BIOGRAPHY:

Choudhary Fateh Ali Sarwari Kasana (1927-1987) belongs to the Gurjar tribe of Jammu & Kashmir, India. He was a veteran journalist, historian, linguist and a profolic writer of Gojri language and literature par excellence. He was born to a poor farmer Choudhary Shukar Din Kasana in a small hamlet called "Muaali", of tehsil (a section of a district) Samba, of district Jammu, J&K India on 12th of March, 1927. Having faced many ups and downs in the backdrop of 1947 turmoil of India-Pakistan partition, Sarwari Kasana left the mundane life of the rural folks and adopted the profession of journalism by editing the Urdu Newspaper Nawae-Qaum (December, 1956). This brought him to the forefront of literary, social, and political circles of the Jammu & Kashmir state as well as India in particular in a very short span of time. In order to steer the Gujjar tribe out of its social and economic backwardness and also to raise their deplorable education standards, Sarwari Kasana devoted his whole life, working hard as a Social-Tribal Activist, Moral Reformer for the causes of the Gujjars in India. In the year 1965, He launched a bi-lingual Hindi-Urdu Monthly Magazine titled "Gujjar Desh" in which he set forth these causes to see the harvest of his labour for the sake of his community. He started visiting and working in co-ordination with many national level community leaders of the Gurjar tribe in northern Indian states such as Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujrat, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab etc. Coordinating with leaders such as Ram Chander Vikal, Sami Khatana, Rajesh Pilot, Balwant Singh, Amrik Singh, Hoshiar Singh, Baba Amte, Avtar Singh Badhana, Mian Bashir Ahmed Larvi, Gh. Hassan Lisanvi, Rajinder Singh Biduri, etc. The scourge endured by him bore fruits in 1991, when Union Government Of India finally agreed to declare the Gujjar tribe of Jammu & Kashmir state to be among the list of "Scheduled Tribes." This declaration by the Central Government, was indeed Sarwari Kasana's brain child. Sarwari, the pseudonym meaning "the Chief" or "the Officer" was conferred upon him by his loving companions (Source: "Sarwari Number",a biography published by J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages). He was a learned linguist and versatile scholar of Semitic as well as Indo-Aryan, Indo-Iranian languages such as Arabic, Persian, Urdu, Gojri, Bhojpuri, Marwarhi, Mewati, Garhwali, and Hindi. In 1978, Sarwari Kasana was engaged as Editor (Projects) in the Gojri Section of the Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture And Languages for doing linguistic research on Gojri Language. Many important and prestigious research projects such as the comprehensive 6 volume Gojri Dictionary, The Gojri Encyclopedia and some crucial publications regarding Gojri language and literature were undertaken during his tenure in the Academy. His research papers on the history of Gurjars, have brought him international acclaim. Many of his poems, short stories, and essays on Gojri, written during this period, have been published by the Academy. Because of his selfless service and contribution in the field Gojri language, Sarwari Kasana is today called the "Father of Gojri Language" among the literary echelons of the Jammu & Kashmir state. Sarwari Kasana Breathed his last on 12-03-1987. To this day, Sarwari Kasana is remembered, respected, and adored as a legendary as well as revolutionary figure of the Gujjar community. So much so that, Sarwari Kasana has attained the epithet, "The Messiah of Gurjars" in India.

Non-free rationale for File:GurjarTribe1927.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:GurjarTribe1927.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 10:10, 16 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:GurjarTribe1927.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:GurjarTribe1927.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. License tagging for File:Gurjar Tribe1927.jpeg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Gurjar Tribe1927.jpeg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 16:05, 16 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Gurjar Tribe1927.jpeg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
