Software suggested image categories and description on upload[edit]
Problem: It is time consuming to find categories and write a description when uploading an image.
Proposed solution: Have Mediawiki suggest categories and descriptions
Who would benefit: Uploaders, category taggers, readers of descriptions

More comments:This idea is a bit out there, but it could use machine learning and computer vision. For example if you upload a picture of a skyscraper that is already uploaded 10 times to Commons perhaps an algorithm could recognise the building and suggest categories. If we had a robust tags system, tags could b used to generate descriptions for human evaluation. Eg an image tagged with "Bird", "Taken in Poland", "Zoo pictures" could get the description suggestion "A bird in a zoo taken in Poland".
