Hi. :) This article is ineligible for PROD due to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Fort Washington Fire Company. If you believe it should be deleted, you may want to open a new AFD; opinions may have changed since 2005. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 21:18, 9 June 2015 (UTC)

@Moonriddengirl: I kind of figured that seeing as a freaking decade had passed I might be ok with it. ;-) AFD it is! Thanks. Have a great day. --Zackmann08 (talk) 21:27, 9 June 2015 (UTC)

First of all, my bad! I didn't realize I had done that before. Please don't think I tried to sneak that in there. I honestly just missed it. Second, while the building is used to store equipment for the Salvage Corps, as far as I can tell the, corps are not and were not a fire department. Plus, either way the building is no longer in use by the department. Additionally, these categories (Category:Fire departments of the United States) across the board are used exclusively for categorizing actual fire departments. I'm been slowly working through redoing every department page in the US (see User:Zackmann08 for my WIPs) and this is the only page I have come across that is categorized in this fashion. There are other buildings and even active stations that have pages, but they are not categorized as being departments. To draw a parallel lets look at baseball (mainly because I am watching a game at the moment... 😉), if we look at Category:Major League Baseball teams, using your argument it would seem to be that AT&T Park (where the San Francisco Giants play) would need to go in that category... It is a building in use by the team. But the category specifically says teams just like the category we are talking about specifically says departments. Anyway, you have WAY more experience that I do at this but would really like to pick your brain and see if we can't come to a good consensus. Hope you are having a great day. --Zackmann08 (talk) 00:29, 11 June 2015 (UTC)

According to the article, the corps "were accorded the same status as official firefighters while at fire zones." Why should they not be considered a fire department? Meanwhile, as I see it, there's a big difference between your example and this one: this article covers both the building and the category. Let's say that we don't have much information about the Giants and their park, just enough to write one short article covering both: wouldn't we categorise it under both trees? The same thing's true with church articles: for example, the Apostolic Bethlehem Temple Church, half a mile away, is categorised both for the building (e.g. "Gothic Revival churches in Ohio") and for the congregation (e.g. "Pentecostal churches in Ohio"). Shouldn't this be the same way? Nyttend (talk) 00:40, 11 June 2015 (UTC)
@Nyttend: Yes but in your example both categories describe churches... I understand mine was not a perfect analogy, I was attempting to draw a parallel. And while "accorded the same status as official firefighters while at fire zones", that doesn't make them firefighters or members of a fire department. The Chief of Staff to the POTUS has the equivalent ranking of a four-star general but you would never categorize them as being a ranking member of the armed force. Being accorded a rank/position in certain scenarios is not the same as BEING that rank/position. Additionally, that still doesn't address the issue of the fact that no where else on Wikipedia is anything besides actual fire departments, with engines, hose, etc. categorized as being in a department. I respect that we have differing opinions. I don't think either of us are going to change eachothers mind so I will open an RfC on the page. --Zackmann08 (talk) 00:50, 11 June 2015 (UTC)
That's too much work. If you file a request for a third opinion, I will abide by the decision. Nyttend (talk) 00:55, 11 June 2015 (UTC)

Not offering a third opinion, or weighing in about this section's topic. I'd simply suggest having/moving this discussion to the article's proper discussion forum, its talk page. That way, other interested editors can see the discussion and participate. It's far less likely anyone will see it here. Someone may decline the third opinion request, because from my experience, the process generally doesn't handle disputes in the user namespace. Godsy(TALKCONT) 06:41, 11 June 2015 (UTC)

Third opinion Looking at the other pages such as Underwriters Salvage Corps (St. Louis) and New York Fire Patrol, which existed until 2006 even, as a firefighter myself I feel that the WP:COMMONSENSE definition of a fire department is different from what Underwriters Salvage Corps (Cincinnati, Ohio) was, and would be better served by being listed in the Firefighting history category, but not as an actual fire department, as it wasn't. The best analogy I can think of would be an auxiliary in that they assisted the actual fire departments, and - speculating here - they likely were given firefighter status on the fireground for insurance & ease of access reasons. Can be thought of the same as arson investigators employed by fire departments in some jurisdictions having law enforcement authority as it relates to a scene, but at the same time they're not considered police officers. RegistryKey(RegEdit) 01:03, 15 June 2015 (UTC)

@RegistryKey: Many thanks for your thoughts! (@Nyttend:) --Zackmann08 (talk) 01:40, 15 June 2015 (UTC)
Understood, and I'll withdraw my opposition. RegistryKey, thanks for your input. Nyttend (talk) 01:43, 15 June 2015 (UTC)

Changed the manner in which the discussion was closed. Just wanted to notify you, in case you weren't watching the page.Godsy(TALKCONT) 21:14, 15 June 2015 (UTC)

@Godsy: I was watching it and saw your additions. Greatly appreciate them. I wasn't sure what the best way to archive that was but I wanted to make sure there was a record of that conversation somewhere. You make a good point about that NOT being 'rule of law' moving forward, but at the very least I think it sets a good precedent. But of course if someone contest it in the future, it will be re-evaluated. Again, thanks! --Zackmann08 (talk) 21:18, 15 June 2015 (UTC)

Why are you proposing the Bayport Fire Department page be deleted and merged into the Town of Bayport page? thanks

@Jason640: Couple of things. First, when adding to a talk page, please add to the bottom, not the top. Also, please always sign using ~~~~. Regarding the Bayport Fire Department I nominated the page for deletion because there is very little on that page that is sourced, most of it is written as a promotion of the department or is a stats book. Additionally there is nothing notable about the department. Thanks. --Zackmann08 (talk) 05:01, 16 June 2015 (UTC)
@Zackmann08:The page appears to have been edited by a local historian since I first created the page. I will make some edits and or add more sources. When you say there is nothing notable, can you give me an example? The page is actual very important to the fire department. Thanks. ~~ Jason640
@Jason640: it may be very important to the fire department but this page is not for the fire department. This is an encyclopedia not a blog. I take it you are affiliated with the department? --Zackmann08 (talk) 05:44, 16 June 2015 (UTC)
@Zackmann08: I am affiliated with them but regardless of that, I disagree that the page is being used as a blog and I know the page isn't for them but that doesn't diminish the importance of the page. As I stated earlier, the page has been significantly changed since I first created it. I will edit the page so it is more standardized to the wikipedia format. ~~Jason640
@Jason640: I am all in favor of the page so long as it is encyclopedic content. :-) Also, just so you know, the {{ping}} template doesn't need to be used if you are talking on my talk page. I already get alerted when you leave me a message on my page. The purpose of the template is to let others know. Thanks though. Also, just to be clear, I'm not anti-fire departments or anything like that! I'm a fire photographer out here in California and if you look at my main user page you will see I am hard at work at revamping TONS of fire department pages. So anyway. I'm off to bed but I am in favor of keeping the page if it has real encyclopedic content. My advice to you? Check out WP:FIRE-STRUCT for some guidance. You might also look at some of the articles about departments in California since they are really well organized, Los Angeles Fire Department for example. Anyway, talk more tomorrow? Keep in touch. I want to help!! --Zackmann08 (talk) 06:07, 16 June 2015 (UTC)

Wantagh Fire Department

I see that you've tagged the Wantagh Fire Department over the issues of notability and copyvio. It's the latter that disappoints me more than anything else. I'm not going to complain about your reasons for tagging it, but I still think it should be redirected to Wantagh, New York. The incident with the USAF fighter's crash causing a fire to 30 houses and the Jones Beach Boardwalk Restaurant fire might be good for some history in the Wantagh article, though. ---------User:DanTD (talk) 22:48, 1 July 2015 (UTC)

@DanTD: I'm not sure what you mean by that disappointing you more... The page is clearly copied and pasted... See this analysis of the page... As for the fighter jet crash, by all means go ahead and include it in the cities article, but it is worth noting that the crash doesn't even appear in List of accidents and incidents involving military aircraft (1960–74). If you want to improve the article, go for it. But as it currently sits there is nothing notable about it and it is just copied. --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 23:49, 1 July 2015 (UTC)
I know it's copied and pasted. That's what disappoints me. Anyway, here's the article on the plane crash. ---------User:DanTD (talk) 00:04, 2 July 2015 (UTC)
Ah gotcha. I misunderstood. Well feel free to add that to the article... --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 00:25, 2 July 2015 (UTC)

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

I noticed your recent edit to Austin Fire Department does not have an edit summary. Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. Thanks! John from Idegon (talk) 06:20, 4 July 2015 (UTC)

John from Idegon a bit patronizing but thanks for the reminder. I forgot to input a summary. As I pointed out you in my comment now, you were WP:BOLD. I disagree. Stop the Harrassment

Zach, You would not have known that I did that unless your sitting on your computer 24/7 watching me. Are you an administrator? NO! SO YOU CAN NOT BLOCK ME! thank you, tom991

@Tom991: we have been through this before. I saw your change because the page is on my watch list. If you wish to remove content, than please give a reason in your edit summary. Otherwise, my message and comments are perfectly reasonably. I am in no way, shape or form harassing you and I would encourage you to use good faith. --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 01:14, 26 July 2015 (UTC)

Apology

Zack, I apologize for the way that I have been acting. I should not be acting like that towards you. Again I apologize. tom991

@Tom991: that is quite alright but thank you for the message. Couple of pieces of advice? And you can take them or leave them, entirely up to you!
  • Remember to always sign you post with --~~~~ instead of just putting "tom911".
  • Realize that people monitor pages they have edited. So if I (or anyone else) revert a change you made, it isn't that we are following you, we are following the page.
  • The warnings are not meant to imply that I will block you... They are templates that are automatically added. I am not typing all that text out myself. It is something that was written years ago by admins. It is meant to be a warning saying "Hey, you should try not to do this, if you keep doing it, AN ADMIN may step in and block you." You can take it as a threat if you want, most choose to look at it as a wake up call of "oops, I messed up. Shouldn't do that anymore."
Anyway, I appreciate the apology. Hope to move forward! There is a lot of value you can bring to wikipedia. Have a good evening. --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 04:06, 26 July 2015 (UTC)

Hi, Zackmann08. :) I appreciate your attribution in the edit summary, but as I was adding the required notices on the source page I realized that this wasn't really a merge - which is when you meld two articles together - but the creation of a new page. When you want to create a new page based on content in an existing page, please just move the page so that the attribution stays together. If you do merge content from one article to another, please make sure to follow the process at WP:MERGETEXT, with a note on the talk page of the source article ({{Copied}} works well) and {{R from merge}} on the redirect page. This will help prevent inadvertent deletion of that critical edit history. Thanks! --Moonriddengirl (talk) 23:46, 15 August 2015 (UTC)

Please revert your last edit as now you too are over WP:3RR. --NeilN talk to me 17:12, 25 August 2015 (UTC)

@NeilN: my understanding was that the WP:3RR was designed to keep pages from being changed as a result of warring. I restored the page to its original state state pending the outcome of the discussion. Help me understand? --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 17:14, 25 August 2015 (UTC)
Restoring to the original state still counts as a revert. "An edit or a series of consecutive edits that undoes other editors' actions—whether in whole or in part—counts as a revert." --NeilN talk to me 17:16, 25 August 2015 (UTC)
@NeilN: Gotcha. Thank you. Seems odd to me that an anonymous IP can come in and just revert to the point of getting his version there by means of an edit war. But I respect the rules and defer to the admins. Thanks for the explanation and the note! Hoping you are well. Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 17:19, 25 August 2015 (UTC)
Thanks. I agree it's sometimes frustrating but usually everything works out with a little patience. Either someone else will revert, agreeing with you, or they might tweak the colors. --NeilN talk to me 17:23, 25 August 2015 (UTC)
Well I greatly appreciate your willingness to explain this to me. I promise to do better with it in the future. Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing)

@NeilN: Found what it was I was thinking of earlier... Wikipedia:BOLD, revert, discuss cycle. Doesn't this mean that the changes to the template should be reverted back to their original state and then discussed? --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 01:43, 26 August 2015 (UTC)

WP:BRD is an essay (but a widely quoted one), WP:EW is policy. BRD also says not to edit war: Wikipedia:BOLD,_revert,_discuss_cycle#Edit_warring. Basically, no admin is going to exempt your edits if you say, "I was just reverting back to the original state". WP:3RRNO lists all the limited exemptions and restoring to the original state is not one of them. Occasionally, an admin will come across an edit war, restore to the original state, and fully protect the page but they are acting in an admin capacity to stop the edit war. --NeilN talk to me 03:10, 26 August 2015 (UTC)
@NeilN: to be clear, I wasn't trying to excuse my actions earlier. I still violated the 3RR. Plain and simple, I messed up. My question is now, would it be appropriate for someone other than myself (perhaps you?) to revert the page back to its original state pending the outcome of this discussion. As I stated there, if the consensus reached is to change to color scheme, I will support it! My issue is that one anonymous user came along and reverted until we were in a war, and now it locked in his state. Does that make sense? --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 04:30, 26 August 2015 (UTC)
Anyone else can revert. Can't be me per WP:INVOLVED. The only way I could revert is to stop an edit war which has already been stopped. --NeilN talk to me 04:43, 26 August 2015 (UTC)
@Wikimandia: I guess this is where I turn to you my friend! :-p Care to help me out? Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing)

@Ellin Beltz: thanks so much for the find words! It's been fun to work on, except for the drama around Template:California wildfires... Anyway thanks for adding the photos!! Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing)
Can you add the Humboldt County and Trinity County wildfires to the table for this year's events? UCSB

@Zackmann08 I don't know how to start a new thread of my own, but I have been making edits to the "Campus Democrats" bit on the UCSB wikipedia page. As a current student at UCSB, and a member of many student organizations, as well as student government, I need to mention that Campus Democrats is not a "very active" organization. In fact, it is near-dead, with small amounts of members attending meetings. if you look at their facebook page, their posts have minimal likes, up to 1 in recent times, and no recent posts for the past 4 months. Even small clubs at UCSB meet over the summer(15-30 members) such as Circle K. I am merely deleting a unreferenced piece of untrue information. Stop stopping me. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lacter543 (talkcontribs) 18:31, 31 August 2015 (UTC)

Detroit Fire Department

Zack, I'm not sure why your concerning yourself with a Fire Department or its Wikipedia page in a State that you dont reside in (I know this because the time on the bottom of the page is 4 hours ahead of my time), but since you have, you really need to do some research to find out the correct information before making changes. I not only live in the state of Michigan, but in the City of Detroit & have followed the city's Fire department for more than 25 years & know where every station is located as well as the neighborhoods they serve And when certain Engine's or Ladder's go in & out of service. The neighborhood information is not only incorrect but not needed. It is unnecessary information & not as useful as the Locations of the individual Stations as well as headquarters. Understanding that you have been a contributor to Wikipedia for several years, if your not an administrator, I dont know why I or anyone else would have to answer to you as far as giving reason why I made the corrections as you wouldnt have to answer to why you made changes. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BiggD301 (talkcontribs) 07:08, 1 September 2015 (UTC)

@BiggD301: you really need to learn how Wikipedia works. If the neighborhoods are wrong that is one thing, but the fact that I live somewhere else has nothing to do with what pages I edit. --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 16:11, 1 September 2015 (UTC)
Ok, As true as that may be, when your editing a page it helps to know the correct information. Also doesnt mean what i'm editing is wrong either.

North Fire

Hi, Zackmann. I re-added the total number of cars burned in the North Fire to 74. The reliable reference I quoted states emphatically that 30 vehicles were burned on the interstate, and 44 more in Baldy Mesa. I believe Calfire's number is incorrect. If you find reliable sources that say otherwise, please feel free to make adjustments, but please don't use the revert tool. Just make good faith edits. Thank you! Perhaps we can collaborate on additional articles in the future! Juneau Mike (talk) 23:27, 7 September 2015 (UTC)

Washington wildfire season infoboxes

I'd rather keep the years in the infobox browse, as it was before. Since these aren't official/well known seasons, it doesn't make sense to label them as a series. SounderBruce 21:35, 3 September 2015 (UTC)

@SounderBruce: I would say that is all the more reason to create pages for the other season. Across the board any time I have seen infoboxes with "previous" and "next" in the context of years/seasons they always point to 1 year previous and 1 year after, whether or not the page exists. An obvious exception would be things like the "Summer Olympics" which is ever 4 years not every 1. --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 22:52, 3 September 2015 (UTC)
At the very least, I'd drop the word "Season", since it clutters the infobox on smaller resolutions (and on the mobile site). SounderBruce 22:56, 3 September 2015 (UTC)
Now that I think about it, my method (showing years) would work out best because of the needs for Southern Hemisphere season articles, such as the Australian ones (which run through December and January, thus requiring articles like 2014–15 Australian bushfire season. The way this kind of situation is handled by other infoboxes (namely, {{Infobox football club season}}) is to leave it to the user to add the years manually. SounderBruce 19:34, 5 September 2015 (UTC)
@SounderBruce: That is a very fair point! Before anything else, just want to say I really appreciate the civility of this dialogue. I've had so many exchanges lately that have devolved into basically name calling and other childish BS. You and I disagree on the best way forward but I greatly appreciate your ability to have CIVIL disagreement on the issue. It is very refreshing. :-) There are a couple of things I would like to point out...
  1. I think it looks much better to have "Previous Season" and "Next Season" on the infobox instead of "2013" and "2015" (or "2012-13" and "2014-15").
  2. Your point about seasons stretching across 2 years is VERY valid and I'm really glad you pointed that out! I never thought about that and the current setup of +/-1 will not work with that. So at the very least we need to accommodate both formats.
  3. One issue I had with your format was that it seemed to only display links to pages that existed. So for example. With Washington wildfires only 2012, 2014 and 2015 have pages at the moment. It seemed like 2012 would either not have any links to next or previous OR it would just have a next link that pointed not to 2013 (which is the next year) but to 2014 (which is the next year with a page). I feel very strongly that it should always display next and previous links, whether those pages currently exist or not (see WP:REDLINK)
Let me know your thoughts? I think the best way forward would be to accommodate both formats. You would be able to either use year and season_name OR previous and next. In the event that all four parameters are used, previous and next would override the other. But regardless of what you put for any of those, the text that would be DISPLAYED would be ← Previous Season and Next Season →. Thanks! --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 21:00, 5 September 2015 (UTC)
Sorry it took so long to respond to this. I've been swept away by transit articles and vectorizing some logos, so I haven't had time to devote to the (thankfully dwindling) wildfire updates. I think we should let the editors themselves decide on a regional basis whether to use the two formats. Australia definitely will have to use my format, but Washington could switch. I'd love to have a parameter (maybe current) that disables the "Next Season" link. SounderBruce 02:13, 10 September 2015 (UTC)

@SounderBruce: How dare you get busy on other things... No worries! I know how that goes. I think bottom line we should make it work for both. What I am going to do is just copy what is used on {{Infobox MLB yearly}}. This has |prev_season=, |next_season= & |season= (season being the year). If |season= is used alone then it does the +/-1 math, but |prev_season= & |next_season= override the math. Also, if |next_season=none then it is simply not displayed (same goes for |prev_season=none). To be honest, I am not as wild about this option. Per WP:REDYES I much prefer to have the redlinks displayed. My concern is not so much with the current season... Like if 2015 California wildfires doesn't have a link to the next season that is fine. I feel confident that when 2016 California wildfires is created the link will be added. My concern is pages like 2004 California wildfires. There is no page for 2003 or 2005. But there should be! And eventually will be... It would not be good for those links to be removed from 2004 California wildfires. Thoughts? --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 17:46, 10 September 2015 (UTC)

Looks good to me. SounderBruce 04:17, 11 September 2015 (UTC)

Rough Fire updates

Hello Zach,

Could you please stop cancelling what I am doing?

OK, I make mistakes, sometime I add unrelated items because I think it can be useful information for the area, and you are welcome to correct and add values to posts. But do not cancel, as I update several parts of the page at the same time.

Related to the part you cancelled, the modification was not from me, I just reformatted it to be more consistent with the page, and the source of the data is in the page related to the list of fire you did some modifications in.

Please, continue your great job, but allow also others to help. Firelly, Marc. Mbajet (talk) 16:28, 11 September 2015 (UTC)

@Mbajet: I am not canceling anything, but when your edits are improperly done, are not in proper english, do not cite sources, do not use proper templates/formatting or break existing templates I will undo them. Not going to apologize for that. If you cannot tolerate other people modifying edits you make then Wikipedia is really not a place for you. --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 16:44, 11 September 2015 (UTC)
@Zackmann08: Please, feel free to correct everything I am doing, and I am sure you do it for good reasons. What I am asking is to not undo other's job. If we want to work as a team for the best result, we can correct/fix/modify, but not undo/remove/cancel.Mbajet (talk) 17:12, 11 September 2015 (UTC)

Ecuadorian painter

Why? What's the reason for wanting to speedy delete? Wouldn't an AFD more more reasonable for a sourced bio? In ictu oculi (talk) 08:12, 13 September 2015 (UTC)

@In ictu oculi: it seemed to meet the criteria to me. Yes the article is sourced but nothing shows what makes them so special. A painter who graduated from a certain school. Ok... Nothing noteworthy there. --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 08:32, 13 September 2015 (UTC)

List of Largest California Wildfires

Hello Zack,

I have a problem with the list of Largest California Wildfires: I updated yesterday that list as Rough Fire is now 16, passing over Happy Camp Complex Fire. Everything is OK on that page, but at the bottom of the page of Rough Fire (and on other largest fires), after the reference section, when select show to the right of Largest California Wildfires box, Rough Fire is still in 17th. Did I miss something?

Thank you for your help.Mbajet (talk) 15:56, 14 September 2015 (UTC)

@Mbajet: you didn't do anything wrong, you just missed a step. There is a navbox template {{California wildfires by size}} that had to be updated as well. I took care of it. Couple of things. First, since you are still new, I recommend reading up on navbox templates to help familiarize yourself. Second, I wouldn't worry too much about this. The Rough Fire is very fluid right now and will likely continue to move up the rungs. With current events it is assumed that info on Wikipedia will be a little behind. If you look at {{California wildfires by size}} you will see there is a † symbol saying that this is still subject to change. Once the fire is contained, we as a community will make sure the final numbers are put in. Finally, despite the fact that you are new, great work! I know wikipedia is challenging, particularly for someone who doesn't speak English fluently. Keep up the great work!! Feel free to leave me a message here anytime. --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 16:43, 14 September 2015 (UTC)

ha vs km2

Hello Zack,

I saw that you modified the table in the Rough Fire page, changing hectares to km2. Is there any rule about that? In France, we prefer to use hectare, which is close to acre. If you prefer to keep km2, may be the 1 digit decimal is needed, and we can add mile2.

Roughly (for the Rough fire :-) ), Marc. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mbajet (talkcontribs) 16:31, 20 September 2015 (UTC)

I'm sorry it took so long for me to respond to the message you left on my talk page a while back, medical issues have this way of taking over without permission ;) but anyway...

I think I ended up listed as a Wikipedian Firefighter because I was an EMT-B and Extrication Specialist, not as a member of a fire department, but as a member of the Huntsville-Madison County Rescue Squad. I'm the odd one out in my family since several are/were firefighters, but I ended up in a different emergency service.

Having looked around the Project page, I could probably be most helpful with the department logos. If I can't find a good image online, I can always re-create it in Photoshop (been there, done that at my "real job"), or clean up an existing image file. The Louisville FD page is one I'm interested in working on since that's near where I grew up.

Have a great day! Mira Oubliettetalk 21:01, 26 September 2015 (UTC)

JKL Museum of Telephony

Dear Zackmann08,

Apparently I did something not right in your opinion regarding the JKL Museum of Telephony on WiKipedia. I just wanted to give a little bit more information about the museum and correct the date which should be September 11 and NOT September 10 of 2015.

I am the JKL Museum of Telephony curator so who would be better qualified to write about the museum? Indeed I quoted from our website which was already mentioned on the topic page.

Can you please enlighten me on how to proceed so we can get the correct and a bit more information online? I would like to make clear that the museum will be rebuild.

Regards,

Module edits

Hello. I just wanted to let you know I reverted your edits at Module:College color/data. @Corkythehornetfan: I saw that and greatly appreciated your explanation in the edit summary. Also thanks for taking the time to leave me a message here. Hope you have a great day. --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 22:33, 28 September 2015 (UTC)
No problem! Now on to Template:University of Virginia... The font was white because most generally the blue and orange do not go well together... thinking of both the colorblind and non-colorblind! (Snook Tool can verify). Plus, most university/university sports navboxes have been changed to the three-color coding just to be on the safe side. Corkythehornetfan 22:39, 28 September 2015 (UTC)

New developments here in Juneau

Created a new article based on recent events here in Juneau: Greg Fisk. Let me know what you think! Juneau Mike (talk) 15:43, 8 October 2015 (UTC)

@Michaelh2001: looks good. Biggest tip I have is that it def needs some navboxes. Take a look at {{Mayors of Chicago}} for example. Should probably make a {{Mayors of Juneau}}. Based on List of mayors of Juneau, Alaska, this template would probably have a few subsections. I would also add a succession box to the template. And ultimately the page should have {{Mayors of US State Capitals}} which will need to be updated when Mr. Fisk officially assumes office. I'm more than happy to help out with any of these so let me know. --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 17:40, 8 October 2015 (UTC)
@Zackmann08: I would be happy for any help! Thank you!! The article is most in need of a Career section (for his business career), and an early life section. Juneau Mike (talk) 18:03, 8 October 2015 (UTC)
@Michaelh2001: To be honest, I'm not as interested in writing the body of the article. Sorry but politics in Alaska isn't on my list of interests. That being said, if you want to focus on adding a career and early life section, I would be happy to build the templates which are much more interesting to me. Also, just so you know, when you are posting/replying on my talk page, you don't need to use {{ping}} as I am automatically alerted to new posts on my own talk page. Ping is to let another user know that they have been responded to/contacted on a talk page other than their own. No HARM in using it here, but just so you know it is redundant. Take care! --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 18:22, 8 October 2015 (UTC)

United States Federal Election Comission isn't a credible source?

So you don't consider numerous official filings (mandated by law) with the FEC a "credible" source? This is all factual information that even the person in question cannot and wouldn't in their right mind deny. If the FEC is not a credible source of election finance information then what is?

Just wondering why you deleted the reference to Murry Taylor's "Jumping Fire" book.

It's not a subject upon which I am an expert, but I found Taylor's book incredibly interesting. It had been recommended to my wife by a professional firefighter. Is it possible the deletion was just a side-effect of reverting an edit of the preceding sentence? 96.240.251.146 (talk) 19:22, 11 November 2015 (UTC)

Non-free image in User:Zackmann08/Santa Cruz

Hi Zackmann08. I just want to let you know that I hid the non-free File:UCSCFD logo.jpg being used in User:Zackmann08/Santa Cruz. Each usage of non-free content must satisfy all 10 of the WP:NFCC. One of these is WP:NFCC#9 which says that non-free content may used in the article namespace. In other words, non-free images such as the "UCSFD logo" may be linked to when being discussed, etc. as I have done above, but they may not be displayed in the user namespace. If you have any questions about this, please feel free to ask here or at WP:MCQ. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:07, 14 December 2015 (UTC)

I did not violate copyright

The videos were mine, as well as the screenshot. I was actually at the scene, I took the videos, and then took screenshots of the moment. Evancahill (talk) 17:48, 24 June 2016 (UTC)

@Evancahill: Oh good to know! That does change things. That being said, I think you will agree that they are rather poor quality. This is not an insult of you or your abilities! But the images are very grainy. I too was on scene as a photographer and will be uploading some higher quality images. In the future, can I recommend using VLC media player? That free program has a feature where you can take a screenshot of the video that will not include the border of the video player itself. Out of curiosity, were you just a passer by, or do you do photography/videography professionally? Would love to see the footage you got! I'm a fire photographer and was actually up in the fire (see my pics....). Hoping you are well! --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 17:55, 24 June 2016 (UTC)

removing thumbail from infobox

Hello Thanks for the message, the image link that i put into the article was the 'official link' given to me by wiki commons so if this contains a thumbnail as you mention and should not have then you might have a mountain of a project ahead!Racingmanager (talk) 09:51, 17 July 2016 (UTC)

@Racingmanager: Totally understood. Yes, the wikicommons give that as the link, but when using infoboxes you only need to give the file name, not the full file link. Thanks! --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 18:44, 17 July 2016 (UTC)

VHS-C : "Removing thumb from infobox"

Hi,

What is the rationale behind this edit?

You state simply "removing thumb from infobox", which says what you're doing, but doesn't say why.

From my point of view, you've removed the S-VHS-C logo without explanation. It appears that it's quite possible to retain both logos without the thumb-like caption (which may have been what you objected to).

It might not be as technically elegant, but technical convenience should not take priority over content.

Ubcule (talk) 09:30, 17 July 2016 (UTC)

@Ubcule: Thank you for the message. First of all, the logo was not removed, it is still in the infobox. There is no need to have 2 logos, only one belongs in the infobox per the Style Manual. This is all part of cleaning out Category:Pages using infoboxes with thumbnail images. If you feel it is absolutely necessary to include both logos, the 2nd logo can go in the article, but it doesn't belong in the infobox. --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 18:43, 17 July 2016 (UTC)
You said that "the logo was not removed". (We were discussing the S-VHS-C logo, so I assume you're referring to that).
As far as I can tell it *had* been removed completely in your edit, which is why I restored it. If I'm mistaken on this, please let me know.
Perhaps you could make your edit summaries more informative. Thank you. Ubcule (talk) 19:23, 17 July 2016 (UTC)
@Ubcule: Hmmm. Not sure what happened there. I've been editing like a mad man so it is not only possible, but likely that I had a typo in my edit causing the logo to totally be removed. Thank you for catching that! I have updated the edit summary I am using to say removing thumb from infobox per WP:INFOBOXIMAGE which should add some clarity. Thanks for your feedback! I really do appreciate it. --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 19:38, 17 July 2016 (UTC)

...thank you for leaving the above note, the problem is the image is too small for mobile devies--Ozzie10aaaa (talk) 19:19, 19 July 2016 (UTC)
@Ozzie10aaaa: that is a fair point, however you do not put thumbnails in an infobox. Making the image larger just so you can see it on a mobile device is not a good enough reason to violate policy. When using a mobile device you can enlarge the image by clicking on. Additionally you can use |image_size=300px to make the image larger, which I have done. --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 19:23, 19 July 2016 (UTC)

The Aftermath duet

Dear Zackmann08, I am pleased to meet you. Thank you for your advices. I am a newcomer in Wikipedia and I really liked it:). If I understood correctly my article does not indicate the importance of the band. What I can say that here in Russia the duet is really significant because there are not many bands in Russia who are good singers-songwriters in English speaking about blues, folk, jazz. Moreover they are the only one who are doing such kind of music in the Northern Caucasus (the Southern part of Russia). Can I ask you , 1. How was it disruptive. 2. What advertising am I doing?

Information icon Hello Zackmann08. Thanks for patrolling new pages – it's a very important task! I'm just letting you know, however, that you shouldn't tag pages as lacking context (CSD A1) and content (CSD A3) moments after they are created. It is also suggested that pages that might meet CSD A7 criteria not be tagged for deletion immediately after they are created. It's usually best to wait at least 10–15 minutes for more content to be added if the page is very short, and the articles should not be marked as patrolled. Tagging such pages in a very short space of time may drive away well-meaning contributors, which is not good for Wikipedia. Attack pages (G10), blatant nonsense (G1), copyright violations (G12) and pure vandalism/blatant hoaxes (G3) should of course be tagged and deleted immediately. Thanks. Thanks

Thanks for inviting me to Wikiproject Wildfire! I will certainly help! :) Evancahill (talk) 23:57, 3 August 2016 (UTC)

@Evancahill: Welcome aboard!!! --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 00:26, 4 August 2016 (UTC)

Thanks.

Thank you as well! Here's one way to prevent this problem from reoccurring for many users: the Commons Upload Wizard, after the user finished the upload process, suggests only two snippets of code. For me, the suggestion was [[File:Double Commander 0.7.2 GTK.png|thumb|Screenshot of Double Commander v0.7.2 running on Ubuntu 16.04]]. Adding a third suggestion there, for screenshots in infoboxes, would be great. Wikipedia's upload wizard might have the same problem. -- Dandv 02:59, 4 August 2016 (UTC)

Wildfire project

Thanks for the heads-up on the wildfire project. I'm not sure what my time is going to be like, but I'll definitely hang around. I'd like to see about pulling some USFS or other public domain photos to illustrate our wildfire articles. - PKM (talk) 23:54, 2 August 2016 (UTC)

@PKM: YES YES YES!!!! I love that idea! It is still very much a work in progress and I would love help shaping the project so any time you are willing to give will be most appreciated! --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 23:55, 2 August 2016 (UTC)
@PKM: made this category which you might find helpful... Category:Wildfire articles needing images --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 21:31, 3 August 2016 (UTC)

WikiProject Wildfire

Thanks for your invitation to join this project. I simply edit articles (on most subjects) requested at the Guild of Copy Editors page here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Guild_of_Copy_Editors/Requests. That's how I ended up editing Rim Fire. If you have an article that you feel could benefit from a copy edit please feel free to submit it to the GOCE and I or another competent editor will look after it for you.

Regards.

Soberanes photo

I sent an email to Brett Gainey of the Santa Clara County Fire Department asking for permission to use the photo at http://fireaviation.com/2016/08/04/impressive-photo-of-dc-10/ . We'll see if he responds. He's probably kind of busy right now. TJRC (talk) 06:01, 5 August 2016 (UTC)

deleted page: Khalid Mahmood Zaidi

Dear Concerned,

A biography page has been created by me naely Khalid Mahmood Zaidi. The same has been removed by wikipedia yesterday. I want that page to be restored as the person to which article relates has contributed a lot in establishing the trends on Pakistan National Television i.e. Pakistan Television Network (PTV). He also remained the General Manager of PTV. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Qasim Omer (talkcontribs) 07:51, 5 August 2016 (UTC)

Seekonk Speedway

So instead of just deleting one thing, you decide that its a better option to just delete every single thing that I've done with the entire article? Almost none of the information in there is correct anymore. I spent a couple hours basically rewriting the article, and now its all gone because of you. Thanks a lot, no wonder so many people hate Wikipedia — Preceding unsigned comment added by FallRiverTyler (talkcontribs) 15:29, 5 August 2016 (UTC)

@FallRiverTyler: the content you posted was copied and pasted from another website which violates WP:COPYVIO. If you had perhaps not taken such a hostile tone I would be more willing to assist you. Would you like to try again? --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 16:58, 5 August 2016 (UTC)
@Zachmann08: None of the content I had posted was copied and pasted, I took the time to type everything out myself so as to make sure it was not a copy and paste. Sorry I came off as hostile, it was just very aggravating since I had spent a few hours doing all of that, and I love the place
@Zachmann08: Thank you very much, and I apologize again for being hostile towards you

IceTwinsMom

Thank you Zackmanno8 for the redirect on the caption for Yura Min's Bio Page. I'm brand new to Wikipedia(and coding anything). Is there a page you can direct me to that has the majority of commonly needed wiki text codes? I'm also currently struggling with citing reference. I did all the research in advance of writing the "Alexander Gamelin" bio page but haven't added the references yet. The greatest percentage are internet pages. Each time I've tried to archive a page to avoid link rot archiving failed. I'm not experienced enough to know why or what to do to make the correction. Please offer help if you can. Also have a number of newpaper articles (not available online) and am tying to see my way through going from PDF to usable reference. Mentoring sure helps. Thank you in advance. Your GA nomination of Sherpa Fire

Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Sherpa Fire you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. Message delivered by Legobot, on behalf of Midnightblueowl -- Midnightblueowl (talk) 15:41, 9 August 2016 (UTC)

Hey

I just saw User:Zackmann08/Thumb-Warning on someone's talk page and really liked it. You have such a friendly, useful message with a solidly collaborative approach.

I just boldly changed the formatting on it. I removed the icon, because the research indicates that these warning symbols are off-putting to users, and it's clear from the rest of the message that's not what you want. I also split it into a couple of paragraphs, because it will be easier to read. If you don't like my changes, then feel free to revert, but I hope that you like them! WhatamIdoing (talk) 08:55, 9 August 2016 (UTC)

@WhatamIdoing: In the future, please do not edit a page that is in another user's userspace without first seeking their approval. Unless content in that page violates wiki policy, for example it uses non-free images or it incorrectly categorizes a draft article, such edits are severely frowned upon. The fact that you chose to edit my template BEFORE leaving me this message does not endear me to your assistance. While your heart may have been in the right place, the method you chose to execute was inappropriate. --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 17:09, 9 August 2016 (UTC)

Thumb or not

Thank you for the advice. I am relatively new to infoboxes, so that is helpful. Nest wishes, --Po Kadzieli (talk) 07:54, 10 August 2016 (UTC)

OTRS Questions

Hi Zackmann08 I received the messages and appreciate your direction. Currently I'm challenged with 2 images I uploaded to the commons for which I have a written copyright release giving me full right to use the photos anywhere and in any way I choose. I've read the OTRS section and understand that the photographer must use the OTRS email template to submit the copyright release. I'm confused about what to do (code to use) to keep the images from being deleted in the next few days. Being brand new to Wikipedia, WikiCommons and coding I get a bit overwhelmed. Can you assist or point me in the right direction. The author of the alter to me left a note that he wasn't available in the immediate future. The photos in question are in the infobox on pages for "Alexander Gamelin" and "Yura Min".IceTwinsMom (talk) 20:23, 10 August 2016 (UTC)IceTwinsMom

@IceTwinsMom: thanks for reaching out. First a reminder, when you leave a NEW message on a user's talk page, be sure to add a new section or section heading. I did it for you here by adding the "OTRS Questions" heading you will see above. Second, with your images, assuming you have sent the OTRS email then what you need to do is place the OTRS pending template on the images. Do this by visiting your files on WikiCommons, such as Commons:File:Alexander Gamelin Yura Min Ice Dance Team (KR) 2016 Portrait.gif, and clicking edit. Then you can insert the template as indicated by the documentation on the template page. If you need further assistance, I recommend you posting at the Commons Village Pump. Click on "Start a new discussion" and ask your questions. An expert will help you out! --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 20:45, 10 August 2016 (UTC)

Edits not appearing to public

Can you please let me know what else I need to do to make the edits appear to the public that I made to the BurbankBus listing yesterday?

I look forward to your response, and I greatly appreciate your help.

Speedy Deletion Interference

I have only removed it once, I am not sure why you are stating that I am interfering with anything this is not my first page this is NOT an orphan page without credible external references. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Heathnw77 (talkcontribs) 18:19, 11 August 2016 (UTC)

International Novi Sad Literature Festival

Dear Zackmann008,

I've notices that you deleted page I made yesterday, about International Novi Sad Literature Festival. You deleted picture with logo of INSLF, list of participants, detailed description and reference links which consists from public media covering INSLF and put back previous version, which faulty in many ways.

Can you, please, explain me what was wrong with new page...with list of participants by year, description of activities, picture of out logo...? In your message you were also talking about copy wrights - in which matter you feel that I violated those?

Thank you.

Best regards — Preceding unsigned comment added by J47zivlak (talkcontribs) 07:43, 11 August 2016 (UTC)

@J47zivlak: I left you a message on your talk page at the time I removed the content. The content you added was simply copied and pasted from other sources which is a blatant violation of WP:COPYVIO. --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 15:04, 11 August 2016 (UTC)

Dear Zackman,

International Novi Sad Literature Festival is founded by Association of Writers of Vojvodina. I am Administrator of Association. Text I've added is from our Catalogue and list of participants is from our website. Association is owner of the logo of INSLF which was in infobox. All links you have removed are reliable resources of information about Festival - official link of City of Novi Sad, link to television show about Festival with interview of last year winner of Novi Sad Literature Prize, for which we gave rights to Broadcasting Company... We are non-profit organization which is doing important cultural work in sense of promotion of contemporary literature. No violation of copy wright has been made, since we are the owners of those copy wrights. Please, let me know if you need some proof for all this, since we would like to have out wiki page back. infobox image

hi, I didn't use thumbnail before on [Jason Zhang] but infobox image was deleted again and again. I don't know why because the label info was completely edited. can you give me an explanation? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Twinklestellar (talkcontribs) 10:01, 12 August 2016 (UTC)

@Twinklestellar: in the future, please remember to always sign your post with ~~~~. Your photos are removed because they are copywritten and not yours. Please post at the Village pump on commons if you have more questions about your images. --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 15:35, 12 August 2016 (UTC)
