Flexible file naming and description pages for Lingua Libre[edit]

  • Problem: Lingua Libre has ugly filenames that cannot be changed, they don't even include the accent like EN-AU. The description pages (eg) also don't have the accent. The files are also in .wav format rather than .oga.
  • Proposed solution: Update the software to allow user customisation and a different filetype
  • Who would benefit: Wiktionary editors who have to deal with the filename in entries, readers too. Also downloading .oga files would be quicker than .wavs I think
  • Category: Multimedia and Commons
  • More comments: Lingua Libre is a great tool

Discussion[edit]

Even if the upload is in wav, what users normally download via the player is actually mp3 or ogg vorbis. Unless someone creates a direct [[Media link, but with the new Extension:Phonos, there isn't really a need for that any longer. —TheDJ (talkcontribs) 10:52, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
