Add Support template for use in English Wikipedia[edit]

  • Problem: Currently the {{Support}} template for English Wikipedia is deleted
  • Proposed solution: Re-introduce it. This doesn't require any engineering resources, but community consensus
  • Who would benefit: Use on Feature picture candidates would aid non-English speakers to see the direction of a discussion at a glance. Could also be useful for bots tracking Supports
  • Category: Editing
  • More comments:Obviously the Oppose equivalent would also be added
  • Phabricator tickets:
  • Status: Open

Discussion[edit]

  • I think the main concern is using these picture templates in AfDs. You could discourage/outlaw the use of the temples specifically in AfDs and thus allow the use in Voting environments like FPC for the benefits of allowing non-English speakers to see the direction of a discussion at a glance. However in AfDs I consider the use of "Delete" as a discussion summary evaluation (just as "Keep" is). Nothing wrong with a short summary of your discussion point. And if you have the little picture it can be helpful. For example if you are a German speaker and see the en.wp transwiki link for an article removed, it may have been deleted. If you visit the English Wikipedia AfD you could see the green and red !votes. If there are 10 red delete votes you can assume the deletion was solid and you could revisit the article status on German Wikipedia. All without speaking English.--Commander Keane (talk) 19:35, 27 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
