Media Viewer should show Location map+/overlay when you click on the module Location Map instead of opening the image of the base map

[edit]
  • Problem: Media Viewer doesn't show the Location map+/overlay, but just the base map/image.
  • Proposed solution: The module Location Map can have the Media Viewer show the Location map+/overlay.
  • Who would benefit: Everyone. As who wouldn't want to view a larger version of a thumbnailed or downsized Location map+/overlay.
  • Category: Mediawiki software change
  • More comments: See Template:Location_map. For example: On Wasilla,_Alaska the 250x187 thumbnail on the right column that shows where Wasilla is on a map of Alaska and/or North America. When you click on the image, it opens the Media Viewer, as expected, but it only shows the base image without the Location map+/overlay, because this data isn't stored in the image file that the Media Viewer opened, but on the page via module. So as I said in my proposed solution, essentially, the a-link href doesn't have the Media Viewer open a specific image/base map, but maybe using javascript, you can load the Location map+/overlay.
