Angus Taylor's life-size bronze sculpture of Brenda Fassie[edit]

Voting period is over. Please don't add any new votes. Voting period ends on 15 Jul 2022 at 15:03:13 (UTC)

Reason
This is my first nomination of a featured picture. I was taken by this photograph which seems to have artistic and educational merit. Potential flaws are that the photographer's name is included at the bottom and at the highest resolution, there are some image artifacts. The framing and background are artistically attractive inviting the viewer to look more closely and see the detail of the words on the sculpture, which are quotes from the subject.

  • Support as nominator –  SchreiberBike | ⌨  15:03, 5 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • There are a few quibbles I have: It's an artistic monochrome, and possibly a bit heavily post-processed, which I'd normally object to as misleading, but for a bronze sculpture, I think it works. The signature in the lower right is kind of distracting, but it's not from Wikipedia, so that may justify it a bit. I'm inclined to Support, but I imagine those will be the biggest issues with the nomination if there are any. (Well, that, and we honestly need more voters if we're going to keep a quorum of five). Anyway, welcome to Featured Pictures! Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 7.9% of all FPs 21:31, 9 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support – but I think the watermark should be removed. Bammesk (talk) 17:12, 10 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I can try, but if I can pass something annoying like that off to WP:Graphics lab I would rather, especially with COVID. Sorry, Graphics Lab, but you specialise in it, and I don't. Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 7.9% of all FPs 19:37, 10 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If the nom gets the support votes, I volunteer to do it. Bammesk (talk) 19:51, 10 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I've uploaded a new version with the signature/watermark edited out. I have no experience in such things and used MS Paint, so if it can be done better, please do so. I thought the new version would appear above, but it hasn't and I don't know how to make that happen. SchreiberBike | ⌨  12:32, 11 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

There have been some thumbnailer bugs of late, though. Check out USS Missouri (1841) and compare the lead image with what actually shows if you click through. Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 8% of all FPs 18:48, 14 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
