Alexandra of Edinburgh

I was actually a proponent of moving Alexandra's and her sisters' pages because what is used for them is not necessarily how they are titled here on Wikipedia. Alexandra's father may have been the Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha and she a princess of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, however, Alexandra is most commonly referred to as Princess Alexandra of Edinburgh. It would make sense to refer to her simply as Princess Alexandra of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha or even Princess Alexandra of Edinburgh and of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, but we can't go back and tell people to call her that. It has been established by time that the princess is most known as Princess Alexandra of Edinburgh. You must remember, she was only the maiden daughter of a duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha for about three years. For 15 years prior, she was known as Princess Alexandra of Edinburgh. That usage was continued.

Honestly, if I did have it my way, she would be Princess Alexandra of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha or Princess Alexandra of Edinburgh, but not both at once. It was never used together. I suggested the moves and it basically went nowhere. You can view that here: Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (names and titles)#Saxe-Coburg & Gotha/Edinburgh. As you can see from the posting by Noel McFerran, the dual designation was never used. I take a lot of what Noel says to be true as he is a university librarian and researches these things. Also, Christoph's and Sophie's closest relationship was that of double second cousins once removed. Christoph was a great-grandson of Victoria and Albert while Sophie was a great-great-granddaughter. Christoph was also a great-grandson of Prince William of Hesse-Cassel and Princess Louise Charlotte of Denmark and Norway while Sophie was again a great-great-granddaughter. Cadet members of the landgravial (Cassel) line were styled Highness, cadet members of the Darmstadt/by Rhine line were styled Grand Ducal Highness. It's a fairly common mistake. That being said, I am absolutely baffled as to why the children of Maurice, Landgrave of Hesse only use Highness rather than Grand Ducal Highness. But that is a nother discussion... Re:Café Crème

The article was speedy deleted under CSD G11, which states that an article used to endorse or advertise a company or product can be deleted immediately. That's why it didn't go through AfD. If articles are deleted under "CSD..." then that means there was usually no AfD for the article (unless it's CSD G4 which says an article can be deleted if it is recreated after an AfD consensus of delete had been reached). I know it's all confusing, so I suggest just taking a look at WP:CSD instead of listening to my drivel lol. Nishkid64 18:52, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
