The WeSean Student Federation (WSF) is the apex student organization representing students across the Western Southeast Asian Region. Founded on 17 March 2024, WSF aims to promote regional cooperation in education and social development.[1][2]

About

[edit]

The Wesean Student Federation (WSF) was formed after leaders parted ways with the Northeast Students' Organization (NESO), feeling that NESO had become too ethnocentric, and corrupt. They were also against vandalism and destruction of Public Property, that NESO protests mostly involved. [3] They sought to create a more inclusive platform for transnational[4] Wesean activism and unity.[5] The formation of WSF was also a response to NESO's silence on critical issues like the Citizenship (Amendment) Act and the scrapping of the Frontier Regulation Act (FMR)[6][7]

The WSF has also been working actively to promote Cross Border unity amongst Weseans in Bangladesh and Myanmar.[8] Although WSF claims to be independent, many a times its members and executive body supported and sided with the Congress led, INDIA Alliance.
