This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to China. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.
- Adding a new AfD discussion
- Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
- Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
- You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|China|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
- There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
- Removing a closed AfD discussion
- Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
- Other types of discussions
- You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to China. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
- Further information
- For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.
This list is also part of the larger list of deletion debates related to Asia.

- Speedy Keep: WP:CSK#3. Those three articles are obviously about different topics. Li Keqiang Government refers only to the composition of the State Council of the People's Republic of China after the 12th (2013-2018) and 13th (2018-2023) National People's Congress. China under Xi Jinping covers the socio-political governance and influence of China during Xi's chairmanship, which extends past 2023 as Xi remains Chairman after the 14th National People's Congress. The subject article is about the Fifth Generations of Chinese leadership, which is a common term coined for categorizing distinct periods of communist leaderships and inherited from the Hu–Wen Administration. In other words, the article is about political institutions of China during the combined rule of Xi and Li from the period 2013-2023, which discusses the distribution and swift of power between Xi and Li during their governance. A simple BEFORE already shows the broad usage and actual meaning of this term, and the nominator (once again) did not provide a deletion rationale grounded in Wikipedia guidelines. —Prince of Erebor(The Book of Mazarbul) 13:47, 26 June 2024 (UTC)
- Speedy keep: as above. Cocobb8 (💬 talk • ✏️ contribs) 14:21, 26 June 2024 (UTC)
- Speedy Keep per Prince of Erebor. Agree that WP:CSK#3 applies. Sal2100 (talk) 18:57, 26 June 2024 (UTC)
- Comment - Li Keqiang Government is
the Central People's Government of China from 15 March 2013, when Premier Li Keqiang took office, until March 2023
, while Xi Jinping–Li Keqiang Administration isthe administration of China from 2013 to 2023
. Both articles list the State Council members, and do little else; it's not obvious that the articles should not be merged. (I agree that China under Xi Jinping is clearly very different). Walsh90210 (talk) 01:39, 27 June 2024 (UTC)
- @Walsh90210: Not really, they are quite distinctive. The key difference is that the subject article includes details about the distribution of power between Xi and Li, which Li Keqiang Government would and should not cover. Another distinction is that the discussion/analysis of this term usually focuses on the power shift from a more equally distributed structure to one more heavily leaning towards Xi, as well as the conflicts between Xi and Li's policies and governance. This is clearly differentiated from Li Keqiang government again, which solely covers the administrative structure of the State Council. Rather than a merge, this article requires an expansion. —Prince of Erebor(The Book of Mazarbul) 05:55, 27 June 2024 (UTC)

- The school’s official website is suspected to be a website built by the editor.
- The school emblem and school song are suspected to be composed by the editor. The entry states that the school song from 2024 will be "People from No. 3 Middle School Pursuing the Other Sun" and the audio file is uploaded. However, according to [1], the school song in March 2024 will be "Brilliant Talents Grow in Lixiang".
- The chapter "School History" is completely inconsistent with [2] "Lingcheng No. 3 Middle School was founded in November 2001 and was renamed Lingshan County Lingcheng No. 3 Middle School in December 2011."
- The school motto "Inspiring students to study hard and pursue excellence" should be "Study diligently and achieve excellence" ([3]), and the philosophy "Let students be admitted to good high schools and make students become obedient and good children" should be "education with ideals" To realize the ideal of education” ([4])
- "Internet Censorship" is an entire chapter of original research and fictitious reference materials. The ISBN of "Research and Reference on the Militarized Management of Education in Guangxi" is found to be a Chinese textbook for the first volume of ninth grade.
- User:鸡景行 also translated the entries into English Wiki and Cantonese Wiki.

- Delete per the analysis I posted above. This editor gave a barnstar to an editor who created numerous hoaxes (Zhemao hoaxes and Wikipedia:Fabricated articles and hoaxes of Russia in 2022) after creating an English Wikipedia article that was deleted on the Chinese Wikipedia for being a hoax. - Comment: A school with the name "灵山县灵城第三中学" (No.3 Middle School Of Lingshan) is mentioned here in The Paper and here on gxnu.edu.cn. The school likely exists though I've been able to find very little coverage of it. According to the Chinese Wikipedia editors' analysis, the article contains false information and fabricated sources. Cunard (talk) 11:45, 26 June 2024 (UTC)

- Delete, seems to be a hoax based on the page creator's block summary. The Wikipedia policy for hoaxes, per WP:G3, is to delete them (although you already know that) 24.115.255.37 (talk) 02:47, 27 June 2024 (UTC)
- Tagged for deletion (G3) As it's pretty clear from evidence here that this is a hoax made by a Zhemao follower or something. I'm assuming there's consensus for deletion, and this hoax is pretty blatant, so let's not waste time here. ABG (Talk/Report any mistakes here) 13:28, 27 June 2024 (UTC)
- Snow delete (I'd have speedied, but it was just declined). Clear hoax, if school is notable it can be re-created with legit sourcing and information. FWIW, if Cunard !votes Delete, there is no hope of salvaging an article's content and there's no one I know with better assessment of Chinese-language sourcing. article is written to legitimize this term, making it seem its use is widespread. there isn't even a chinese wikipedia article about this term. search up "沒女", most results (and most sources in the article) are about the tv show 没女大翻身. ltbdl (talk) 08:53, 25 June 2024 (UTC)

- Keep for now: Could the nominator clarify what is the rationale for deletion? The Wen Wei Po, U Beauty, and the South China Morning Post sources currently in the article may not be the best, but already demonstrate that the term exists and is notable enough to pass GNG. In addition to these sources, a simple search has provided me with numerous other sources, including some Chinese sources that document the origin of this term (see Economic Daily[1] and The Sun[2]), how it spread to and became popular in Hong Kong (see Hong Kong Economic Journal[3], Wen Wei Po[4], and She.com[5]), as well as the subsequent social influence and some recurring usages after it gained popularity (see BBC[6], Ming Pao[7], HK01[8], and Oriental Daily News[9]). I have not yet looked for academic sources, but I have already come across two academic journal articles that cover this term when I was searching for media sources ([10] and [11]), so I do not believe academic sources would be difficult to locate either. :The fact that it does not currently have a respective article on the zhwiki means nothing, and it is clearly an argument of WP:OTHERSTUFFDOESNTEXIST. Most of the sources mention the TV show Nowhere Girl is understandable, because that show popularised the term. There are many other instances of the term being used, such as the drama series The No No Girl (全職沒女), the film Love Detective (沒女神探), and a non-fiction book 沒女要翻身 (lt. Nowhere Girls Need Changes) written by Queenie Chan[12], where the English translation of the term may differ. So the claim that the term is only used in one particular TV show is false as well. Could the nominator please elaborate a bit more on the specific rationale being used for deletion? —Prince of Erebor(The Book of Mazarbul) 15:34, 25 June 2024 (UTC)

- @Eastmain It may be that Science Bulletin is notable, but which information in the article are about it and not about the Chinese Science Bulletin? What should be removed from the article - it has only one footnote to a press release currently. Zh wiki seems to have more, but right now our entry is asking for a WP:TNT, given the confusion. PS. Our article claims the publication was estabilished in 1956, zh wiki gives they year 1950, and there are many inconsistencies between en and zh. Language - for us, English, for zh, Chinese English (?). What is the publication relation to "Chinese Science Bulletin"? Zh wiki claims it is a former name, but miar has two different pages for it? It's a mess. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 11:32, 22 June 2024 (UTC)
- @Piotrus If it helps, there is an article in Science Bulletin itself about the change of name: [14]. So, Science Bulletin was known as Chinese Science Bulletin until 2014. Regarding miar having two pages... if you're referring to the fact miar.ub.edu has a separate page for the title "Chinese Science Bulletin" (https://miar.ub.edu/issn/1001-6538), that would be because it has a different ISSN to the "Science Bulletin" title. So far as I'm aware, when serials are renamed they also get a new ISSN, so this seems pretty normal as far as I can tell.
- The reason for the language confusion may be because there is also a Chinese-language version of the journal (科学通报 or "Kexue tongbao") with its own ISSN (which is documented on zh.wiki but not en.wiki). Chinese Science Bulletin aka Science Bulletin is the English-language version so far as I can tell. Monster Iestyn (talk) 13:42, 23 June 2024 (UTC)

Celebrity travel is too common in reality shows; therefore, the core attraction of "Hahahahaha" is to let the "five Ha" experience the ups and downs of working at the grassroots level. Article from 2012 tagged for speedy deletion 12 years later as unambiguous advertising (criterion G11). The article does contain some promotional language (e.g. "The Qiu Shi Foundation was named after the famous Qiu Shi Academy" and "Cha was best known for his industrial prowess, building a multinational textile conglomerate.") but this is mostly a stub article on a Chinese research prize where there are some examples of the awards being newsworthy, see e.g. [15]. However, while the awards have made it into some news articles, I am unable to determine the independence or reliability of these sources, and none of them are cited in the current article. The sources I have found are also much more about the person receiving the award than the award itself. While the promotional language is not severe enough for it to warrant a speedy deletion, I am bringing it to AFD and recommending delete. Sjakkalle (Check!) 07:08, 19 June 2024 (UTC)

Previous Qiu Shi Award winners include Tu Youyou, who went on to receive the Nobel Prize in medicine for the discovery of artemisinin, saving millions of lives from malaria; Pan Jianwei, who later led the launch of the world’s first quantum satellite; and Zhang Yitang, who proved a theorem that had eluded mathematicians for more than a century. - Keep: Cunard did a very thorough search of sources. However, I found the nominator's main concern is that many of the sources are about the award ceremonies and awardees, rather than the award itself. While the South China Morning Post and People's Daily sources provided by Cunard are indeed about the award itself, The Beijing News and China Daily sources seem to fall under what the nominator would consider as non-independent sources. Therefore, I found two additional sources from Guang Ming Daily[16] and Ta Kung Pao[17] which documented the founding of the award, and I believe these should be adequate to address the nominator's concerns. —Prince of Erebor(The Book of Mazarbul) 15:04, 24 June 2024 (UTC)

Dclemens1971 (talk) 16:37, 18 June 2024 (UTC)- Strong Keep. I removed the PROD after finding plenty of sources on this individual especially in Korean. This is most likely due to the various different spellings of his name. Here in this Korean translation of the Goryeosa [1] published by the National Institute of Korean History he is listed as both "독타불화" and "톡타부카". Individual has Encyclopedia of Korean Culture article [2] as well as a Doosan Encyclopedia article [3] both listed as "왕독타불화". - @Cocobb8, there are two Korean-language encyclopedia articles on this individual. That is not a passing mention. Not only that, he held the the office of Prince/King of Sim/Shen (various ways to translate it), which was a major office in Goryeo-Yuan politics, and had authority over the Koreans who lived in the Yuan-controlled Liaodong area. There were various attempts to place Wang Toqto'a-Buqa on the throne of Goryeo, he wasn't just a random noble prince, but an influential prince with power and influence, who nearly became king in at least two attempts.⁂CountHacker (talk) 16:41, 19 June 2024 (UTC)

- Obvious keep, clearly passes GNG per CountHacker's sources, and the two encyclopedia's entries alone are more than enough to establish notability. The redirect comments should be disregarded, the first one (we can safely
deleteredirect if no sources to validate notability can be found) is pure nonsense: it would had made sense as long as sources had not been provided, but changing the delete vote to redirect after sourcing has been provided just leaves a contradictory and illogical rationale. The second one, claiming that individual entries on established encyclopedias such as Encyclopedia of Korean Culture and Doosan Encyclopedia do not count towards notability, is just a WP:CIR issue and a WP:COMMONSENSE failure. --Cavarrone 08:15, 25 June 2024 (UTC) - Keep per sources above. —Mx. - User:Saqib: the first thing that needs to be emphasized is that the friendly relations between Pakistan and China are dependent on the exchange of visits by top leaders, the official visits themselves, especially since both Pakistan and China, both with hundreds of millions of people, are equipped with attention (WP:N). It's not a vlogger with millions of followers releasing a new song, it's not a visit by a minister or a senator, it's an official diplomatic event representing the will of the nations. I'm not fully aware of Pakistan's internal political tensions, and I don't really care what a specific Pakistani editor's favorites are for specific politicians. WP:N is judged on the basis of facts and sources, and if a visit lacks official coverage from both sides, then it naturally lacks attention. - As far as Nawaz Sharif's visits to China are concerned, there have been five in total, one in July 2013, one in April 2014 (to attend Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia), one in November 2014 to attend APEC 2014, one in 2015 December 2015 SCO, and once in May 2017 at the 2017 Belt and Road Forum. then the correct way would have been to write the 2013 official visit by Nawaz Sharif to China as an independent article, with the rest to be merged into the corresponding conference ones, and if I am happy I would write it later. The correct editorial logic, however, is that diplomacy is all about reciprocal visits, and entries on reciprocal visits that corroborate each other add to the credibility and readability of the articles - one by one, gradually. --TinaLees-Jones (talk) 07:20, 12 June 2024 (UTC)
- TinaLees-Jones, Notability is not temporary and WP:LASTING states
An event that is a precedent or catalyst for something else of lasting significance is likely to be notable.
State visits are usually routine and we've no way of knowing if this particular visit will be historically significant or even momentous event, since the history hasn't been written yet. All we have are some news reports, which are WP:ROTM coverage. Nor this visit yielded any significant outcome or significant effect on the Pak-China relation so I think that it's just like another routine state visit without enduring significance and so clearly fails WP:NEVENT. The press coverage of this official visit doesn't automatically fulfill the requirements of WP:NEVENT. I won't delve into this further. I feel I've expressed my perspective adequately so now I'll leave it to others to make their own assessments. — Saqib (talk) 07:54, 12 June 2024 (UTC)

- Redirect (or merge) to China–Pakistan relations. The nom is right, the article violates WP:NOTNEWS and we have no WP:SUSTAINED coverage due to this visit being way too recent. It may or may not gather sufficient coverage to justify keeping the article in the future, but as it currently stands, it is not suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia as a standalone article. Pilaz (talk) 17:18, 23 June 2024 (UTC)
- Delete: A non-notable visit. Not deserving a page on Wikipedia. Would not argue against a Redirect (or merge) as an alternate to deletion -- which equals it does not deserve a page. The event was not significant and did not precede any other notable event that resulted from the visit. In this case the article fails the Inclusion criteria #4, lacking "enduring significance". The event was just routine and the new coverage was just news of the event with no lasting historical significance. -- Otr500 (talk) 20:42, 25 June 2024 (UTC)

- Keep for now: Could the nominator clarify what is the rationale for deletion? The Wen Wei Po, U Beauty, and the South China Morning Post sources currently in the article may not be the best, but already demonstrate that the term exists and is notable enough to pass GNG. In addition to these sources, a simple search has provided me with numerous other sources, including some Chinese sources that document the origin of this term (see Economic Daily[18] and The Sun[19]), how it spread to and became popular in Hong Kong (see Hong Kong Economic Journal[20], Wen Wei Po[21], and She.com[22]), as well as the subsequent social influence and some recurring usages after it gained popularity (see BBC[23], Ming Pao[24], HK01[25], and Oriental Daily News[26]). I have not yet looked for academic sources, but I have already come across two academic journal articles that cover this term when I was searching for media sources ([27] and [28]), so I do not believe academic sources would be difficult to locate either. Nowhere Girls Need Changes) written by Queenie Chan[29], where the English translation of the term may differ. So the claim that the term is only used in one particular TV show is false as well. Could the nominator please elaborate a bit more on the specific rationale being used for deletion? —Prince of Erebor(The Book of Mazarbul) 15:34, 25 June 2024 (UTC)

Similarly to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of battles in Penghu, I don't see the reason why this would be its own article, as opposed to the conflicts being covered in the Kinmen article (where they are already covered). toweli (talk) 07:59, 27 June 2024 (UTC)

article is written to legitimize this term, making it seem its use is widespread. there isn't even a chinese wikipedia article about this term. search up "沒女", most results (and most sources in the article) are about the tv show 没女大翻身. ltbdl (talk) 08:53, 25 June 2024 (UTC)

- Keep for now: Could the nominator clarify what is the rationale for deletion? The Wen Wei Po, U Beauty, and the South China Morning Post sources currently in the article may not be the best, but already demonstrate that the term exists and is notable enough to pass GNG. In addition to these sources, a simple search has provided me with numerous other sources, including some Chinese sources that document the origin of this term (see Economic Daily[30] and The Sun[31]), how it spread to and became popular in Hong Kong (see Hong Kong Economic Journal[32], Wen Wei Po[33], and She.com[34]), as well as the subsequent social influence and some recurring usages after it gained popularity (see BBC[35], Ming Pao[36], HK01[37], and Oriental Daily News[38]). I have not yet looked for academic sources, but I have already come across two academic journal articles that cover this term when I was searching for media sources ([39] and [40]), so I do not believe academic sources would be difficult to locate either. :The fact that it does not currently have a respective article on the zhwiki means nothing, and it is clearly an argument of WP:OTHERSTUFFDOESNTEXIST.
