Usman Musa Shugaba (born January 4, 1981) is a Nigerian Deputy Commissioner of Police. He has served in various key roles, including as an Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to the Governor of Kogi State , ADC to former First Lady Aisha Buhari, and currently as the Chief Personal Security Officer (CPSO) to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.[1][2][3][4]
Background
[edit]Usman Musa Shugaba was born on January 04, 1981, to Fulani parents, Alhaji Musa Baffa and Hajiya Hadiza Musa Baffa. He hails from Unguwan Mu'azu of Tudun Wada District in Kaduna South Local Government Area of Kaduna State. He attended Local Education Authority Primary School, Baptist Faki Road, Tudun Wada, and later Army Secondary School Abacha Barracks, Abuja. He pursued higher education at the Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa, where he obtained a National Diploma in Crime Management. In 2017, he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminology.[5]
Early career
[edit]Usman Musa Shugaba joined the Nigeria Police Academy on August 15, 2002, and graduated as an inspector in 2003. He has served in various capacities, including in the Nasarawa State command as Inspector at Crime 'A' Division, Lafia, for seven months, Inspector Surveillance for five months, and Administrative Officer of Area Command Office Lafia. He was later posted to CID of the Bauchi State command, where he served for six months. Shugaba also participated in a peacekeeping mission in Liberia . He returned to the Nasarawa State command and headed the Mararraba-Akunza police outpost for one year. Subsequently, he became in charge of patrol and guard duties for Lafia town. He also served as ADC to the former Governor of Nasarawa State, Late Alhaji Aliyu Akwe Doma from 2008 to 2011 and as a unit commander of Mopol Lagos state for six months in 2012. Shugaba was posted to Maiduguri for the joint task force JTF Operation that contributed to stabilizing the security situation, particularly in Kano State. In 2013, Shugaba was transferred to Jos as the sector commander of the special task force (STF) due to the crisis between herdsmen and residents in Plateau state. His outstanding performance led to his appointment as the ADC to the former Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Dikko Abubakar. He also served as ADC to the former Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello. He was later appointed as the ADC to the former First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Aisha Muhammadu Buhari.[1]
Philanthropy
[edit]Usman Musa Shugaba is actively involved in philanthropic and humanitarian activities, including the establishment of an orphanage school where over 300 orphans and less-privileged children receive education. He has drilled over 45 boreholes across communities in Kaduna State and has facilitated the fencing and provision of 8 solar lighting in cemeteries to protect against body excavation by criminals. Shugaba has played a significant role in enlisting youths into various Nigerian security and defense forces such as the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force, Nigerian Navy, Nigeria Immigration Service, Federal Road Safety Commission, and Civil Defence, among others. He has also secured job offers in prominent organizations for youths and has empowered both youth and women with capital. Additionally, during Ramadan and Christmas, Shugaba distributes food items to the less privileged and provides scholarships to deserving youth. He has also sponsored some youth to football clubs in London, Saudi Arabia, and Dubai.[1]

Personal life
[edit]Usman Musa Shugaba is happily married to Mrs Farida Usman Shugaba and Mrs Aisha Usman Shugaba. He has five children.
