Original – The Japanese Sega Mega Drive video game console. This is the first design model of the system.
Original – A North American Sega Genesis video game console with 6-button controller. The Sega Genesis is a 16-bit, fourth generation game console that was first released in 1988. This is the second remodel of the console and is shown with a 6-button that was released later in the console's life.
Reason
Lead images in a featured article, high technical quality, popular system. I could start reminiscing, but nobody cares about how I traded my first place prize (a boombox) for a second place prize (a Genesis) back in second/third grade.
Articles in which this image appears
Both in Sega Genesis and History of video game consoles (fourth generation). The second one is in several further articles.
