Vaazha – Biopic of a Billion Boys is a 2024 Indian Malayalam-language coming-of-age comedy-drama film directed by Anand Menen and written by Vipin Das.[3][4] The film stars Siju Sunny, Saaf Bros, Joemon Jyothir, Jagadish, Kottayam Nazeer, Azees Nedumangad, Noby Marcose, Amith Mohan Rajeswari and Anuraj OB. [5]

Plot

The film follows the lives of five friends, often labeled as "losers" by society, as they navigate the challenges of adulthood. The film delves into their friendships, relationships with their parents, and their search for identity and purpose. The narrative unfolds through a series of relatable events in the lives of these young men, showcasing their carefree and aimless existence. As they grow older, the mounting pressure from parents and society to achieve success becomes increasingly overwhelming. The soundtrack for the 2024 film Vaazha was released by Think Music. The soundtrack includes compositions by Rajat Prakash, Nomadic Voice, Parvatish Pradeep, Electronic Kili, and Jay Stellar. The album was released under the Think Music label.[8]

Marketing

The film's theatrical teaser trailer was unveiled on 27 July 2024. A promotional event was held at the St. Teresa's College on 8 August 2024. Its second trailer was released on 13 August 2024, 2 days prior to official release. [10][11][12][13]

Reception

Vazha - Biopic of a Billion Boys received highly positive reviews from critics with praise for its humorous dialogues, direction, music and story aspects. [14][15]

Box office

On the opening day of its release, the film grossed ₹1.5 crores worldwide.[16][17] As of 18 August 2024, the film collected ₹5.50 crores worldwide.[18] As of 21 August, the film grossed ₹16.60 crore.[19] As of 2 September 2024, the film grossed ₹35 crores worldwide.[20] As of 6 September 2024, film collected ₹40 crore worldwide.[2]

Sequel

The film ends with the title Vaazha 2 in the post credits scene.[21] On 21 August 2024, makers announced the sequel titled Vaazha II : Biopic of a Billion Bros.[22][23] Vaazha II features a cast including Hashir, Alan, Ajin and Vinayak.[24] The sequel will be directed by debutant Savin S A and Akhil Lailasuran will be cinematographer.[25]
