Piet-Hein Out[edit]

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia and your attempts to improve the article Piet-Hein Out. However, the article still has multiple issues concerning Wikipedia policies. I had removed the sentence "He is considered to be one of Europe's best circus photographers.", because this view is not mentioned in the source that was referenced, which I explained in my edit summary (see article history). You have now simply put this view back into the article with the same reference, but you have not addressed the issue why it was previously removed. Looking at all sources of the article, they don't seem to establish this person's notability that merit a Wikipedia article. They merely show that Out was a jury member once, he has a homepage, and his photos can be found by means of a Google search, which I don't think is enough. If this situation doesn't change, I will nominate the article for deletion. – Editør (talk) 13:38, 10 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Terribly sorry about not saying why I put it back. I am new here getting used to a lot of stuff. In the source it says " to give voice and vote to five of the best specialized photographers of the moment" this in reference to the jury members. So it does say he is one of the best. I added Europe because he only worked in Europe so far (see other source). Thus it is not a valid reason to ban this article. [[[User:Zirkusfan|Zirkusfan]] (talk) 14:33, 10 July 2014 (UTC)]

I also found a new source the Spanish program booklet of the circusfestival says on page 119: "Una originalidad más del Festival Internacional del Circo Ciudad de Figueres es la de dar voz y voto a una selección de cinch de los majors fotógrafos especializados en circo del moment." So I will put the sentence back in but with better references this time. [[[User:Zirkusfan|Zirkusfan]] (talk) 15:28, 10 July 2014 (UTC)]

It would be more convincing if you would add other secondary sources, instead of more links to websites of Out himself. Please note that Wikipedia is not a platform for self promotion or advertisement. Also, I want to give you a tip about using the same reference more than once. – Editør (talk) 19:18, 10 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much for the tip. I will start using it and clean up the old ones tomorrow morning! In the case of using references to the pages by mr Out to avoid promotion and just give dry facts I left several references to his own sites out. But then you asked for them. Or is it allowed to refer to such facts as "Bio homepage Piet-Hein Out". Same goes for the usage of his pictures, it would be almost impossible to refer to all the imprints of issues of the magazines and newspapers in which pictures made by him appeared. What would your suggestion be to tackle that problem? A general reference? Would that be sufficient? Also because I still want to write articles about the other circus photographers as well.
