License tagging for Image:Laird, John Keith McBroom.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Laird, John Keith McBroom.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 22:08, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:Stevenson,_James,_Baron.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Stevenson,_James,_Baron.png. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Alasdair Allan[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia!

You created the Alasdair Allan recently. A senior and respected editor - Doc Glasgow - raised concerns yesterday that we had failed to establish the notability of this person, and that the article was totally unreferenced. I am of the opinion that Dr Allan does (just) deserve a Wikipedia article, but I would greatly appreciate it if you would peruse the following links, and expand the article. I feel that it is especially important that his period as National Secretary is mentioned and cited, as it is largely this that is his 'claim to fame', as well obviously as his decision following Margaret Ewing's death, and his being a high-profile candidate in one of the most marginal seats in the country.

Please see:

Thanks for uploading Image:Kenny Macaskill.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 16:21, 20 January 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Genisock2 (talk) 16:21, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:Stevenson.stewart.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Stevenson.stewart.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 07:09, 12 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding your statement on this image you re uploaded again. No, it was not deleted by a bot, it was deleted by me. You originally added the following statement to the image "Copyright owned by Stewart Stevenson MSP - licensed as below for all "fair use" purposes. Not to be used for satire or criticsm.". Fair use and public domain do not mix, see the respective articles. Also, everything in the public domain can definitely be used for satire or criticism. If that is a condition to the image, it will be deleted again. Garion96 (talk) 20:29, 28 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In 1912 he published a novel, 'The Kiss of Chance' (published by Eveleigh Nash, London, pp.301), under the pseudonym Roland Dunster

giving the British Library Catalogue as a reference. Nothing in the on-line catalogue indicates that Stevenson was Dunster. Can you provide an additional reference please? Thanks - Crosbiesmith (talk) 20:49, 5 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Image permission problem with Image:Stevenson.stewart.jpg[edit]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Stevenson.stewart.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the image (or other media file) agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the image to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the image has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the image's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Images lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Radio Free Scotland. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Radio Free Scotland. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:22, 25 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Ian McKee MSP.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Ian McKee MSP.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 15:34, 26 February 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Hekerui (talk) 15:34, 26 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File copyright problem with File:STEW1.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:STEW1.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Image Screening Bot (talk) 16:41, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for May 20[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Christian Allard, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages MSP and Dennis Robertson (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

File permission problem with File:Eilidh Whiteford MP.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Eilidh Whiteford MP.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Redsky89 (talk) 05:02, 27 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

UK General Election maps[edit]

Hi, I notice you replaced my map on United Kingdom general election, 1964 as the result for Aberdeenshire East was incorrectly coloured. I have now corrected the error and restored my previous map as your map was a conversion of Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) file to PNG format and the use of SVG images is preferred on Wikipedia. If you notice any other errors for this year or other years could you let me know and I will correct the error, or you are welcome to correct the error yourself using a vector graphics editor. (see commons:Help:SVG for further assistance). Thanks Mirrorme22 (talk) 11:11, 10 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Stewart Stevenson[edit]

201707041953 UTC

After a number of years of data detailing connections with the subject, it is now disputed that these are appropriate. All the documented connections are provided with the necessary reference information to demonstrate the connection. It is good practice to show connections between people on Wikipedia. That assists readers to understand the page concerned and its subject. Some comments have been made that connections are mere genealogy. As a student of that subject, I was not previously aware that this subject - which is objective and analytical - was yet banned. Further contrary to some comment one referenced person still lives and another died only a few years ago.

Hi, I notice that today you have reverted multiple changes that I have made to Stuart Stevenson. Can I ask if you have any connection to the subject of this article? Drchriswilliams (talk) 23:31, 19 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I am the subject of the article - Note I am Stewart Stevenson NOT Stuart Stevenson.

I have previously (some years ago) had the discussion about my being best placed to know the subject but I have previously also accepted the need for objectivity, a neutral expression of information and the inclusion of information I would not naturally select.

It is not clear what Wikipedia standards are being used to make these changes of layout and format which are very longstanding. Some are of likely to be of value to the reader, objectively will improve the article, others delete information of value. Deleting information which is considered un-referenced is unusual. The normal approach would be to flag such information as being un-referenced, wait to see if a reference is provided, and delete only after an interval during which no such reference is provided.

I have detailed the reasons for these changes, including links to relevant policies. Unsourced material in the biography of a living person may be problematic and sometimes can be removed immediately, as per WP:BLPSOURCES. Have you disclosed your WP:COI? Drchriswilliams (talk) 23:59, 19 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Have added sources for relatives. If these are not sufficient, please advise and further updates can be provided. Have added "Declaration of Interest" to highlight source of changes I make. Have added reference to my birth certificate as evidence of parentage. Scotsman article is essentially circular as it is a straight lift in parentage terms from my personal web page. I ask that you remove that reference, mainly because some of the content (Iberdrola-Scottish Power) is grossly incorrect and is a poorer reference than birth registration (which gives parental occupation). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zsstevens (talkcontribs) 10:19, 20 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I have added an appropriate template to the article's talk page. I have added some other references to support some of the key bits of information in the article. With these other references in place, I have removed the one where you have expressed some reservations about content in other parts of the source. You can find some further information about what are considered reliable sources on Wikipedia here: WP:RS. Drchriswilliams (talk) 14:26, 20 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Relatives of note[edit]

The section 'Relatives of note' in the Stewart Stevenson article, which you have a declared conflict of interest on, has been removed by several editors over recent months; please initiate a discussion on the article talk page to gain consensus for inclusion of this rather than edit warring to your preferred version. Thanks. SagaciousPhil - Chat 20:32, 4 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

July 2017[edit]

Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be repeatedly reverting or undoing other editors' contributions at Stewart Stevenson. Although this may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is known as "edit warring" and is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, as it often creates animosity between editors. Instead of reverting, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to be blocked from editing Wikipedia. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, and violating the three-revert rule is very likely to lead to a block. Thank you. — fortunavelut luna 20:40, 4 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
