Comments
  • Why use Harry? Why not Potter?
  • The lead must be two to three paragraphs per WP:LEAD.
  • I think this article needs more sourcing
    • especially those quoted phrases "and derogatively referred to as a "Mudblood"."
    • The line "In real life, Harry's iconoclastic appearance has become cult." under the section In popular culture needs ref.
    • According to Rowling, Harry's favourite book is Quidditch Through the Ages, an actual book that Rowling wrote (under the pseudonym Kennilworthy Whisp) for the Comic Relief charity.
  • A lot of MoS breaches
    • "Harry's spiritual ancestor." and "flawed and mortal." the period must be outside the quotation marks.
    • Must use nbsp for ellipsis and others throughout "The basic idea [is that] Harry ... didn't know he was a wizard ... and so then I kind of worked backwards from that position to find out how that could be, that he wouldn't know what he was...
    • This one needs space using nbsp "...sickened...by the use to which Draco was now being put by Voldemort""
    • Unlike common terms like child, mentor, memory, and perception. I unlinked some.
  • I suggest using the {{cite web}} and {{cite news}} templates for the references.
  • Ref 38 (a wikipedia article) isn't reliable per WP:RS.

  • Note: the main contributors to this article, of whom Timothyhouse1 is not one, have not yet been notified of this FAC. While anyone is free to bring a FAC, I believe there is precedent for removing a FAC listing if the primary contributor doesn't feel it's ready. I've left a note on Timothy's talk to this effect, so maybe we should hold off on comments or votes until he gets back to us. Steve TC 12:59, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose
  • Lead needs to be expanded to at least two paragraphs.
  • MoS breaches, such as spaced emdashes.
  • Citation needed tag in the In popular culture section.
  • References need to be formatted correctly; some are barelinks, while others are quite messily formatted. Some lack publisher and author information, as well.

  • Comment: "The books cover seven years in the life of the lonely orphan..." Not really. They cover way more than seven years. They go back to when Voldemort was a boy, his parents as children, himself in the future etc. And describing him as a lonely orphan is probably correct as far as the first chapter or so of the first book is concerned, but he's hardly lonely from then on. – How do you turn this on (talk) 17:04, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
