Rank Uiller article[edit]

Hi Excirial. First, I want to say thank you, for your time. And Happy New Year! I've made some changes on my article and I want to know if they meet the guidelines regarding Reliable Sources. Kind regards, Zoe. Zoepe (talk) 21:18, 29 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there Zoepe,
I might be wrong, but at first glance it would appear that the references used are the names of several expositions that art was showcased on? I fear that this doesn't fall under reliable sourcing as these references cannot be looked up by anyone (While being also of temporal nature). Since the article is a so-called BLP page, a Biography of a Living Person the requirement for sources is several notches higher than it would be for other article's to be accepted.
What you are looking for are sources such as newspapers that can confirm what is written in the article itself. There might also be coverage in other literature such as magazines that can qualify as reliable. Excirial (Contact me,Contribs) 22:55, 2 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Excirial, Following your advice, I've included the ISSN of the periodical publication where appears reliable information regarding Rank Uiller. Please, could you review that? After that, I appreciate any word from you. Thanks. Kind regards, Zoe. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zoepe (talkcontribs) 20:20, 14 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hiyas there Zoe.
Generally taken i try to review an article only once in a row, before allowing another reviewer to have a look at it. By doing so another editor can have a "fresh" look at the changes which tends to yield better reviews (If only due to the possibility that they spot an issue i missed or didn't comment on myself). The review queue isn't to bad so it shouldn't be more then a few days before someone has a look at it. Excirial (Contact me,Contribs) 21:13, 15 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Editing submissions in AfC[edit]

With rare, one-off exceptions, any editor that can edit articles can also edit articles that are in Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation. In fact, the primary author(s) are strongly encouraged to try to improve the articles after they have been declined, provided of course that the topic itself meets the notability and other criteria to be included in Wikipedia. As for Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Frank Guiller, the main issues are that because it is a biography of a living person, most of the information needs in-line citations placed immediately after the text that the citation supports. All important information as well as any information that any editor may want proof of should either be supported by a reference of some type and preferably by an in-line citation, or it should be removed from the draft before submission.

Hasteur (talk · contribs)'s other complaint was that the draft is poorly written. It mostly looks like a curriculum vitae than an encyclopedia article.

Before re-submitting an article on this person, ask yourself if he really is notable, particularly compared to others in his field. You can probably get help from people at Wikipedia:WikiProject Photography for help in determining if he is notable or not. Next, I would re-write the article to include only the highlights of his career that made him stand out, and I would do so on paragraph form rather than bullet-point form. Finally, and this is key, I would have a reference to a reliable source that is independent of the person (i.e. not his own web site) as an in-line citation for each major claim of notability.

Given the numerous rejections this article has already had, I would not submit or create an article on him without first getting a couple of established editors to give input on the "final draft," and I would try to get someone with expertise in photography or photographers to be one of the "final draft" reviewers. Assuming this person meet's Wikipedia's Notability requirements, you want an article that won't be proposed for deletion or nominated for deletion shortly after its creation. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 02:52, 19 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

To clarify: primary authors and others are also encouraged to edit articles that have been submitted while they are awaiting review. If an author wants to make a major edit or series of edits spread out over more than a few minutes, he should change the most-recently-timestamped
{{AFC submission||
or
{{AFC submission|r|
or
{{AFC submission|R|
to
{{AFC submission|T|
so that the article will not be inadvertently reviewed while the author is making the major edit or series of edits. See {{AFC submission}} for more details on this template. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 03:07, 19 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Frank Guiller in his latest photo exhibition.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Frank Guiller in his latest photo exhibition.jpg, which you've attributed to Frank Guiller. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Darkwind (talk) 04:24, 20 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
