Introduction to contentious topics[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Additionally you must be logged-in, have 500 edits and an account age of 30 days and are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on a page within this topic.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Notice

The article Scaath, California has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

As with the last time this page was deleted, the two sources given are both unreliable and fail to establish verifiability.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. — Moriwen (talk) 16:26, 15 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Moriwen I was unaware that the page was deleted prior, apologies. Unfortunately couldn't find many overly reliable sources to support the article despite the settlement itself definitely existing. I suppose deletion is reasonable. Sorry again for the mistake. Zinderboff(talk) 05:43, 17 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Format of infoboxes[edit]

Why did you change the format of the infobox in this edit? The standard format is set out at Template:Infobox academic. Khiikiat (talk) 15:07, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Khiikiat Hi there, thanks for reaching out. I understand you preferred the previous look? My goal with the change was to minimise the code and make it a bit cleaner, but readability is definitely important, and if the change has affected the readability, let me know.
If there's a strong preference to keep the original spacing, I'm happy to revert it. Zinderboff(talk) 16:20, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Zinderboff: Removing the spacing makes it more difficult for editors to read through the parameters. If you were to restore the original spacing, it would be greatly appreciated. Khiikiat (talk) 09:48, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Khiikiat Got it, will do. Thanks for the feedback! Zinderboff(talk) 12:24, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
