Why can't I edit some particular pages?
Some pages that have been vandalized repeatedly are semi-protected, meaning that editing by new or unregistered users is prohibited through technical measures. If you have an account that is four days old and has made at least 10 edits, then you can bypass semi-protection and edit any semi-protected page. Some pages, such as highly visible templates, are fully-protected, meaning that only administrators can edit them. If this is not the case, you may have been blocked or your IP address caught up in a range block.
Where can I experiment with editing Wikipedia?
How do I create an article?
See how to create your first article, then use the Article Wizard to create one, and add references to the article as explained below.
How do I create citations?
  1. Do a search on Google or your preferred search engine for the subject of the Wikipedia article that you want to create a citation for.
  2. Find a website that supports the claim you are trying to find a citation for.
  3. In a new tab/window, go to the citation generator, click on the 'An arbitrary website' bubble, and fill out as many fields as you can about the website you just found.
  4. Click the 'Get reference wiki text' button.
  5. Highlight, and then copy (Ctrl+C or Apple+C), the resulting text (it will be something like <ref> {{cite web | .... }}</ref>, copy the whole thing).
  6. In the Wikipedia article, after the claim you found a citation for, paste (Ctrl+V or Apple+V) the text you copied.
  7. If the article does not have a References or Notes section (or the like), add this to the bottom of the page, but above the External Links section and the categories:
==References==
{{Reflist}}
What is a WikiProject, and how do I join one?
A WikiProject is a group of editors that are interested in improving the coverage of certain topics on Wikipedia. (See this page for a complete list of WikiProjects.) If you would like to help, add your username to the list that is on the bottom of the WikiProject page.

Disambiguation link notification for July 9[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Partido Indiano, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Chardo. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

July 2023[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm DSP2092. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to 2023 Manipur violence seemed less than neutral and has been removed. If you think this was a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. DSP2092talk 07:53, 23 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. Unfortunately, content you added to Shantadurga Kalangutkarin Temple appears to be a minority or fringe viewpoint, and appears to have given undue weight to this minority viewpoint, and has been reverted. To maintain a neutral point of view, an idea that is not broadly supported by scholarship in its field must not be given undue weight in an article about a mainstream idea. Feel free to use the article's talk page to discuss this, and take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. DSP2092talk 17:29, 29 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add commentary, your own point of view, or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles, as you did to 2023 Manipur violence. Doing so violates Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. Thank you. DSP2092talk 04:13, 31 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
I am not adding my own commentary. I am simply stating what news reports the world over are claiming.
Thank you Zocdoclesson (talk) 04:15, 31 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) Hey Zocdoclesson Please understand WP:POV. Just adding sources from any website isn't acceptable. What user:DSP2092 is telling you is this, I think so. Hope you will abstain from doing so. --Haoreima (talk) 08:34, 3 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sources are added from well respected and reliable news sources. I do not cite blog posts, twitter threads or even news sites with a low trust rating which may contain an obvious bias. Zocdoclesson (talk) 08:40, 3 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Important notice[edit]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

August 2023[edit]

Information icon Hi Zocdoclesson! I noticed that you have reverted to restore your preferred version of 2023 Manipur violence several times. The impulse to undo an edit you disagree with is understandable, but I wanted to make sure you're aware that the edit warring policy disallows repeated reversions even if they are justifiable.

All editors are expected to discuss content disputes on article talk pages to try to reach consensus. If you are unable to agree at Talk:2023 Manipur violence, please use one of the dispute resolution options to seek input from others. Using this approach instead of reverting can help you avoid getting drawn into an edit war. Thank you. Kautilya3 (talk) 07:20, 3 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello User:Kautilya3,
I'm glad that you have informed me about this. However, I have quoted news sources from reliable sites. I make no claims of my own, just what the news articles state.
In the case of 2023 Manipur violence, it is now a world accepted fact that it is not just a tribal conflict, rather a religious one. I have quoted souces wherein people of the same ethnic group target eachother. Zocdoclesson (talk) 08:46, 3 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It is a contentious topic and there are many considerations in deciding what content can be included. You are still a newish editor. So please don't act like you can do what you please. Read WP:CONSENSUS and do what it says. Failure to do so can result in you getting blocked. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 08:55, 3 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Stop icon

Your recent editing history at 2023 Manipur violence shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
You have either reached or excedded 3RR. Please go to the talk page and wait for WP:CONSENSUS. Kautilya3 (talk) 08:50, 3 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
Only a small handful of editors have their own biases, which leads them to remove well-sourced articles. A quick look at their profiles will show that they are have right-of-center Indian leaning. Zocdoclesson (talk) 09:08, 3 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Redirecting to uncommon names[edit]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Fudam. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. —C.Fred (talk) 17:50, 3 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Stop distorting neutrality[edit]

Information icon Please do not add commentary, your own point of view, or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles, as you did to Arambai Tenggol. Doing so violates Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. Thank you. All the sources aren't reliable. Just getting sourced doesn't mean they're all acceptable to wikipedia. The sources as well as the contents added to wikipedia should be neutral. Haoreima (talk) 08:30, 3 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Warning against unconstructive edits on page Maratha Portugese wars 1683-1684[edit]

You are doing Pro Portuguese & unconstructive edits on different pages(recently on Maratha Portuguese wars 1683-1684) kindly refrain from it. Your edits may be or will be reverted. Thank you Aryan330 (talk) 09:30, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You are making pro-Maratha and unconstructive edits on this page. Zocdoclesson (talk) 09:35, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Zocdoclesson If I had Pro Maratha perspective then I would put there as Maratha Victory (even there are sources which support it) not states quo ante bellum the term which was used by many historians on this war Aryan330 (talk) 09:37, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ok I will agree on the consensus of Status quo ante bellum. Zocdoclesson (talk) 09:42, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Don't add Portugese alternative territory names[edit]

Refrain from using Portuguese names in Indian territories alternative names(excluding historical Portuguese Empire articles). It is very tedious to remove again & again. Even Indian language names are also isn't allowed (WP:NOINDICSCRIPT) because of different language dispute in India. Only add Indian English or in officially recognised State government languages. 103.241.225.127 (talk) 17:57, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The places in question were Portuguese possessions for almost half a millennia before the creation of India. The Indian names are a corruption of the Portuguese ones.
You don't need to take them off, if it is too tedious. Keep personal bias out of the edites Zocdoclesson (talk) 18:09, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please see the Talk:Goa Island (India) page of the article for the justification of the page's existence as well as the reply to User:C.Fred for the sources.
You may not find the exact name (ie. Goa Island) in sources for two main reasons:
1. Historical references to this island (Ilha de Goa) is in the Portuguese language, not English; since Goa was under Portuguese rule, not British.
2. Due to the construction of several bridges in recent history, connecting the island to other parts of Goa, it gives an impression that it is not an island. Zocdoclesson (talk) 08:31, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
