Here's the link to the mockup (archived). Quick explanation about the blocks I ignored/majorly changed:

  • WP languages - in left rail. Duplication is BAD.
  • WMF Sister Projects - can be found at the wmf link at bottom right of page. Wikipedia is Wikpedia, not Meta (although I'm open to adding this back in).
  • DYK - changed to Random generator w/ choose and option tags- to add some interactability to the main page. Other areas of Wikipedia- refreshed it with pictures and removed some old links and added some new ones, notably Teahouse.
  • Featured List - Will come next monday when I take a good hard look at how it's laid out ;). *Banner - didn't include in mockup since after all it's only in main milestones and I only wanted to include the main content for starters.
  • Portals - I want to include an all portals link (and probably will have by september 30th) but I wanted to just highlight the 3 main (in my humble opinion) types of human development- the sciences, humanities, and society (I was debating between sports and society, but sports didn't have a portal featured on the main page already =/)

Credits- Jorm (for lots of advice), and the design is partially based of of Wikia's main page (the bottom section).
