Original – The Sun is the star at the center of the Solar System. It is almost perfectly spherical and consists of hot plasma interwoven with magnetic fields. It has a diameter of about 1,392,684 km, about 109 times that of Earth, and its mass (about 2×1030 kilograms, 330,000 times that of Earth) accounts for about 99.86% of the total mass of the Solar System.

  • Comment The SDO takes vast quantities of pictures of the sun, daily, how do you narrow it down to just one? I'd prefer a photograph of it doing something than a rather calm photograph. — raekyt 23:53, 9 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support It seems active enough to be interesting. If there were more appropriate pics, they should be used in the articles instead. As it is, this looks great and meets criteria IMO. --99of9 (talk) 00:06, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
