Notice of edit warring Noticeboard Discussion

[edit]

Information icon Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion involving you at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring regarding a possible violation of Wikipedia's policy on edit warring. The thread is Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring#User:ZipthatChop reported by User:Cookiemonster1618 (Result:). Thank you. Cookiemonster1618 (talk) 05:32, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Collaborative editing

[edit]

Wikipedia works by editors working together cooperatively, not by individual editors trying to push through what they personally believe is right, irrespective of anyone else. If you find yourself disagreeing with other editors then explain your reasons for disagreeing with them in a polite and friendly way, and be prepared to discuss the issues, with a view to trying to reach agreement.

I think it best to warn you that if you continue as you have started you are likely to be blocked from editing by an administrator. Unacceptable editing practices include, but are not restricted to: responding to other editors in an aggressive manner; repeating the same, or almost the same, edits several times despite disagreements from other editors; removing sourced content from articles without explanation, or with inadequate explanation, such as that you personally don't like it. Worse than any of those, however, is the kind of thing you did at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring, where you completely blanked the page, removing numerous discussions. If you do anything like that again you are almost certain to be blocked from editing immediately. Please take note of this warning, and try to heed it, as otherwise you may not be able to continue to contribute to the encyclopaedia. JBW (talk) 09:18, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 1 week for edit warring, as you did at Hausa people. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please review Wikipedia's guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Bbb23 (talk) 12:50, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia's technical logs indicate that this user account has been or may be used abusively. It has been blocked indefinitely from editing to prevent abuse.

Note that multiple accounts are allowed, but not for illegitimate reasons, and any contributions made while evading blocks or bans may be reverted or deleted.
If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you should review the guide to appealing blocks, and then appeal your block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|Your reason here ~~~~}}. Note that anything you post in your unblock request will be public, so you may alternatively use the Unblock Ticket Request System to submit an appeal if it contains information that must be private.

Administrators: Checkusers have access to confidential system logs not accessible by the public or by administrators due to the Wikimedia Foundation's privacy policy. You must not loosen or remove this block, or issue an IP block exemption, without consulting with a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee. Administrators who undo checkuser blocks without permission from a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee may be summarily desysopped.
