The WWE Speed Women's Championship is an upcoming professional wrestling internet championship created and promoted by the American promotion WWE, which will be available to wrestlers from all three of the company's brand divisions. Revealed on August 9, 2024, it will have a stipulation in which matches have a five-minute time limit and stream exclusively on WWE's online program Speed.

History

[edit]

On February 9, 2024, the American professional wrestling promotion WWE announced a partnership with X to introduce WWE Speed, a weekly video series to stream exclusively on the social media platform where wrestlers would perform in matches with a five-minute time limit, which originally featured matches with only male wrestlers from its premiere episode.[1] On May 1, 2024, WWE Chief Content Officer Paul "Triple H" Levesque confirmed that the program would also eventually feature women's matches; this led to an official announcement on August 9, 2024, where he announced that the tournament for the championship will begin on September 4, 2024.[2][3]
