translate, it produced this wonderful sentence: Hypertrichosis described, based on location, age, gender and ethnic origin, excessive, diffuse or circumscribed hair growth, not corresponding to the distribution pattern of secondary male Geschlechtsbehaarung...which I believe should read more like: Hypertrichosis denotes growth of hair on any part of the body in excess of the amount usually present in persons of the same age, race, and sex, excluding androgen-dependent hair growth.
