Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates/New River Gorge Bridge

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Original - The New River Gorge Bridge in Fayetteville, West Virginia is a steel arch bridge that carries US 19 over the New River. It opened in 1977 and hosts Bridge Day, an annual event in which the bridge is closed to vehicles and participants are allowed to BASE jump to the valley floor below.
Reason
High quality photo that represents a great example of structural and bridge engineering. Already a FP on Commons and at German Wiki. 2007 POTY candidate (104th place!). I feel it meets all requirements of FP status.
