The casts in the show are either Russian and Ukrainian language. For instance, you can see Kiev day and night in Ukrainian Wikipedia. It shows the languages was Russian until season 4 and the language subsequently changed to Ukrainian. I don't know but I'll tell about the two countries (even if I'm in other region). Ukraine is a part of USSR until 1991 and has the same Russuan language and writing system. She is still enacts the Russian language within her territory. You have to be a pretty naive Ukrainian if you still want to be influenced by the Russian language since the ongoing Russian military intervention in Ukraine. The Russian language is used as an imperialistic tool by the current Russian government and I think people should not use any imperialistic tool of the current Russian government. (Sorry for looking impolite.)
Anyhow my point was that these days the English language world is seeing Ukraine and Russia as two different identities with different languages who have different spellings of names (Elina Svitolina vs. Jelina Svitolina). What people in Ukraine think about their identity has no influence on the spelling of names in English Wikipedia. The city of Mykolaiv can still be only spelled Mykolaiv on English Wikipedia because Mykolaiv is its common English name. For consistency within articles + the Wikipedia article on Mykolaiv. It would be really absurd if Mykolaiv would be different spelled in different current affairs Wikipedia articles. "Kiev Day and Night" is not a show from the past so Mykolaiv it is spelled there. I guess there are no such clear common English names for Ukrainian actors. PS I have actually been to Mykolaiv and various other places in Ukraine. So I am aware that Russian is being spoken in Ukraine. I just personally think that the people who do that are making a mistake and I don't like that/it. I don't like Stepan Bandera either, by the way. It seems that President Zelensky and his party Servant of the People can not find people who want to be appointed.... Zelensky did complain that he could not find Ministers. This staffing problem could have been foreseen.... I myself do not find it strange that they can not find people. Zelensky himself and almost 100% of the people of Servant of the People were not involved in politics until November 2018 (I concluded this after my research for the expansion of the Wikipedia article about the party).... And the party has almost a minuscule membership compared with the membership of Western European political parties. As you have discovered, I have started to update the articles adding info on the raion changes. I started with Cherkasy Oblasy, and my idea is to do it like this for abolished raions, this for retained and new raions, and this for affected localities.
